Though I haven't played Backgammon is years (something I should probably remedy), I remember this game as a decent merger of chance, skill and strategy, and my sister used to play a derivative called Acey-Deucey (i.e. rolling a 1 and a 2 had some good effect). Backgammon converts well to a computer version as well. My quick and dirty research indicates that this game possibly dates as far back as ~3000 BC from Mesopotamia (with boards found in archaeological sites.

Yawn is my description of this game. Yeah, I know it's old and traditional, but it is not much fun.

This is only interesting if you're putting money on it. Even then only slightly. Otherwise, save your time.

I can kick anyone's a$$ at backgammon. This game rules. Why it is so far down on the list is completely beyond me. Whenever I travel somewhere with my best friend, we play backgammon. Which is why she now owes me one million and seven dollars. It's complicated and challenging, and forces the players to think. It may seem easy...all you have to do is remove all your tokens from the board, and you win! Think it's simple? Not so. It takes brains to play backgammon. Backgammon is an extremly boring and confusing game. You have to use too much of your mind to play it, and the stupid board always tilts and the pieces go everywhere.

Great game of stategy, but luck plays a big part.

Backgammon is fairly easy to play, but the probabilities make it swing back and forth during the game, which can keep interest high. It's also a good game to help with arithmetic skills.

My grandmother is the world's best backgammon player. When I was young, she used to thrash me repeatedly at this game, which was somewhat frustrating as you would think the outcome would be driven more by luck than skill.
