ItemImageLisa is Homer Simpson's 8-year-old saxophone-playing daughter. Quote: "It seems every week something odd happens to the Simpsons. My advice is to ride it out, make an occasional smart-aleck quip, and by next week we'll be ready for another wacky adventure."

Slightly annoying, highly unrealistic character. Very few eight-year olds have any political sense, yet Lisa is able to challenge local politicians (or any adult figure of authority, for that matter). Likeable in the sense that she is of strong moral character, but really she is just a tired fountain of the same trite rhetoric, show-in, show-out.

I cant believe Lisa hasn't got a higher rating. She is a fantastic character, she stands up for what she believes in and sticks by it to the end.So I guess thats what makes her so unpopular with alot of viewers...but she is the voice of reason. She IS funny, and will always be known as the one with the right point of view.A very highly-defined and emotive girl, and her sax playing is just one of the things that prove it. Go Lisa, and do whatever it takes, no matter what!

When the episode features Lisa- change the channel- preachy nonsense and always factually incorrect

Lisa is the brainy member of the Simpsons. In certain ways she is far beyond her years. She always has a cause she firmly believes in.And she is not at all shy about expressing her opinions about her beliefs.Sometimes to the point of being tiresome.I get the feeling that when she grows up she will be successful in whatever she does. I feel a bit sorry for the fact that I do not think that Lisa has many friends, If any. She is so competitive, and outspoken I think it makes it difficult to make friends with her. All in all I like Lisa though.

Lisa's holier than thou leftwing bullsh!t needs to go. They need to kill her ghastly character off but that will never happen because it's Matt Groenings way of spewing his own leftist tree hugging bullsh!t. I love the show, but if people can't see beyond the message being sent to the idiotic masses then the real joke is on them.

she is the smart character of the cartoon, so she is cool also plus she plays the sax, she knows about a lot of stuff, and she loves animals

She's a foil (or contrast) character. I.E. makes homer seem more dumb/lazy/drunk.

Lisa is very outspoken in her beliefs and always seems to have a cause against things that are morally wrong- e.g, the episode that Homer stole cable. Her extreme intelligence does make her annyoing sometimes but she does make the show more funny, even when she isn't normally funny.

I think a lot of people are missing the point (big surprise there); Lisa is actually a vehicle for making fun of certain attitudes. Look at the episode where she lives in a giant redwood to save it from developers; she volunteers because a) she has a crush on the activist in charge of the group and b) no one wanted to climb up there and miss the Burning Man festival. Classic!

Lisa is a mixed blessing. I still haven't seen her do anything funny at all. On the other hand, her character is used to make the funny scenes, especially with Ralph, Homer, and Bart. If not for Lisa, the show wouldn't be as funny, but Lisa herself isn't funny.

Obnoxious little brat... she almost makes me feel ashamed of caring for causes she supports. Why doesn't she play the sax no more??

Lisa is cute, but her PC-thug and intellectual attitude can be really annoying. I find that my least favorite Simpsons episodes are the ones that largely involve Lisa. I like her better when she acts like an eight year-old.

i love the simpsons but i don't like lisa. she is funny sometimes, but she has a habit of constantly freaking the hell out of me. the most memorable time is when her and homer break into the Egyptian museum. when they come upon the main feature, lisa says something about the velvet rope. she says something like "dad! you can't touch it, it's behind the velvet rope! the VELVET ROPE!!!" she said it in such a voice that i am still haunted by this 8 year old girl.

There are very few TV characters, cartoon or live action, that I have seen who are as worthy of our respect as the wonderful Lisa Simpson. A smart, sensitive and powerful little lady, even growing up with a brattish older brother, an obtuse mother and a father who takes the concept of oafishness to a whole new level has not crushed her spirit to stand strong and stick to your principles come Hell or high waters. Lisa is the voice of reason in a world that makes no sense. Even though her outlook on life often makes her unpopular with her peers (and, very sadly, some viewers), she's able to get on with her life and knows she'll come out on top in the end. In my opinion, viewers who don't like Lisa probably have had no experience what it's like to be like her (and maybe they're just jealous of her mega intelligence). Hearing her play her saxophone is also a real musical treat. Rock on, Lisa!

Lisa is another one of those characters is to set up jokes, and usually doesn't produce her own humorous lines. I must say that without her the show wouldn't be as good but when I rate the characters I think about the lines and moments they are individually responsible for, and Lisa isn't very strong in those areas.

The only smart one of the family. I like her and also happen to agree with her politics. Like others have said, she is essential to the show and pointing out Homer and Bart's ignorance. She is one of the many main characters in the show that have been around the entire series.

Granted, just rubbing out one of the Simpsons wouldn't be right, but she has hardly comtributed jokes to the later years of the shows. Plus, she has become a tree-hugging vegetarian pacifist. That's bad enough. Still, she is the but of some very funny jokes. For that, she passes.

Despite the fact that I don't really agree with Lisa's politics, her being a super-liberal, I kind of sympathize with her. Both me and her have a social conscious and both of us are the rational ones in our families. Marge is too afraid to take a risk, Maggie is a murdering baby and Bart and Homer are sometimes insightful but, well, they're rather hapless. Lisa is the balancing point of the family. Without her, the show would not be funny.

Lisa Simpson is a wonderful character.I know that Lisa was gifted when she was born. Even though she is 8 years old, she is still smart for her age. She usually gets A's in her class [one she cheated for] other than Bart who dosen't do well at all.

I love Lisa. She reminds me of myself when I was growing up. Bratty older brother, misunderstood by peers, views unpopular with the majority, etc. She almost always fights for what she believes in and doesn't take crap from most people. Plus a lot of times she's what makes Homer so funny, by pointing out his dimwittedness. An example goes something like this: "You're not going to eat any meat, Lisa?" "No" "Not pork chops?" "Nope" "Or ham?" "No!" "Or bacon???" "Dad, those all come from the same animal!" "Yes, Lisa, a magical animal from fantasy land!" She also brings up a lot of controversial topics for the writers to poke fun at, which is great. She's a real asset to the show.

Lisa is likeable, yet I don't like her as a character. The episodes which feature her are generally the least interesting, yet I have nothing against her. A paradox perhaps? I don't think so. I think my lack of interest in Lisa as a character is a tribute to the awesome talent of the cast around her.

I'm sometimes annoyed by Lisa's bleeding heart politics (though her trip to Washington DC was inspired), but she's essential to the show's success. I can't believe others are rating her so low!
