One who lived a life on the wild side and documented it for all of us who don't have the guts. Warren documented at first the seamy side of LA life, Poor Poor Pitiful Me, but then went all the way to the other side of the world, The Envoy, the under world, Roland the Headless Thompson Gunner and the after life, Your Ride is hear. He was unapologetic and completely honest, and wrote his own eulogy, not just on his final album the Wind, Keep Me in Your Heart When I'm Gone, but also long before that with Desperadoes Under the Eaves.

I like Warren Zevon. Zevon is one of the most underrated songwriters in the history of music. Sadly classic rock seems to shy away from most of his work except for the fun novelty song "Werewolves of London." Zevon, in fact, has a ton of better written songs and most of his albums are a solid listen. I took one star away because some of his songs are a little out there and he is admittingly an acquired taste.

What doobies said..but I have a confession. I was unaware that Zevon was not already in the HOF. That is a disgrace, particularly in light of some of the garbage they have inducted over the last few years.

Warren Zevon's songwriting was genius. He wrote about subjects few others dared to go and blended those lyrics with very catchy tunes. He was appreciated and admired by many top entertainers such as...Jackson Browne, Linda Ronstadt, Bruce Springsteen, Jeff Porcaro, Mick Fleetwood, John McVie, Don Henley, Ry Cooder, Joe Walsh, Dwight Yoakam, Billy Bob Thornton, Clint Eastwood, and David Letterman. Most of us know his most famous song "Wherewolves of London" but his catalog runs much deeper. His last album was titled "The Wind" and that album alone tells part of the story and gives appreciation to Zevon as one of the best singer/songwriters of his (or any) generation. The RRHF needs to get off their butts and induct Warren Zevon NOW!!

One of my favorite artists and one of the great lyricists of rock. Here's a guy who goes out as he chooses, and got the opportunity to do it on national TV.

He's gone now. The Big C got him. I feel honored to have seen him perform live a few times and to have met him once. (We were both loaded so I'm not sure it counts) A brilliant talent.
