Every year as I was growing up I couldn't wait to see these holidays shows. Now that I have them all on DVD, I don't seem to care as much. The music from this show was awesome, and I tend to listen more to the soundtrack than watch the show. It's still a classic though.

From the standpoint of Christmas tunes, Rudolph is a treasure trove: The theme song, Holly Jolly Christmas, Misfit Toys, Silver and Gold. Burl Ives is great. The story is a variant of the Rocky theme. Losers work together and become winners. Watching the special as a kid, the story was quite scary with that nasty Snow creature.

Santa is a usurper. There are many lessons in this classic. Not sure if any of them are good. Santa teaches Donner to be ashamed of himself for having a freak kid. In return Donner passes it on to Rudolph. The head elf teaches Hermey conformity. Mrs. Donner is submissive. She doesnt even have a name. They call her Mrs. Donner. Santa is a binge dieter. Christmas town sends all of its freaks to an island. Santa doesnt even know where it is. In the end Santa only asks for help from Rudolph because he is in a bind. Exploit the freak for personal goals. This is a good movie for kids.

A very sweet little show about a Reindeer with a red nose. this has been around since I was a little girl. I remember it when it was 90 minutes. It still holds up today. Ruldolph is rejected by his fellow reindeer because he has a red nose. and runs away. He meets an elf and they become friends. they meet the gold digger Cornelius. and end up on the island of Misfit toys. I loved the fact that this little "misfit" reindeer ends up being the hero in the end. I like how this show teaches about acceptance.I watched this when I was a child and now my kids enjoy watching it.

It was really good as a kid but it suprisingly didn't hold up too well as I got older.

My All-time favorite. Used to look foward to it all year. It was the apex of my Christmas season. I watched it with my 5 year old tonight. Then I explained to her that when daddy was her age, there were no VCR's or DVD's and if you missed it when it was on, you had to wait a whole year to see it again. She was just amazed that at one time, there were no VCR's. Go figure.

This is my favorite movie of all time! I've seen in hundreds of times, yet it always moves me to tears! My favorite part is when Santa asks Rudolph to guide his sleigh. That gets me every time.

Another must-watch show during the Christmas season. Have a Holly Jolly Christmas is one of my favorite yuletide songs.

Greatest holiday tradition I have had since I was about 5.

The story of Rudolph, based on the story of the song. A classic to anyone in the age group of about 25-45. This is one of the ones we grew up on, and it still holds up today. A pure delight.

great music. can't beat Burl Ives singing Silver and Gold.

This was always my favorite holiday special, and I thought it was beautiful, especially the part when Clarice sings "There's Always Tomorrow For Dreams to Come True". I even wrote down the entire movie in book form for my Dad, one Christmas(I was seven!) It always made me cry, but I always loved it!

My personal favorite, although Rudolph is such a tool! The bumble is a formidable villian.

Growing up, I could never resist watching "Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer," even though I felt traumatized for weeks afterwards. I was horrified by the cruel treatment Rudolph received from his sadistic flying coach, and it was almost too much when Rudolph set out into the wilderness with that funky dentist elf. (Thank goodness the two of them hooked up with Yukon Cornelius because they never could've handled the Abominable Snowman on their own.) Throw in the scary scenes with the Abominable Snowman and those poor toys nobody wanted (the worst part of the whole show), and I was a basket case. I always endured to the end knowing that things would improve, but it was still painful to watch. Even though I'm an adult, I still watch this show every year and remember how I felt watching it as a kid.

"Nobody wants a Charlie in the box!" (spoken with the cracking voice of a 13 yr. old boy). One of the best! The island of misfits toys is a great twist to the movie. Yukon Cornelius is awesome as well. Nibble nibble nibble "nuttin!"

Teaches a great lesson about each person's special qualities and each special quality can make a difference. Sometimes I refer to my group at work as "the island of misfit toys."

Rudolf is a great story in showing that even bullys can change and see the truth. Rudolf doesn't change who he is, he just realizes he has do what a deer has to do. The ending when the little doll say "I don't have anymore dreams left to dream" can still make me cry.

it teaches us to find the talents of each individual

I like that scene where Rudolph is flirting with the girl deer and doing pretty good until she discovers that he's wearing a fake nose. I can relate to that a lot.

Love it! Rudolph..the ultimate underdog made into hero! The land of the misfits is my favorite!
