Marv Albert is a classic NBA on NBC announcer and his personal issues aside, does a very good job at his craft.

Despite the fact that he is a pervert, he has always been good.
numbah16tdhaha 05/24/2006
Yes! Bring me another to bite! He's still a decent sports guy, even if he is a freak.
Ih8rateitall 05/24/2006
Yes!! From Downtown! He's on Fire!! He does NFL on the radio too. I deducted a star because he's kind of weird and he wears a terrible rug.

The voice of the NBA. Marv continues to be at the top of his game at TNT. So much better than these idiots like Mike Tirico that now call games for the NBA. Trust me, the regular season is painful enough already. I've gotten to the point where I can't watch an entire NBA regular season game unless it features Detroit, San Antonio, Miami, or goes three overtimes like a few have recently. Why can't any of these guys learn how to shoot a jump shot?

NO ONE can do a basketball game better than Marv. He is HOF material big time. Marv's style has been fairly succesfully duplicated by some announcers. I am glad to because I really enjoy the way he does a game.
Jmb88 11/08/2005
A good voice for calling games. One of the best national announcers next to Al Michaels. 5 Stars.
jpern24 11/29/2004
He is nowhere close to Kevin Harlan on thursday nights basketball. He's ok but definately not the voice of basketball
coleslough 05/28/2004
is it marv? marvelle?
Roach 04/06/2004
Shaquille O'Neal for three,....YESSSSSSSSSS!!! Marv is a great.
kman1582 07/17/2003
Marv's the man.
bodarc 06/19/2003
Probably the best of the current bunch of play by play basketball voices. He adds to the game rather than becoming a distraction. I approach most NBA games wondering what idiot ego (such as Walton) will irritatingly screw it up, when Marv is on I relax and enjoy the game.

Oh, God. For 36 years this voice has grated on. And they cloned him, and called it Kenny, and now Kenny does Rangers games and football. Aaaaaaah! Living proof that New Yorkers are not as sophisticated as they claim to be, because if they were, they would demand more than the same tired, recycled gunk they get from this family.

YES! Ya gotta love Marv Albert, despite is panty-wearing escapade. He is one of the hardest working sports personalities in the business and is ALWAYS prepared and on his game. I've been watching him for years on MSG network covering the Knicks and have enjoyed what he brings to the game. His work ethic is unmatched.

people this isn't supposed to be rating his personal life, this is about his skills as a basketball announcer, and he is the best there is. Is very unbiased, knowledgeable, and has a passion for the game. No matter what game is on, it could be the Grizzlies and Cavs, if Marv Albert is announcing i have to tune in, the man is great at what he does. He sets off a very enthusiastic tone toward the game, which goes right through the viewer at home. YESSS!!! He is On FIRE!!!
Davis21Wylie 06/20/2002
Despite his legal troubles, Albert is THE voice when it comes to the NBA. How could anyone forget the "impossible move by Michael Jordan!" or any of the other memorable moments he has called?
Cynical Sam 02/28/2002
Marv's sexual perversion is his own business, and anyone who takes him to task for that rather than for his sportscasting talent is in serious need of an ass biting (which Marv would probably be glad to give). He has a distinctive voice and his catchphrases are known to many a basketball fan. Not as good as Dickie V, but I still like him.

Got some nice six-inch pumps for you, wig boy...

I love the voice of Marv. He does the Knicks games with Clyde Frazier. He grew up as a ball boy for the team in the early '50s and was an announcer when they won their first championship in 1970 all the way up until now. He is most certainly the most famous announcer in the history of the Knicks' franchise. His famous Yess, when someone hits a big jumper and also when someone makes a shot while getting fouled: "Yes, and it counts!" I always enjoy how he says: "A timeout called (and then he pauses momentarily) by the Knicks."

Mar Albert is one of the best basketball commentators in the world! When he does the Knick games, his enthusiasm just amazes you. "And Hits The Three" is his coolest phrase.
eBrain1 03/18/2001
Perverted?- What do you think? However, he does deserve a second chance on the National Stage. He is a Good Announcer. One of the Best BIG Game NBA voices... -----
Black Ball 01/17/2001
Marv Albert was a horrible sportscaster. His voice was the pits, and his general style was, well...bad.
Jobless4U 01/12/2001
He's got a hella shady sexual past, plus, his catch phrases are extremely annoying. And, he talks too much and his voice has got to go.
Samlippman 01/10/2001
Legal affairs aside, Marv Albert is great! Costas has obviously tried to immitate the master but noone can compare to Marv. Marv sticks to the game and does not go off on self indulging tangents. He becomes excited during truly spectacular moments and does not try to build suspense via overexcitability. YYYeeessss!
maddmarxx 01/09/2001
He has the strangest sense of humor of any sportscaster that comes to mind with the exception of Skip Carey.I honestly think he could make synchronized swimming sound exciting if he were doing the play-by-play.His appearances on the Letterman show are always entertaining.
Johnny Roulette 01/09/2001
I don't care what he does in his spare time, this guy calls a great game. He's quite often the best part of the game.
Neel27 01/08/2001
Folks, you gotta love Marv Albert. I mean come on the guy still wears a toupee! I would say that along with Bob Costas, Marv Albert makes watching basketball on NBC fun. He offers insightful commentary, players bios, etc. Overall, Bob Costas- Marv Albert duo is great!
Socra Fin 12/20/2000
I think Marv Albert is a good announcer because he can communicate basketball games like no other. Maybe Bob Costas is a little better. His voice is key, it is very deep which gives a seriousness to the game as well as exciting.
flai6201om 05/25/2000
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
1clh5518et 04/08/2000
at least he has a personality
upchuck 04/05/2000
Marv is his own man...he may have bitten a few butts, but he never kisses any. Seems to blend well with whomever he is teamed with and doesn't try to take over.
Munson 04/04/2000
YES!!! I grew up listening to Marv and he will always be one of my favorites. His dry wit and ability to mesh with so many different analysts differentiates himself from others. Listen to him to do play by play on the radio and you'll hear how it should be done.
magellan 04/04/2000
I don't care how many buttocks he has bitten - it's really none of our business (though it is an amusing image). The bottom line is that I enjoy watching professional basketball when he is the play by play guy. His dry sarcasm is therapy to Walton's idiocy.
