That's just political propaganda used by the opposing party when they win back the White House. Didn't George W. Bush restore respect to the White House when he took over from Bill Clinton? Respect will be returned to the White House only when we finally get a President that truly works for the citizens of this country. Unfortunately a cursory glance at the history of the Presidency seems to indicate that very few of them have held up their end of the promise. Lincoln, Andrew Jackson, and Washington are just a few who tried to serve all the people and really took their oath of office seriously. And even they were far from perfect. None of the modern Presidents have been anything exceptional, which is sad considering the importance and demands of the office. We need to demand more from our elected leaders, that's really the bottom line.

Obama doesn't get respect as a President just for getting elected. Hell...George W. Bush was able to do it twice. I'll be very happy if Obama brings more respect to the position of President, but I want to see some positive results for this country first.

Alright, let's just face it: There will be hardline Republicans who won't give him an ounce of credit even if he does something they feel is "right", and there will be staunch Democrats that will see him as someone who can never do wrong, even if he ends up doing something that will screw us royally. There are always going to be people blinded by this bizarre dichotomy of what they think is "right" and "wrong" and there's no room for compromise. For the rest of us, I hope that most people feel that respect should be earned, not automatically given. Until Obama at least takes his first steps into the Oval Office, we won't know if he's worthy of respect or not. All we can do now is watch and hope for the best.

The ultimate respect is for the Presidency. We give the man the respect he deserves and earns.

I don't care who's in the Oval Office. There's a level of respect that should always be there.

Absolutely. I for one will show Obama the same respect Bush enjoyed from the leftist for eight years.
UPDATE: Response to cs....How many hundreds, if not thousands, of items on RIA are ratings of things that have not happened yet? The elction itself was a rating of two people, neither of whom have occupied the oval office yet.

Why has the website gone to raking things that haven't happened yet? It simple, kids- act in a respectful manner, you get respect. Act like a JesusLand Warhawk that makes almost every thinking person in many nations in Western Civ. shake his or her head, you don't even begin to get things you deserve. Leftists treated dubs bad? How about thinking people had it in for dubs. . .

Anyone who disrespects the Oval Office, regardless of who presides over it, is anti-American. I think this ought to be "a return of respect for the US President. " I think it is George W. Bush, the man, who is so hated and disrespected. It's funny how they call for respect now.
