I love this classic christmas show, and always have! However, I feel children today would be bored with it given the cartoon programing now days. Its a shame, cause this was an important christmas program that eventually explains the true meaning of christmas in an easy way for kids to understand. I would make my kid watch it at least once, I mean once they were old enough to start knowing what christmas is really is about.
Claire9018 09/18/2008
I loved it as a kid and am excited that my kids get to watch it and love it too. And if they miss it the first time, they won't have to wait a whole year to see it again. ;)
Melissa3634 09/16/2008
so cute

Disillusioned by the commercialism involved in Christmas, Charlie Brown learns from Linus about the real meaning of the holiday season. I try to watch this every year, and I never get tired of it. It's at the top of my list in the realm of Christmas shows.
ava349 09/08/2008
This was one of my mom and i's favorites

Good for the kids when they were smaller, not for the older ones tho
twansalem 08/28/2008
Along with Rudolph and the Grinch, this is one of the classic Christmas cartoon specials.
UPDATE: I think they deserve extra credit for actually mentioning the birth of Jesus. What a novel concept, a Christmas program actually having something to do with Christmas.
Nillon24 08/28/2008
Manages to be both preachy and boring all while pushing a religious agenda. Oh boy, a cartoon sermon...what fun for the kids!!
®å©îñ Gî®l 08/28/2008
you have to watch this every x mas
KRISTYN718 08/23/2008

A CLASSIC.I thought that the little tree was funny.A great line by Linus:"Of all the Charlie Browns in the world, you're the Charlie Browniest".And remember when Snoopy kissed Lucy?Man,she freaked out:"I HAVE DOG GERMS!GET ME SOME DISINFECTANT!"All poor Snoopy can say was Arrrrgh.Yes,the show tried to point out the commercialism of the holidays, but above all it was good goofy fun.
AlphaSpirit 12/19/2004
My Daughter gets to do the Linus speech during her grade school Christmas play and I couldn't be prouder due to the content of that speech. Classic and Enduring. Its too bad alot of people still haven't grasped the True Meaning Of The Speech.
Sharon3802 12/11/2004
A Charlie Brown Christmas is my absolute all-time favorite Christmas special. I was only 6 years old when it first premiered, and have faithfully watched it every year. Just this year I bought the DVD so I could watch it on my computer. A Charlie Brown Christmas emphasizes the real meaning of this holiday. The birth of Jesus Christ. I read some of the reviews and those that didn't like it probably don't believe in God. But this is my opinion, so if anyone hasn't seen it yet, do so.

A bit long of tooth, but still a Classic. The Charlie Brown Christmas song is great.

charlie brown and the peanuts gang is always great, and especially on christmas.
irishgit 11/30/2004
I've always loved this, when I was a kid because of the cartoon, and now because of the fine jazz score. The Lucy and Linus cut is one of the instrumentals that always says Christmas to me.
Jason1972 12/18/2002
It will always be a classic, I'll never get tired of watching it.
747BraniffPlac e 12/07/2002
It does have a good message. BUT--to me, the message about the true meaning of Christmas made practically no sense when I saw the Peanuts characters in our local newspaper proclaim "Only XX Shopping Days Until Christmas" just a few years after I initially saw this show. If the creators of this program really believed in the message that this program was trying to convey, then they would not have allowed the shopping days announcements to air in the newspapers--nor would they have allowed the Peanuts books, stationery, greeting cards, decals, dolls, sweatshirts and everything else to be sold!! The Peanuts people were doing their part to encourage the commercialization of Christmas, which the Charlie Brown Christmas special took a stand against. What right do they have to be so hypocritical?
hrod 11/11/2002
Without "A Charlie Brown Christmas" it just would'nt be Christmas. Pick it up on VHS or DVD--you won't be disappointed.
lukskywlkr. 10/24/2002
Genuine Christmas classic. I always think of poor Charlie Brown and that little tree bending over til it almost breaks. Everyone finally realizes the real meaning of Christmas just in time.
kiwi8577 04/18/2002
The best Christmas special ever made! I can watch it any time of the year! Not just at Christmas!!
LoneUSFullHous eFan 03/07/2002
It would not be Christmas without three things for me, Charlie Brown Christmas, Rudolph The Red Nosed Reindeer, and A Christmas Story
Molfan 01/11/2002
A classic Christmas special I have seen since I was a child. A sweet story with the Peanuts gang. I love the scene where Linus gets on stage and explains the real meaning of Christmas.I feel for Poor Charlie Brown is sent to pick out a Christmas tree and chooses a tiny little tree. the kids are mean to Charlie Brown about his choice of tree and he leaves discouraged. Later the gang finds the tree is not so bad after all and decorates it.they yell Merry Christmas Charlie Brown, and sing Hark the Herald Angels Sing. A likable little story. One of the few that talks about the birth of baby Jesus.
pikachan 01/10/2002
This is one of the greatest holiday specials created. Charlie brown gets casted director of the holiday play, and he really wants to know what christmas is about. One of my favorite scenes is where he picks a tree that looks like it would die. You have to see for yourself what happens. Tge music is also great too.
ellajedlicka21 12/15/2001
This is the earliest holiday-related program I recall seeing in my childhood. The Charlie Brown crew finds the meaning of Christmas when Charlie Brown gets that rather diminutive tree for all of his friends.
otlady27 12/06/2001
I can't wait to watch this one tonight. So what if the animation is primitive- it was the mid 1960s when they made this, so cut them some slack. Its quaintness and simple message are timeless. And who can resist the silly, funky dancing sequence- that alone is worth the time to watch it.
Potch1214 11/27/2001
A fantastic Christmas story that reminds us quite eloquently and powerfully what Christmas is really all about. The beginning is great Peanuts jokes and such, with an underlying storyline of Charlie Brown being disillusioned by the commercialization of Christmas. But when you get to Linus' speech, taken from the bible, the whole show stops and you are treated to a genuine moment. A moment of clarity, sanity, peace, love and truth. That's what Christmas is all about, Charlie Brown. A cartoon that packs one heck of a whallop. In my opinion, the best Christmas story ever.
Snoopy 08/21/2001
I have watched this so many times and I never get tired of it.
afterglow70 06/21/2001
I just hate Peanuts. Sorry, this is the stupidest thing in the world. My kids don't even like it.
CastleBee 04/17/2001
"That's what Christmas is all about Charlie Brown." Yep, Linus nailed that one the way few other so-called Christmas specials (whose producers obviously suffer from a lack of understanding or intestinal fortitude) ever have. So openly truthful - I'm honestly surprised it's still allowed to run.
angel859500 12/23/2000
I can remember wtching this every year, my mom can remember watching this every year, how could anyone not like it, the music is perfect too.
Canes Girl 12/16/2000
great music - get the disk
flai4749om 12/14/2000
This is the "classic" of all Christmas specials. No other program ever captured the true meaning of the holiday better than the Peanuts.
PoorOldEdgarDe rby 12/11/2000
I'm hesitant to speak up about this because I know how much everyone loves Charlie Brown, but I think not only this special but all of the Charlie Brown specials really stink. In fact I don't think I've ever seen the whole Christmas special before. It was on tonight and I was trying to make an effort to sit through as much of it as I could but I couldn't make it more than fifteen minutes. It's just so incredibly boring I can't take it. Herky jerky animation with pencil point thin lines. The whole think looks like it was filmed straight from the story boards. And hey I know Charlie Brown says that no one likes him that's why he didn't get any Christmas cards but I think his friends are worse than he is, what a bunch of losers. Charlie ought strike out on his own.
alicat 12/11/2000
Being a huge fan of Charlie Brown and the gang growing up, the specials were always a treat. I really like the Charlie Brown Christmas. It is a good story about the little tree that Charlie picked out.

It's such an adorable movie, how could you ever give it less than five stars?

This is one of my holiday favorites...it's not Christmas without Charlie Brown and his friends!

The detractors are in the minority on this one.

This feature is briming with hope and clings to old-fashioned values and beliefs. A Christmas story that actually focuses on Christ. How novel
