 | Derek880 (0) 02/12/2007 | Was a decent host, but could only work within the material.

 | ralph vincent (0) 04/10/2005 | best standup ever. his early stand up bits legitimized a fledgling show. not a real cast member, but the show could not have been the same w/o his contributions. cannot begin to measure his all around talent.

 | finzleft (0) 04/01/2005 | Never a cast member because he WAS ready for prime time! An honorary member anyway, because he hosted so often, and even came on the show on other occasions, I believe. He's still fresh and has adapted to roles for his age, unlike so many others.

 | sfalconer (21) 12/10/2004 | He was never a cast member but he has guest hosted on many an occassion. He is very funny and did a great job on the 2003 Oscars.

 | snl_luvah (0) 10/02/2004 | Sorry to rate Steve a 1, but as he was never a cast member, he shouldn't be on the list. (Are Goodman, Baldwin, Walken etc down the list as well?)

 | FranksWildYears (48) 02/24/2004 | Although he was never a cast member, his SNL appearances were some of the best moments of the show and his career.

 | snlgirl (0) 06/22/2003 | Steve Martin wasn't a cast member, but he was a great host. I loved wild and crazy guys, and King Tut.

 | skipbar (0) 01/20/2003 | Not a cast member, his stuff since then is brilliant, but the schtick on SNL was just Schlock

 | Potch1214 (0) 10/12/2001 | Martin never was a member of the NRFPTP. He is brilliant (especially his HOSTING stints on SNL), but he should not be on this list any more than, say Calista Flockhart or Vanilla Ice.

 | callmetootie (4) 04/07/2001 | You may be surprised by what I have to say, but Steve Martin was one of the worst SNL members ever chosen. He was so boring, and never had a good character. It was like staring at him, and he would do absolutely nothing.

 | turbonaz (0) 12/12/2000 | Steve Martin is one of the greatest comedians/actors ever. He's always made me laugh, especially in his movies like Roxanne, Parenthood and Father of the Bride I & II. Yeah, he is getting old, but he's still as hilarious as ever.

 | actjef1077 (0) 11/24/2000 | Martin was never an official member of Saturday Night Live, but that didn't make him less than stellar. His "Wild & Crazy Guy" routine is probably most memorable. No one could play such a range of charcters. He could play a foreign swinger or a middle aged man discovering what would be the best present for Christmas. I only wish he could still be on.

 | shmacky (0) 11/22/2000 | Steve Martin is the best comic alive. His characters have real life and spirit. Each character has its own unique personality and some can even make normal conversation into sidebustingly hilarious comedy. I can't say enough about how funny this guy is.

 | Ruby (15) 02/18/2000 | Hate to ruin the party here, but Steve Martin was NOT a cast member! He guested on SNL about 5-6 times during the first few seasons (and a couple times since), but was never an official Not Ready for Prime Time Player. That said, he's without question the greatest GUEST in SNL history. Theodoric of York the Medieval Doctor was a personal favorite!

 | SamIAm (4) 02/17/2000 | Wild and Crazy Guys has become some sort of American Icon..and it wouldn't have been the same without Martin and Akroyd. Martin is definitely one of the best Comedians of all time and was a member of the Ultimate SNL cast!

 | Wiggum (16) 02/16/2000 | That whole "King Tut" thing looks pretty stupid now, but I still like the "Wild and Crazy Guy" sketches Martin did with Aykroyd.

 | upchuck (0) 02/15/2000 | i loved most of the original cast members, steve martin had to be one of the funniest, who can forget "wild and crazy guys"
