How can you not love this bumbling idiot??  He is typical of most males I know ~ go to work, come home, eat dinner like it will be the last meal ever ~ go to the bar, lay on the coach and watch tv, get hurt easily, but are oblivious to the fact of hurting others, etc.  Oh wait ~ that's me (just kidding!).  How can you NOT laugh at him???

Homer is a paradox. Frank Grimes, (or Grimey as Homer called him), put it best, he is lazy, dim witted, and overweight. But yet Homer somehow manages to succeed, sometimes by blind luck.

He is married to wife who loves him, even though he has done things, that would cause normal marriages, to end.  Is probally, not the best example of  a great dad, but his kids still love. 

And he has time and time, nearly destroyed or destroyed his place of work, but yet is still employed there.

And that what makes Homer, an interesting, if not flawed charecter.

in one of homer's best appearances, the gang is together at lenny's house playing poker. homer drops his cards, claiming defeat while at the same time his hand reads straight flush or something. moe gets so angry he's choking on (his) own rage here. carl says, hey, don't yell at homer, just because he's a little slow. close up to homer's eyes. homer thinks to himself. something said, not good...don't yell at homer!? no, that's ok. slow...THEY SAID YOU'RE SLOW! now, no longer only thinking HOW DARE YOU CALL ME SLOW! he says, only to find the gangs gone home and lenny is looking for something to eat. so lenny says, you're still here? boy you are slow. once again, close up to homer's thinking eyes, something said, not good...!

homer is one of the best cartoon characters.i think in the beginning the star was bart but i think he has lost some of his fans to his father. bart is just a brat but homer is just that homer nohing more

Homer Simpson, as does the rest of this show, exemplifies the the worship this country seems to have with stupidity and ill manners. We glorify the disgusting.

Homer is definitely a paradox. Here's an overweight, far-from-handsome, unintelligent dolt who somehow has a decent job, a wonderful wife, a nice home and simply succeeds where other people in his shoes fail miserably. In other words, his entire life is pulling a Homer. His ignorance is often painfully exposed at his own expense, but that's what makes him such a great character (and a great show).

Homer has by far the best lines on the show: So, Mr Molloy, it seems that the cat has been caught by the very person who was trying to catch him. Marge, please, old people don't need companionship. They need to be isolated and studied, so it can be determined what nutrients they have that might be extracted for our personal use. Okay, don't panic. To find Flanders, I just have to think like Flanders! - I'm a big four-eyed lame-o and I wear the same stupid sweater everyday and...The Springfield River!

Lets face it there would be no Simpsons with out Homer J. His stupidity knows no bounds which is only over shadowed by his bad manners. Truely an animated classic for all time. Pass me a flaming Homer.

Homer shouldn't even be able to function but is still the centerpiece of the show.

Homer is the stupidest TV character I've ever seen. He's stupider than all Three Stooges combined. He's also the funniest character -- live and 'toon combined -- to appear on TV. The Simpson's secret to years of success was going from a Bart-Centric format early on to a Homer-Centric show. The show is 16 years old and still is edgy and funny (As I always say, the worst episode of the Simpson's is still funnier than every episode of Friends combined).

Homer may not be the smartest person, and sure he can be a bit lazy, he likes to drink Duff beer, and has a dead end job at the nuclear power plant, but he's a good person who dearly loves his family.

Way too overrated! Why isn't the show about Bart anymore? That was the reason the show started in the first place.

Homer is the best character on "The Simpsons" because of his hilarious gags such as,"D'oh!" and "Why you little !!!!" these all go to make the funniest character on tv. When the show finishes i for 1 will be a very sad man as i love the simpsons.

i have mixed feelings about homer. he is one of the stupidest characters today. he is so stupid it just gets annoying seeing him being the subject of every episode based off his stupidity the entire show has gone down hill. evryone in the simpson family has gotten more dumb except for lisa wich she has gotten smarter too smart for an eight year old. however, in the first four seasons i think homer and the simpsons were the funniest character and show on television

Words alone cannot describe Homers' genius. Fav line: When Moe has to get gid of his car for the insurance money, Moe is planning how Homer should get rid of the car in his Tavern. Moe:"All right Homer, this toy car will represent the car and this olive is you, Okay?" (Homer eats the olive) Homer:"Mmmmmm.....me."

My God. The Simpsons are great, Homer is an amazingly funny character. All around, its the best piece of animation you can get.

Homer is the main character and does his role very well. He's probably my 2nd most favorite character. Homer is one of those people who are really dumb, but somehow end up saving everything from disaster!

My Favorite Homer episode is the one with Mindy, the first women to work at the nuclear power plant. (Though they never play this epidsode anymore) I loved the song "Oh margie you came and you found me a turkey on my vacation away from workie..."
