His comedy was borderline-retarded...the GOOD kind that is, LOL.

Another cast member that introduced new things. His musical infused "weekend update spots" where histerical and unforgettable. Operaman was genious. And then theres Gap girls another one of my alltime favorite sketches with reoccuring characters. He was also part of my favorite SNL era(farley, sandler, hartman, spade, etc) so I may be partial
badgerfan 02/27/2008
Not versatile enough to grab a five. He did some great things though. I like Opera Man.
GenghisTheHun 12/13/2007
I just don't get it. This guy is not that funny.
edt4 12/13/2007
I've yet to see him in anything where he's actually funny, or displays even a modicum of talent. Along with other "entertainment" ciphers like Julia Roberts and Britney Spears, he sort of personifies the banality that American culture has descended to. In the past, you had to have some sort of talent before you became famous. Or, if you were talentless, you had to have an otherworldly beauty or sexiness. Now, we've come to a point where almost anybody can become "famous". I guess some might see that as a triumph for egalitarianism, but if you enjoy quality in your movies, your music, your books...it's nothing short of depressing to contemplate. What's happened to us? We were the culture of jazz, of rock music, of Bogie and Cagney, of Billie Holiday, of Edgar Allen Poe and Mark Twain...now we're the culture of Britney and Adam and Stephen King and John Grisham. I certainly don't have the knowledge or intelligence to offer a cogent explanation of why this has happened in America, but I know now that every Hanukkah season, without fail, I'm going to be "treated" to countless repititions of Sandler's "Hanukkah Song", along with John and Yoko singing "Happy Christmas (War is Over)". Difference being, of course, that Lennon had immense talent (even if Yoko didn't).
Nillon24 12/12/2007
Perhaps the unfunniest "funny-guy" in the history of show business. Has made millions of dollars from acting like an infantile dinglenuts, and for some reason people just seem to lap it up!! Oh well.. thats today's showbusiness I guess.
fb551331332 11/11/2007
When I was 12, I wanted to marry this man. Nothing much has changed.
ESMladypimp210 04/04/2006
Effin hillarious..<3
gamerman 02/26/2006
This guy is one of the funniest comedians ever!! Some people might think his movies are stupid, but I think they're funny! XD XD XD!!
holcombe.jorda n 10/06/2005
not very funny, stick to drama
Europia of the Dark 07/15/2005
He's extremely funny, with a humor reminiscent of Beavus and Buthead. His humor tends to be immature, yes, but that's the fun of it. Some people can't stand him, of course, but I believe that those people get offended too easily.
Asbestos 06/20/2005
Some good stuff. good funny songs. and opraman classic
Bubblehead0774 7 06/02/2005
I never really found him funny on SNL. He certainly didn't stand out as someone who would go on to such enormous success. He is pretty funny in some of his movies though, and he seems like a real decent person, so good for him.
ralph vincent 04/10/2005
sophomoric humor, but there is more than meets the eye. punch drunk love was great. also, his snl characters were pretty good. his cd's are funny. not one of the best, but among the better cast members.
Djahuti 04/01/2005
Sometimes he can be funny-more often he's just annoying.
finzleft 04/01/2005
One of the lowests of the low humor. Talentless idiot.
querulous 03/18/2005
Probably the funniest cast member ever on this show. I like the fact that he gets under the skin of prissy people who think they are too mature for his humor.
snlover 01/07/2005
One of the rare cast members who left SNL and made box office hits. He still continues to thrive as an actor today due to his immense talent and creativity.
HotChick4Chick s 10/25/2004
Better since he left SNL. Has some promise as a rocker.
owl1962 08/25/2004
Not funny.
helmut 08/09/2004
Adam sandler always plays the same character, with Waterboy being the one exception. He is always the irresponsible idiot. In Happy Gilmore, Big Daddy, Billy Madison, he is always the same and not funny.
lemonguy 07/28/2004
What is the big deal about Adam Sandler?!
marcm9999 06/11/2004
The best work of his career was on this show.
Jemiculus 04/28/2004
Adam Sandler is proof that being type-cast isn't always the worst thing that can happen to your career.
Chilly_Willy 03/03/2004
3 words: love Gap Girls.
MistressK 02/22/2004
Every character he plays is the SAME character. He seems to be taking a turn toward more believable roles, but I would like to see him move away from silly into serious.
phlip-tout 01/04/2004
I don't get his humor. I guess it's because I went to college.
President -X-D 05/12/2003
He had his moments. One of the better players who was around at the start of the downward spiral. But, if his style is what people wish the show would go back to, they're all crazy.
Redoedo 03/07/2003
Sandler's time on SNL was probably the highlight of his career, and his breakthrough as well. His songs that he sang on "Weekend Update" were hilarious, espescially "Oprah Man". He seemed to fit in perfectly with the late 80s and early 90s cast.
skipbar 03/03/2003
sometimes very funny, but usually reverted to sophmoric garbage
monty56 02/24/2003
not as good on snl as cd's and movies
Jason1972 01/16/2003
A very creative comedian who can also come up with snappy lyrics in his comedy songs. Him and Farley saved SNL from getting totally dull in the early 90s.
lookbehindyou 11/26/2002
Adam Sandler is the coolest!!! I have seen all of his movies except goin overboard and they are all awesome, especially Billy Madison and Happy Gilmore they are classics and 8 Crazy Nights is goin to be off the chain. You can't disagree that Adam Sandler is the greatest comedian ever in the history of the world!!!!!
marc780 11/19/2002
He's alright, but im getting tired of this guy. Move over already
lukskywlkr. 10/17/2002
This rating is based solely on his work on SNL. He was great as Opera Man and Cajun Man. Also those hilarious little diddies about his red hooded sweatshirt. However, if we are talking about his movie career, I give it NO STARS. His movies are not funny. They suck.
tworebel 07/02/2002
He was hilarious on Saturday Night Live! I wish he would still be on the show every once in a while.
ellajedlicka21 10/30/2001
Adam Sandler is awesome! He is one of the funniest guys ever. All the movies he has acted in were great. Both Happy Gilmore and the Wedding Singer were hilarious. His CD They're All Gonna Laugh at You is great. His performance of "Red Hooded Sweatshirt" on SNL is classic.
MedgarEvers 10/29/2001
I'm not a big Sandler fan, "Happy Gilmore" didn't do much for me, but looking back on some of his SNL years, I see he had a funny way of getting his jokes across. A man of many faces with a usually good sense of humor.
BitterRhetoric ian 08/10/2001
I generally love saturday night live, and the cast is usually exquisite new young talents. This leads me to wonder what person made the grave oversite of letting this bufoon on the cast. Sandler represents the downfall of the show. It shows that even a great show like SNL isn't perfect. When sandler came on he brought with him a new comedic era, on SNL....a low-brow era. Though this was much wanted by many special interests groupswho were upset that never before had a neaderthal man been allowed to be on network television. I despise Adam Sandler, his time spent on SNL, and every movie he's been in. Here's to hoping he grows up!
whatzupck 07/20/2001
Can anyone say repetitive one note characters? I know Andy can.
FootballStar71 04/12/2001
Nobody better
callmetootie 04/07/2001
Adam Sandler was really good when he was on SNL. He always played a crazy, goofy character. I liked him as Operaman and The Gap Girl. He carried on his characters very well, and he had some really funny lines.
Lyrical 03/29/2001
This is about the time I stopped watching. BOOORRRIIINNNGGG!!
Princess27 01/09/2001
Adam is the King. He Rules !!!! and he's sexxxxy.....
Cholera 12/15/2000
Sandler's immature comic genius was viewed as boorish by those with pretenses of what comedy should be. Opera Man. Cajun Man. He additions to weekend update were often the highlight of the newscast. Comic genius a good setting.
yagafat 12/14/2000
He has to be one of the funniest men alive. His movies are always funny and entertaining. I feel he is very inventive. He has to be on SNL more so that the ratings go up.
westybob 12/14/2000
Adam Sandler is hilarious. I wish he were still on the show so I could see him every week instead of only when his movies come out. His CDs are great, and I can't wait for Little Nicky to come out.
kodak 12/14/2000
Adam Sandler is hella funny. I remember him from MTV with Colin Quinn. I'm glad he's getting all of the fame he has seen. But in those interviews he has been getting weirder and weirder (coke?).
Sweetie 41 12/14/2000
He is so creative and has so many different talents. He always has a new character to share on TV. I watch him all the time.
emmy 12/14/2000
This guy is really funny as everybody knows. But, I've watched a lot of SNL and he is not used as well as he could be. However, no matter what he is doing he is still very funny.
