the space between his front teeth should be increased to about 4 inches, his stupid grin would improve.....

A lil too dry and boaring style comedy for me.

Letterman and Leno - a close tie for two clever funny comedians.
cablejockey 01/14/2009
I used to watch Dave all the time, now I hardly ever do.
caroline112 12/29/2008
funny mofo
dant2590 10/01/2008
Dave is a icon....he's as funny as Johnny Carson! I LOVE his show. HATE the nights that he's a rerun....he helps me unwind from the day!
danflnn 09/11/2008
Hey dawg, every night you get bitch slapped by Leno. Aint you tired for always being number two?
Spike65 07/17/2008
A brilliant man and creative writer. Just a bit too mean-spirited to be likable. Not nearly as funny or bright as he thinks he is. Have to give him credit for "the top-ten list" and "stupid pet tricks". And when all-else fails drop something off a tall building.

Leno is better.. I only watch Dave if he has someone I really like on there
Amanda905 06/08/2008
don't like listening to him
GenghisTheHun 03/24/2008
I watch the mono and the top ten once in a while. I generally avoid the interviews unless someone I really hate is going to be on. I like people exposing themselves as stupid.
twansalem 03/24/2008
Between Leno and Letterman, I'll go with Letterman every time.
bclaw 03/24/2008
needs to move on his act is tired
trebon1038 03/21/2008
Im not big on the late night talk shows but I prefer Leno to Letterman. I do like the top 10 lists though.
disgust4PCness 08/31/2007
I used to really enjoy Letterman...on NBC...however, he's been completely inconsequential to the pop culture landscape for 15-20 years. The only time he gets coverage these days is when that pyscho lady stalks him.
FranksWildYear s 05/15/2007
The only place on TV where real people can be seen. Dave has matured as a broadcaster and can now turn any guest or situation into worthwhile watching. He can make a boring statesman an interesting interview subject and he can chide a egotistical young superstar into being humble. He is the best of the class at improvised comedy and flies without a net when he does bits with his studio audience. His routines may be stale sometimes, but they are still done with the right flare and like his mentor Johnny, sometimes he is at his best when he is flopping and struggling to make the best of a bad situation.
SharonParry 12/12/2006
I can't say he's terrible but I just don't think humor is much related to how many insults you can throw at other people, especially in the same business as yourself or similar fields. He's never been my cup of tea.
ZIPPY57 11/18/2006
I LOST ALL RESPECT FOR LETTERMAN AFTER THE WAY HE TREATED BILL O'REILLY. WHETHER YOU LIKE OR DISLIKE O'REILLY,IT WAS AMATUERISH AND SHAMEFUL TO TREAT A GUEST THAT WAY. LETTERMAN CAME OFF AS AN ARROGANT IGNORANT TWIT. BYE BYE,AND HELLO LENO.
ungodlyugly 07/06/2006
Been going downhill for years now...
Extra25 07/04/2006
Never made me laugh once. This show can not touch Leno.
EschewObfuscat ion 01/05/2006
Consistently loses the ratings war to Leno. And it takes a real genius to make Bill O'Reilly look like a classy guest. His empty-headed ambush of O'Reilly pleased his crowd but made him look more like a clod than usual. O'Reilly handled his hissy fit with class and restraint, including the boos and catcalls from his audience. Who wrote down the questions for him, Chris Mathews?
dragonman 11/07/2005
I've been a loyal watcher for many years. I like his style much more than Lenos, he just seems more laid back and real to me.
grvideos 10/15/2005
dave and jay tied for first place on tv talk shows.
johnny2tune 09/20/2005
Better then ever. Dave is the best, its great when he has an edge.
Working-Class_Hero 09/19/2005
bad, and whenever u watch it u just keep on strugglin to smile .. but some of the shots were slighly useful but FUNNY hell NO :o(
gimligaugi 09/13/2005
Rarely funny. Just as lame as Leno.
honest lawyer 06/11/2005
The best! Only one better was Johnny Carson (I sure miss him)
gocatsgo 02/12/2005
A rave for dave!
tocwelsh 02/05/2005
When it comes to boring and extremely unfunny people, David Letterman is the king,,,,,,,,,,,, The audiences must be carefully selected, they must be one of a kind that will laugh at almost anything!...got to be a minus 1...
Mooselover 02/03/2005
Use to be funnier earlier but now his humor never funny and really dull. What Happened?
louiethe20th 01/22/2005
I love Dave!He can be a little over-the-top at times and is a little crude for my taste at times as well, but his show is very entertaining.
jaywilton 12/29/2004
Some unique combination of snobbery and Seinfeld-without any humor.
bitzer2000 12/08/2004
Letterman used to be on top with his late show on NBC. He has mellowed a little since then. I don't know if that is old age or being on an hour earlier. When it come to comedy he is in my top 10!
bcartist 12/05/2004
I used to love the show, but in the last couple years it seems like it's really gone downhill. They have some pretty stupid bits.
MariusQelDroma 11/10/2004
I still stay up for the Top Ten list. :) UPDATE: I have a dry sense of humor, too, so I rather enjoy Letterman's barbs.
Chalky 11/09/2004
for the love of god, letterman is not funny but i can see how some of you morons might like his dry sense of humor but i'll never get it.
Mr.Political 11/08/2004
The interviews are usually better than the ones you'll find on other comedy talk shows, but the monologues often miss the mark comedy wise. Letterman isn't so much laugh out loud funny but he compensates with the way he interacts with his audience. Still, just not that funny.
Blanco~Nino 08/19/2004
Dave used to be so great because he did crazy things nobody had the balls to do on tv before. And despite the fact that he is a clever guy, i think he is running out of fresh stuff. Nowadays, people don't laugh at him because he's funny, but because he is david letterman, and people respect him.
aarownhere 06/21/2004
comes off as too arrogant, not funny, very smart, but boring. Needs better writers
Harper Maddox 06/21/2004
Comedy too intelligent for Leno
wiley1827 06/14/2004
He seems like the nastiest and unhappiest person on TV. Writing sometimes good but his personality is spookey and seems to be neurotic in the extreme. I should go to bed earlier - waste of my time.
evenchaya 05/21/2004
Have loved Letterman since he FIRST came on! He is the MASTER innovator and even Conan (who I also love) regards Letterman as a mentor! GREAT JOB! Even when an interview is going wrong, it seems so right with Letterman at the helm! Thanks for a great job DAVE!
Mr Joshua 05/04/2004
I've gone to see the Late Show 4 times. The first time was because I wanted to, the other three were friends from out of town who had their heart set on seeing him. Each time I have gone, the people ushering you in as well as the producers say, What we want from you is to laugh no matter what. Even if you don't get the joke or don't really like it, just laugh and clap along because chances are it's funny... A few times when the entire audience didn't laugh or clap, they stopped the show, re did the scene or skit until everyone laughed. Now that is pathetic. He gets paid 33 million per year and has to force people to laugh and clap for him.
Molfan 04/28/2004
do not watch too often since it is on so late. He can be real witty. I like his ten best lists. he has a pretty good repore with his guests.
bubbaknowsbest 03/26/2004
David whoooooooooo????????Oh, is he still on?
Cosmo Renfro 03/12/2004
The Late show with David Letterman is a great talk show and will always be the best. Ever since Johnny left there hasn't been anyone as classic or funny besides Dave. He is now truly the king and should of gotten the Tonight Show instead of Lame Leno.
Senor Anthrax 03/11/2004
I wish I could give him a 0. He never does anything fun any more. All he does is know your current events, pysic sandwich, and will it float. I liked it when he did stuff like working at McDonalds and go snowboarding. Now he never leaves his desk. Most of the time the news is funnier than his show. He should step down and let Conan take his place.
oldkraut 03/05/2004
Has gotten too raunchy and with the naked guy on the set has stepped over the bounds of common deceny
Redoedo 03/02/2004
While certainly not as good as he used to be, David Letterman can still hold his own and I believe that he is still the best late night talk show host. His style is not too over the top (like Conan's) or too contrived and desperate (like Leno's). He's entertaining without being too overbearing. He's generally an entertaining guy and is respectful to his guests. Letterman's still the king of late night.
