I used to really like Oprah and have a ton of respect for her but her show started a few years ago to be mostly about women's' issues. Not that I have a problem with that but it got old. The gift stuff is cool but I'm not home to watch it now since changing jobs awhile back.

I admire Oprah as an incredible business person and as an influence of pop culture - who else could push Brothers Karamazov to the best seller list? Yet, I am not compelled to watch her show.

I watch the occasional episode. I guess I got over it when she only interviewed celebs and completely bi-passed the real world, real issues etc. The "occasional episode" that i DO watch - happens to be when she gets back to reality and focuses on somethign with substance.

an almost four. more of a 3.5. I do not watch this everyday. some of her topics are good.others well just turn the channel. I like Oprah, she does good for charities, she is smart. I am not one of those fans who hang on her every word like some of those gals in her audience. on occasion she does seem a bit full of herself. for the most part she is good.

This woman has reached the point whereby she thinks of herself as some sort of goddess. And it sure seems there are a lot of people who see her that way. I just don't see it!

Oprah had a local teacher gave her fifth grade class an assignment: Get their parents to tell them a story with a moral at the end of it. The next day the kids would come back, be on the show and one by one tell their stories.

Kathy said, "My father's a farmer and we have a lot of egg-laying hens. One time we were taking our eggs to market in a basket on the front seat of the pickup when we hit a bump in the road and all the eggs went flying and broke and made a mess."

"And what's the moral of the story?" asked Oprah.

"Don't put all your eggs in one basket!"

"Very good," Oprah exclaimed. "Now, Lucy?"

"Our family are farmers too. But we raise chickens for the meat market. We had a dozen eggs one time, but when they hatched we only got ten live chicks. And the moral to this story is, don't count your chickens until they hatch."

"That was a fine story Lucy." "Johnny, do you have a story to share?"

"Yes, ma'am, my daddy told me this story about my Grandpa who was a fighter pilot in World War Two, and his plane got hit. He had to bail out over enemy territory and all he had was a bottle of whiskey, a machine gun, and a machete. He drank the whiskey on the way down so it wouldn't break. Then he landed right in the middle of 100 enemy troops. He killed seventy of them with the machine gun until he ran out of bullets, then he killed twenty more with the machete till the blade broke; then he killed the last ten with his bare hands.

"Good heavens," said the horrified Oprah, "What kind of moral did your daddy tell you from that horrible story?"

"Don't F**K with Grandpa when he's been drinking!"

I'm in the middle of the road. She definitely is inteligent. For that she gets a point. She can have another point for the nice things she does for people. A third point can be gotten for the hard work, time and effort, not to mention expense it took for her to get where she is. I admire perserverance. I take one point away because of her allowing her own show to get stale and boring the past year or two. The other point she can't have because after she does those nice things for others, she gets way too pumped up and full of herself like Starburst said.

I have alot of respect for Oprah, but I think shes run her course. The topics over the last 2 or 3 seasons are from the bottom of the idea bin, or they are ones that shes covered in past seasons. I think its time for her to try new venues like maybe a reality show.

Oprah is the American success story. Even with her billion, she still looks at her audience and talks to her public like a genuine human being who cares deeply and wants to change things for the better. I want to add that she could start changing the world by having the feeble minded uneducated moronic piss for brains dumb shits that add their two sentences of blah blah misspelled garbage to this forum. Then she could present them to the world as the fools that they are. Excuse me. Just needed to get that off my chest.

I'm sick of her. Her show used to be good when she wasn't lazy. Now she might as well be any housewife televising her get-togethers with friends, only that her friends are Hollywood stars and writers. She has completely alienated her male audience ever since her format change god knows when in the 90's, and the stuff she tells women is just downright stupid and dare I say, harmful. Oprah now thinks she's lord above everything, and every word she says must be revered. She reminds me of the arrogant woman in power who belittles men by asking stupid questions that she feels makes her stronger. You know, in regards to the James Frey case, Oprah, you recommended the book. This is your mistake. Most of these authors are liars and schmucks anyway. What is the point of belittling the author? Just admit the mistake and move on. I'm completely sick of this distortional show, and it's a great example of what is wrong with women. The reasoning of women on this show is a great example of why they aren't regarded as equals by men. The real world just doesn't operate like this. Men will realize the guy is a fraud, tell him to go to hell and move on. Women will bear a grudge and try to humiliate him...and keep on doing it stupidly, like it accomplishes anything...'GIRL POWER!' WHATEVER. Here's to the day this crappy show dies.

Oprah is a smart aleck! It has been a month since I started watching her show again(the last time I watched Oprah was years ago)and I must say that oprah has changed so much....and for the wrong path. The episodes are what my rating said...one star and terrible! The worse part of the show comes later and it is called The Secret Lives Of Teen Girls. This is a part that is dark and way to deep and brings the show down and makes it look stupid in other episodes. Both Oprah and her show are not what they used to be. I would rather watch Ellen Degeneres(I hope that I got her name right).

She does seem to really want to help people, but I find her very tiresome. Apparently she feels she's reached such a pinnacle of perfection in her life that she can advise the rest of us how to live our lives. I can think for myself and I don't need to watch a silly talk show to find out what book I should read or what trend I should adopt.

I usually make it a point not to watch this show. Many guy's do, so I don't think that may be any earth shattering surprise to anyone. However, I don't watch, not because the show is very touchy-feely, but because the show always tend to become obnoxious at one point or another and I feel Oprah is given a pass on too many things that others in her field aren't.

Oprah Winfrey is still the best talk show host now! There were a few years where she kind of slacked off a bit, but she has succeeded the rest of the time. She has some positive themes in her topics. I love it every time she has Patti LaBelle as a musical guest on the show--she's a huge fan of her. The 50th birthday show had lots of surprises! She provides insight and advice for her guests. I like it when she can admit her faults and mistakes on some shows. She can be funny on some shows, especially the one time that she went to shop at a Costco store in the Chicago area. Going wow! at almost everything! (funny) I hope that she continues to make great shows into her 25th year in 2011! By that time, her competition of Ricki, Jerry, Maury, Montel and others will have already vanished or been canceled!

Oprah is the BEST talk show out there. I don't what you people are talking about who say it is boring... maybe you are too immature to really appreciate the topics the Oprah show shares with us! She has interesting guest stars, she helps sooo many people, and she gives away a whole lot of stuff. It's so much better than the trash that Jerry Springer shows and the waste of time show like Ricki Lake. Oprah ROCKS!!!

This woman is awesome! She makes us aware of what is really happening in this world. She is an angel of God and is selfless in her generosity to others and making people's dreams come true. Bless you, Oprah! I don't think she cries too much on her show. It shows she is human and that she feels the pain for others. She has a wonderful and very big heart.

every time i happen to catch a glimpse of that show its either 1) she talks about how bad men are 2) she talks how all women are victims of men 3) see a bunch of fat middle-aged housewives jumping up and down with happily-retarded looks on their faces. i could even forgive all that if the show had any substance, but it doesnt. i honestly cant believe she stayed on the air for so long and became one of the world's richest women because of it.

Howard Stern vs. Oprah Wimphrey - Howard gets fined by the FCC for the following segment yet Oprah does not. Which is more offensive? You decide. The Oprah Winfrey Show Transcript Thursday, March 18, 2004 Clip One Oprah: Lets talk about that secret language Michelle. Michelle: Yes Oprah: I didn't know any of this Michelle: I have yea, I have gotten a whole new vocabulary let me tell ya Oprah: I did not know any of this Michelle: Salad tossing, cucumbers, lettuce tomatoes ok Oprah: ok so so what is a salad toss? Michelle: ok a tossed salad is, get ready hold on to your underwear for this one, oral anal sex, So oral sex with the anus is what that would be. Clip Two Michelle: a rainbow party is an oral sex party it's a gathering where oral sex is performed and rainbow comes from all of the girls put on lipstick and each one puts her mouth around the penis of the gentleman or gentlemen who are there to receive favors and makes a mark um in a different place on the penis hence the term rainbow The Howard Stern Show Transcript Thursday, July 26, 2001 HS: Howard Stern RQ: Robin Quivers MV: Male Cast Member HS: I said to Mark Wahlberg yesterday, had he ever gotten a blumpkin from a girl and everyone around here is acting like they don't know what it is. RQ: You're the only nutcase who does. MV: I said blumpkin on the Norm Show and the network censor, we told him we just made the word up. He goes, that's definitely not a real word right? We go, no,no,no. And I said it, I yelled out at a hooker in a cab. HS: What do you say to her, how about a blumpkin? MV: I go honey, how much for a blumpkin? HS: Right. MV: And uh the network censor never heard of it. And he goes if you just made it up it's fine but if it's a real thing we can't have it. So it's aired, it's been on ABC, it's like the dirtiest thing ever on television. HS: Yeah, but nobody knows what it is. A blumpkin I can explain it cleanly. RQ: There's nothing clean about a blumpkin. HS: Well, a blumpkin is receiving oral sex while you're sitting on a toilet bowl if you are a man. You're sitting on a toilet bowl and uh, while you're evacuating you receive your oral. RQ: Ick. HS: And uh, then, what did I say yesterday too you didn't understand? Balloon knot? RQ: Yes, I don't know what that is. Somebody said to me is that the funniest thing ever? and I was like what is that? HS: A balloon knot RQ: I didn't want to show my ignorance, I laughed too. HS: A balloon knot I'm gonna post these on a web site RQ: Yeah, we need a dictionary for this show. HS: A balloon knot is when you bend over and I can see up right up your old RQ: Up the wazoo? HS: Up the wazoo and uh, you know that's a balloon knot that you see. That's called a balloon knot. RQ: Really, I did not know that. HS: Think about it, it looks like a balloon knot. RQ: I don't know. Oh you know what HS: Tie up a balloon. RQ: I'm just thinking of a balloon knot MV: It all makes sense, Robin, come on. HS: And uh, what else did I say? Nasty Sanchez, you didn't know what that was. RQ: Oh, I don't even want to know half the time what these things are HS: That I'd have to post on the internet. RQ: 'Cause there've been a number of terms used lately. Would you do 'cause KC's always blurtin' them out. HS: Strawberry shortcake RQ: Strawberry shortcake I've never heard of. Dirty Sanchez HS: Nasty Sanchez. RQ: What is the others KC? MV: I heard a new one the other day. It was the David Copperfield. HS: That's right. MV: Okay, do you want to explain it, since I... When you're goin' like a dog HS: Right. MV: and you're about to finish and instead you don't finish, you spit on her and then you turn around and when she turns her face around then you go So it's kind of like an illusion HS: Right. MV: to David Copperfield. RQ: Sleight of hand. HS: Misdirection. MV: Classic misdirection. HS: You trick her. There's a million of them, but uh, I'll post them on the web. RQ: Yes, because people need to know. These aren't in the regular dictionary.

Let's face it, like her or not she is the reigning talk show queen. For me personally Oprah discusses issue's that are almost taboo in some cases and she is the window for America, teaching people to look beyond their borders and sometimes within themselves. How many talk shows have come and gone over the years? How many talk shows have exploited their guests and audiences for entertainment reasons? How many have already made thier mind up by demonstarting such a biased opinion on a topic before their show has even started? Half of these talk show hosts don't give a damn about people's problem's or people in general just the ratings they'll get from their show. Oprah has been around since the early 80's (thats a credit within itself when you consider the fickle genre of talk shows). For me she is the ultimate role model not just for women, but humankind. I must admit sometimes her shows can be mediocre, but the majority of the time I really enjoy watching her show. Some time ago she did a debate with young teens in America about their honest opinions of other races (using their discretion). Some chat shows wouldn't have even dared to have gone there - cowering away from the responsibility and repercussions of their veiwers - and some people simply don't care. That for me showed a woman of courage, integrity, humility and a need to educate people more about the world we live in, shes done exactly this for over 20 years.

Oprah is liberal too. That makes me sick. Of course, I don't care for conservatives (bigots) either. Oprah's focus is all wrong...but that's why her show is so highly rated. The people in her audience are such mindless clones that they remind me of the Limbaughites in a sort of oxy-moronish way. She should go back to Forsythe County, Georgia...now that was good stuff. Those people really tickled me.
