That is what I like about Peanuts, it represented all races and Franklin proudly represented black America.

Schulz simply introduced Franklin as another character, not a political statement!!!! I DEFINATLY AGREE WITH SFALCONER AND DEFINATLEY DO NOT AGREE WITH SITCOMMWRITER!!!!!

I know that he's the token minority but Schulz couldn't use him more because he came relatively late and to make some reference to his blackness was against Schulz's style, which never mentioned current issues too directly. Also his quoting the Bible wasn't so far away from Linus' making famous quotes. At best he's neutral.

Big ups to Charles Schulz for self integration of his comic strip. Franklin was cool and anyone, even the Peanuts gang, would like having him around. He's the Sidney Poitier of comics.

i have to be franklin in my school play. We are doing "youre a good man charlie brown" and there are only 6 characters with lines. I didnt get any of the 6 speaking parts because they made a mistake on the cast list. i was supposed to be lucy. but i ended up franklin and i was upset beacuse I didnt know who he was. I looked him up online and realized how important he is. i am now obsessed with franklin and i have pictures of him on my walls. he does need more in the comics though.when you really think about him, hes probably the most important and meaningful character.

Franklin's good, but he would be great if he were given enough lines and the proper air time, as the rest of the "Peanuts"gang are.His own home and family are never present.And why doesn't he have a last name? No offense to the late great Charles Schultz, but, is it I , or do you smell "Token Black Friend Syndrome"?
