 | jred (0) 08/04/2003 | A great sport for those who wish to challenge themselves without the crutch of a team to fall back on. Balance, power, endurance, spatial awarness and patience are required. Climbing is a sport best suited to the more confident individual.

 | CanadaSucks (50) 06/08/2003 | I'm biased, I hate rock climbing as a sport because the participants seem to form cliques the fastest. . .outdoorsy snobs that don't have the courage to play team sports

 | granfalloon (0) 06/25/2001 | A fun and envigorating sport both indoors and out. I prefer outdoor climbing, though. It's just more fun to be outside and scaling real cliffsides like some action movie hero.

 | afterglow70 (1) 06/20/2001 | I would really like to try it, but then I watched Vertical Limit. It was a scary thing. They beginning is rather disturbing.

 | artbuf (0) 03/07/2001 | Climbing in a Gym is a challenging experience. Everyone on the ground is the expert for the route you are on...although most have probably never been on it yet. You have an additional feeling of "safety", however irrational that belief is (same equipment, most likely the same belayman.) But, for the REAL experience, you have to hit some real rock, out in the "wild". In Dallas, we have several bridges and train trestles that people climb. Driving for a couple of hours, you can hit some really good 40 footers in Mineral Wells. The thrill is a mix of excitement from achieving something difficult, and the very real, natural fear that the sudden stop at the end of a fall could be very uncomfortable. A definite "must try", but be SURE you go with someone experienced your first time, who knows how to properly secure the protection and belay you on the climb.
