The leader in uneducated bias commentating. Also believes that if a college basketball game was not played in the ACC, it never really happen. Only has one tone of voice....LOUD!!! He is probably the number one reason why most college fans hate Duke.

Dicky V is the most knowledgeable college basketball broadcaster on the planet, by far! With his distinctive and unique playcalls, incessant enthusiasm for college basketball, and very strong insight into the game, Dick Vitale is one of, if not the top sports broadcaster across all sports. He's awesome, baby!

Love Dickie V and his ACC bias! Not a Duke fan but since his daughter goes there, I understand his allegiance and cool with that. Regardless, the ACC does rock and is definitely the best anyway.

Dick Vitale can get a little too excited but when he does it make everyone who is watching excited he gets his audience to feel his passion for the game. John Madden is boring and makes some of the stupidest comments in all commentary. Dick Vitale will forever be a legend in broadcasting for a reason he's good

It was fun to watch Vitale several drafts ago, apropos of the high number of international players being selected, enter a jingoistic rant about how many of them would be flops, and how the American college player is still the best source of talent. My favorite statement Vitale made was that international players didn't get the job done 30-35 times a season, like college players do. Which is patently absurd. Considering that roughly half of NCAA players' games are blowouts against inferior competition, and that 22-year-old college seniors are often facing kids 18 and 19 years old, I would say that the Europeans are the ones getting the job done. They only play 15-20 games per season, but they're playing professional basketball, versus guys who are 25-30 years old. Plus, while all American prospects are still facing even worse competition in high school, international players can go pro at age 16, giving them at least 2 more years of true development. I could go on, but this underscores the utter irrationality of most of Vitale's viewpoints. Shrill catchphrases shouted at the top of one's lungs rarely make for a convincing (or in Vitale's case, lucid) argument, and I would be happy to see Dukie V. be shown the door.

I really like Dickie V. His enthusiasm for the game of college basketball is unparalleled; I don't think anyone can dispute that. He seems to like every NCAA basketball team, although he is especially partial to UNC and Duke. He can be an insightful commentator when his excitement doesn't get in the way, which I'll admit, isn't that often. Still, I like the energy that he brings to the booth, I think it makes the game fun. I admit, he does come on very strong, too strong for some people, so I can see why some folks don't like him announcing games.

Love his enthusiasm, but he's just not good at his assigned job, which is to analyze the game he's covering. Although if you're a UNC or Duke fan, you'd love him, because you could turn on any Vitale-covered game (whether UNC/Duke are in it or not) and get to hear him go on and on about how special your programs are.

I used to love Vitale. I still think he's funny once in a while. His passion is great. But overall I've gotten sick of him, he screams all that crap of his and he is just annoying as hell. He does know the game well, and when he's serious and not screaming he's pretty good. He does have a major ego. But what really stinks about him is that he kisses Duke's ass so much and he is so biased toward Duke.

Who cares is he has a smile on his face all the time and has the enthusiasim of a little kid. How can you not love that??? Dick Vitale has personality, love for the sport of college basketball, integrity and compassion and in general people love him. He's a very kind man, who represents college basketball with enthusiasm and energy that gets peoples attention. Dick is the greatest and I applaud his broadcasting style.

while Bill Walton is the best broadcaster in professional sports, Dick Vitale is by far the worst. I cannot watch any college BBall games that he announces, my ears cannot take the abuse. When his nose isnt plastered up Duke's ass he really provides very little insight into the games. Because his schtick involves yelling "THE DUKIES AND MIKE K WILL RISE TO THE TOP AGAIN BABY!!!!!" actual analysis and insight fall by the wayside. The sooner he is forced to retire, the better.

Dicky V is the best. I can see where some people wouldn't like him, he is definitely loud and opinionated. But i think the guy is absolutely hilarious, and his love for the game and what he does is outstanding. He knows college basketball inside-out, and really gets the viewer into the game. It could be two teams i know nothing about, or could care less who wins, but Vitale gets me so damn pumped i end up rooting for a team andwatching the whole game, that is the mark of a great announcer, long live Dicky V Baby!!!

I suppose I rate him fairly highly because he's so closely intertwined with what I believe to be the single most exciting sport remaining in either the pro or college ranks--NCAA basketball. However, three things about him bother me. First, he really does get a little too carried away and excited, particularly when covering the "Dookies" at Cameron Indoor. This leads to my second gripe--he is so slanted toward the ACC in general and Duke in particular. It's a great basketball conference to be sure, but isn't a sportscaster supposed to show a little objectivity? And third, even though he has been involved in the broadcasting game for quite awhile, his coaching credentials just do not jump off the page at me and make me say "wow". In short, Dickie-V is a good entertainer, but not someone I take very seriously as a basketball analyst.

Dickie V is enjoyable to watch. He exudes energy and enthusiasm, and he knows the game of basketball better than any other sportscaster in the business. The skill and insight he brings to his job is impressive, and he is always well prepared. That's TALENT, BAY BEE!!
