I admit it helps to be a little on the left in order to feel at home with the Daily show. Jon Stewart, who loves to say what America is thinking right now (or should be) and will bring guests to either argue with or commend. I think Jon's greatest moments are when hes in attack mode (CNN's crossfire or interview with Jim Cramer anyone??). But even though Jon has a vicious side, he knows how to make his audience laugh no matter what the topic is. He is a very funny guy who should never be underestimated in seriousness.

I enjoy the Daily Show a lot more when they stick to guests that fall into the realm of politics. It just seems kinda silly when a random actor or actress comes on to promote a film as if the show has the same demographic as David Letterman.I miss some of the older commentators, but I'm learning to love the new ones (and my fave, Samantha Bee, still makes regular appearances). John Oliver is one of the newer commentators that frequently cracks me up, and I certainly don't miss Lewis Black who I find intolerable.Stewart still amuses me, but I'll admit I don't really make a point to watch The Daily Show nearly as often when there isn't an election going on. He and his writers are at their best when there's a sense of urgency, I suppose.

Watching several news channels, we often used to switch to CNN. But more and more seldom. The first times we saw the Jon Stewart Daily Show, we start to wonder; is the cultural differences between Norway and USA that big? Do the Americans really think this man is funny? Raised on Monte Python and BBC style political irony, Norwegians may be spoiled in this genre. But we find this man plain ridiculous and boring. We used to check CNN, FOX and sometimes the others, but after watching Jon Stewart several times, we steer clear of CNN. When CNN gives this guy that much air time, CNNs professional judgment cant be trusted in other matters too. Ole Hovengen

Funny but start making fun of John Kerry, Ted Kennedy, and Jimmy Carter.
EdfromAZ 02/02/2007
This guy is not only pretty consistantly funny, but takes ownership in the campaign against top down politics (This country is founded on the opposite notion for those that pushed WWE as the top rated show in January...). Thank you Jon Stewart for all of your work.

brilliant and witty

The Daily Show has become one of a handful of shows that I Tivo. The first 20 minutes of the show usually has a couple of laugh out loud moments. Stewart is funny and smart, and when he's on his game he's one of the best in the business. What he does not do well, however, is interview people. I think it's a good thing to have a fake news show was such huge viewership - they do a good job of making fun of the idiocy of some of the mainstream news channels.
freedominmedia 08/15/2006
One of the most important shows on tv. It is a sad comment when the only real news you can get in America is on a comedy show.
GenghisTheHun 04/22/2006
Funny once in a while. Most of the time he is smarmy and boring.
daedalus 02/07/2006
Used to be great but the celebrities that come on to promote movies, books and records have nothing interesting to say and there have been more of them. I much prefer the episodes when he has former government officials who can speak more freely now that they are not employed by the government. Stewart's schtick is wearing thin too. All of the best "correspondents" have moved on and the mock interviews are not as good anymore.
Tiffany1986 02/05/2006
I think this show is so funny. I dont pay too much attention to politics and it gives me a little hint of whats going on, but its fun to watch. CNN? Not fun to watch. Not sure what he'll do if a democrat gets elected though. :)

Actually sometimes the best source for real news left on television, which is indicative of the decline in television news coverage over the past couple of decades.
geog84 01/20/2006
The Bush jokes are getting REALLY old. Find another scapegoat.
boo_thishit 01/10/2006
Jon is the devil. Plain and simple. Oh yeah, he's not funny either, which is why his stand up sucks and he failed miserably at his own show years ago. With the Daily Show, he has a venue for exploiting disenchanted youth and others who think its cool to be all anti-establishment. Not when you can't offer any real solutions; just stupid, rehashed jokes aimed solely at the political group that you hate. I would buy the argument that its just a comedy show if so many people didn't actually rely on it as their only source for getting the news. Even if you watch it, knowing that its all a satire, you are bound to start believing the distorted lies that make their way into the show every night. Disgusting!!!

I love the show. Jon Stewart is the true successer to Johnny Carson. But I really disagree with his attitude towards Christmas and the Cultural War.
Mike_UW 11/17/2005
This is my favorite show. I don't have a television at school so I watch the clips they post on the internet daily. While I agree that this show certainly is slanted left, I don't think that the slant should make it unwatchable to supporters of either side. Intelligent people on either side of the political spectrum should find this show entertaining. My favorite bits are the ones that make fun of 24-hour news channels, especially their hurricane coverage. One of my favorite bits of all time is the Weather Tracker Tracker, Roker Wrangler, the one where the reporter makes fake news by pretending to be blown over by the wind, the CNN reporter who drinks flood water to check its salt content, or the reporter in a rowboat in ankle deep water. I also love when Jon makes fun of the 24-hour news stations' use of talking points. I don't get my political opinions from the show, but I do enjoy the absurdity it points out. It's a shame that Stephen Colbert left. His show, the Colbert Report, is a great parody of pundits' shows like the O'Reilly factor, but the humor is often stale and less clever than I would hope for. That is all. Watch the show. Hook your kids to it as early as possible. Mike (University of Wisconsin-Madison)
GobTheHotCop 10/26/2005
This show is comic genius!! Jon Stewart, Stephen Colbert, Mo Rocca, Lewis Black all crack me up!!! I was a fan when Craig Kilborn hosted, but it's even better now!
amdropem 10/04/2005
God I hope your kidding that this is where you get your news and not your comedy.
samjung23 05/03/2005
Just a tad overrated by the anti-establishment, liberal crowd. His show stinks. What does he care about liberalism and ordinary people suffering under Bush? He's rich! He's going through some kind of mid-life crisis, blaming Republicans and Bush for everything. Stick to comedy and stop getting so serious. And even then, you still weren't funny before!
cba321 02/25/2005
Idiotic conservatives blame it for being liberal as if it's a legitimate show. Besides, they are comedians, of course they are liberal. Conservatives have been trying to ban or defame any remotely interesting art or entertainment for half a century. Idiots.
Justin117 11/24/2004
great, if u r an uber liberal. at least everyone on the show admits to its extreme bias.
southparker9 11/08/2004
Politically left, but one of the funniest shows on television.
justaviewer 11/04/2004
They've turned mundane activities into bouts of laughter...amazing!!!!
Mr.Political 11/03/2004
He's pretty left-wing and can drive me nut's but he can be funny at times.
SpoofMastaS 10/21/2004
almost. best. show. evar. The Daily show is, by far, the best source for news primarily for the fact that the only spin (for the most part) is for comic value. For information about what's really going on in the world, The Daily Show blows every other news network out of the water.
Malachias Invictus 10/20/2004
Jon Stewart is a master of delivery, as are quite a few of his cohorts. Their writing is excellent, and the show is nearly always funny, and insightful as well. It seems that it takes a comedy fake news show to expose the obvious gaffes the mainstream media refuses to cover.
ClassicTVFan47 10/09/2004
Overrated, hit-and-miss, often crude and mean-spirted humor at the expense of honest people expecting a straight news show.
dbeall 10/04/2004
Excellent show. About the only insightful news show on TV. It does not lean left - it simply highlights deceit and stupidity and it Just happens to that the 'neocons' have hijacked the country and the neocons are more prone to deceit and stupidity. Silly electorate for being so easy to decieve. Can Democracy save us or are we not smart enough for Democracy.
EschewObfuscat ion 09/08/2004
As before, funny show if you lean left, as the content of the show does. But, if you're looking for news analysis you're getting it spun from a pro-dem, pro-liberal, anti-republican viewpoint. They make fun of a few leftie icons but they save their real satire for conservatives. If you're looking for information here, you're getting a pretty narrow view.
raterchick 09/01/2004
I'm a student, so I don't have a lot of time to watch TV. As sad as it is, I get pretty much all my news from the Daily Show; because at least I can tell when they're BSing me and they're open about their angle. John and Stephen are hillarious and bawdy, but they're the only newsmen that I'll listen to these days. Their intelligence and honesty couched in satire, is refreshing and somehow the best American journalism being performed today.
Joe23665 07/31/2004
Love this show! Jon has a great set of writers, and serves as the funny ringmaster. Sadly, about the only place left today to get impartial news, it still has me cracking up. I like Lewis Black too.
bibliophile 07/27/2004
Love, love this show! Sometimes it lacks the edge it once had, or maybe I am getting used to it. This is a thinking person's comedic take on the news. It is for open-minded viewers who can still laugh when fun is poked at their favorite politician or pet point of view. Though sacred cows are slain on this show, Stewart is exemplary in his treatment of guests, even guests with whom one suspects he disagrees. Stewart has a great deal of human decency, and it shows.
e_h_barker 06/30/2004
America needs the Daily Show now more than ever. It's brilliant, funny and satirical (satire being, after all, one of the attributes of a healthy democracy). Also, have you noticed how those who hate it are always the ones who threaten violence and can't spell, construct a sentence or punctuate properly?
John Marblough 06/25/2004
I'm conservative and all. But let's face it, the show attacks both sides making Kerry's hypocrisy evident and Bush's orration clearly highlighted to five year old's as well as die hard republicans. But don't mistake the show for real news, the clearly warn against that too.
visitor380 05/24/2004
John's show is the only thing on TV my wife and I watch these days. Thanks to our Tivo we never miss it. It is beyond funny. It is targeted at a more sophisticated crowd. If you love Bush (you are more gullible than sophisticated) then you will hate this show. However Jon does not spare the democrats either. He has made fun of Kerry on many occasions.
jonhere 05/21/2004
I enjoy watching this merely for the entertainment value. I really feel sorry for people who solely rely on him for news. Unfortunately, they are out there and they vote. I know a few. Jeezz, do you think he is a one-sided liberal? Nonetheless, it is an entertaining show at times. I love the field reporters on his show, now they are funny.
evenchaya 05/21/2004
Quick wit, smart, sassy! All this along with providing some great commentary and information!
heinthegreat 04/28/2004
I LOVE THIS SHOW!!! LOL and aint it funny how jon makes those rightwingers go crazy? just look at those comments left by them. And if u dont think he's funny or popular just check the ratings. He has better ratings than cnn or fox at times (at 11 pm when it airs).
blang 04/27/2004
Brilliant satirical commentary. Always current. Interesting guests. For example John Edwards announced his presidential bid in the Daily Show. Stewart says what we all are thinking, but were afraid to say. Beneath all the humour there is a huge chunk of truth.
danastrange 03/31/2004
I love Jon Stewart!
JJBurns84 03/03/2004
This show certainly has its moments, like the whole Wal-Mart piece they had Monday (03/01/04). That was hilarious! Wal-mart uses those trucks to drive what is special about your town out in to the desert LOL, that might have not been an exact quote, but it was something like that. However, their whole Academy Award piece on the same night is a prime example of the Daily Show stretching for comedy. They must have thought, The Academy Awards are Sunday. People expect us to do a piece. I know, just throw some clips together, and have Jon look dumbfounded at everything and complain about how long it was. You know what, we can do this one Saturday and splice in the clips Monday. No one will ever know because the Academy Awards are always long and boring. I know they have to produce 4 shows a week, but c'mon. Jon Stewart can only do so much on so little.
Redoedo 03/02/2004
The Daily Show is great. I would even say that Jon Stewart has Letterman beat. He is witty and entertaining, and still manages to maintain some level of sanity that doesn't turn off viewers (i.e. Conan O'Brien). Stewart is hilarious in delivering the day's headlines, often so much so that the very people he makes fun of on a regular basis are willing to come on his show. He is a great interviewer, always joking around and cutting up with his guests. Stewart is backed up with an entertaining and amusing line of anchors. The thing I like best about this show, however, is that there's no bias. Anyone and everyone on all sides of the spectrum are open to be made fun of on The Daily Show. Jon Stewart is great and this show is just plain awesome and is the king of political and cultural satire.
tvtator 12/02/2003
The Daily Show is one of the smartest and wittiest shows on television. The best thing about is the news stories as hilarious and off the wall as they may be are true, and the news personalities report them with half seriously and half mockingly. Jon Stewart is a great host.
cjgrim 11/06/2003
Outstanding writing. Political humor of the finest quality. Don't ever take this show off the air. Jon Stewart keeps all of those old windbags honest. (from both parties)
StanUzbeck 09/19/2003
The Daily Show is my favourite late night talk show, by far. Jon Stewart has the precise kind of sarcastic humour that appeals most to me, and Steven Colbert's deadpan reports are some of the most hilarious bits I've ever seen on a talk show. I don't think the show is too liberal, because Jon takes shots at all sides. Of course, the right-wing will take offense at everyone who doesn't worship the ground beneath George Bush's feet, that's a given. Jon Stewart seems to be the only talk show host who'll take an irreverant stance on the whole political arena without taking smug cheap shots at his political enemies, like the Limbaughs of this world. America definitely needs more people like him in the media.
OliveQueen88 08/31/2003
This is seriously the best show ever. I absolutly love it. They can turn any topic into the funniest thing in the world. As a 15 year old, it is the only news program I watch. I love the segments to "senior correspondants" do. Mo Rocca is the most amazing man alive. I meen, the show would still be awesome without him but he makes it sooooo much better. Hes so cute in a dorky/intelligent way. The people who say the show's jokes dont make sense, obviously aren't that smart because you have to understand the topic and be some-what intelligent to understand the humor.
Spaz 08/23/2003
the daily show is the best show out there right now. it is smart and funny, and has just the right, stupidity in it as well to even it out. Jon is so hot, and smart and funny, and is a great interviewer. I also love the stories and correspondents. Stephen Colbert rules as does Steve Carell. Best show out there, you all must watch it, and if you think Jon sucks...well F U
mixman 07/18/2003
