Anyone who ever served- especially in the Corps- will easily pick up on about a dozen things here that are, to put it mildly, unrealistic. Eastwood and the cast overcame that with relative ease. This was actually one of the first films in the genre where Clint showed something of a more human side, so to speak. Well worth watching.

"I'll send you home with that 'I just pumped my neighbors cat' look on your face"! Priceless!

Uneven film, with some very good moments, and some real dud points. Nothing really stands out about it, but its worth a look.

Even tho it wasn't necessarily a war, nor was it a very popular movie, it was still a historic military event in U.S. history and I feel it deserved a movie about it. Even tho the movie wasn't brilliant.

This story was based on my breaking up with my highschool/college girlfriend over the phone...

I was amazed that Hollywood did a movie about a 6 day war that happened the day after the Beirut Bombing.Boy times sure have changed.

A little bit of Jarhead required viewing, for sure. I rather liked Gunny Highway.

Of all the Eastwood films, this is one that (if he could shoot it now instead of 1986) I think he would have created a better film. Still, HR is very watchable despite being dated. It has ups and downs - for Eastwood, it's probably a middle-of-the-road effort when we consider all of his films. But HR has some great, great lines and a few memorable characters. Love the Swede. . .
