Along with Million Dollar Baby, this is my favorite Eastwood film. Not only was this Clint at the top of his western form; he was complimented here by most of the rest of the cast. There was something of an authenticity to the film. The novel upon which it was based- "Gone To Texas"- was loosely based on the life and times of Jesse James, making it all the more interesting, at least to me. Lastly, there were more historical/ political undertones here than in any other western that I know of. All in all, a true masterpiece.

Excellent, subtle, nuanced film that early on showed the promise of Eastwood's ability.

I don't usually agree with Canada but this is by far one of Eastwood's best movies.

Not much left to say about this one. Probably the greatest 'early' film in Eastwood's canon. Love the historical background. It's still watchable. It still resonates.
