 | virgogyrl11 (1) 03/08/2006 | This used to be the only soap I watched until they crossed their storyline with AMC. I prefer AMC now. I'm glad they brought Cristian back, but don't like the whole love triangle with him, Natalie and John. I may stop watching all together if they take "Tess" away from Nash. Not enough good romantic couples to give this a 5 star rating. Worth watching to see the hot guys like Nash, Rex, and Cristian.

 | tvtator (6) 11/15/2003 | I echo trainer's thoughts. This show used to be good when it focused on CHARACTER and when veteran actors like Erika Slezak, Phil Carey, and Pat Elliot mattered. Mind numbing teens were few and far between(although I do like Al & Marcy) Brian Frons would not know how to manage a 7-11, his stupid focus groups have practically ruined this show.

Though Viki can come back anytime from this fundraising tour, sure do miss her. Can't wait to see what happens on One Life.

As far as I'm concerned, it is pathetically bad, and makes me change the channels even faster than when I see a Macy Gray video! IT IS AWFUL!

 | bekayess (0) 01/03/2002 | Now that Jill Phelps is gone, OLTL is back to it's formerly excellent state--character-driven drama, humor and entertainment. Phelps' slow, long-arced stories have been replaced by tighter stories, quicker pacing and entertaining, if not always believeable, stories. Many of the actors continue to be the best on daytime--they've been given good material, as opposed to the mediocre material of Phelps' days. Ericka Slezak, Hillary B. Smith and Catherine Hickland are still the best fems working in daytime TV, and with Ty Treadway and Laurence Lau joining them, OLTL is truly a joy to watch.

 | Barbieqt (0) 11/19/2001 | I love OLTL, but feel that the Jessica storyline is ridiculous - that she's not Vicki's daughter. I feel that Natalie pulled a fast one somehow and is not really a true Buchanan. It's a new story but I can't go for it. Why rock the boat, writers?

 | Rosie the Riveter (0) 11/12/2001 | I have watched since 1968. It was a nice escape from the woes of the world. Now it is the cause of all my woes. I love Lindsay, I want the writers to revive that funny, beautiful woman with such wit and humor that came to the show. She was strong, in love, pulled pranks that got her in trouble, but did she deserve to lose the love of her life, lose her daughter (the little snot) and have no one and nothing. No way, now she is just a pitiful, friendless hopeless woman, not at all fun to watch. Where's the fun on the show? Todd is the only funny person on the show.

 | LisaP (0) 11/06/2001 | I don't like it at all. I thought Gabrielle coming back would be good, but all she did for weeks on end was parade around in her underwear. It was so sleazy. She isn't doing anything for me this time around, even though I liked her before. It's got to be the story they've got her in. And Todd and Blair have been destroyed by their storyline, I'll never accept them together again even though they were my favorite couple for years. They've just done too much damage to each other. Nothing about them even hints at love. Other than that, I hate that so many good actors like John Bolger and Tim Gibbs have been let go or given no storylines until they've decided to leave on their own. Either way, they're gone, and I miss them. All these kids are weak and unbelievable in their parts, but they are the ones the EP wants to keep. That is incredible.

 | persephone (0) 11/05/2001 | I can't even believe this show used to be good! The writing's still alright and most of the cast is pretty talented and capable, but the storylines are incredibly bad. Since when was romance founded on stolen (and presumed dead) babies? Since when did good characters turn bad literally on a dime, with zero explanation? When did everything become about darkness and betrayal and loss? Todd and Blair are a train wreck; their relationship is so depraved as to be unsalvageable, unless of course viewers are willing to settle for any scrap of love they can retrieve from this mess. The Bukes are dwindling fast! Asa does nothing now but plot revenge (that is, before his "death"), Bo and Nora are as far apart as they have ever been (despite what the fans CLEARLY want), Jessica has been summarily replaced in the family by a newcomer (who happens to be a manipulative, insecure, hate-filled LIAR), and solid characters like Kevin and Joey are just GONE. The rest of the show is contrived, with stories like the inane "Chris-cam" fiasco, the laughable "hitman-after-Chris" adventure, and the just plain boring "Antonio-goes-to-college" affair being expected to keep viewer interest...it's just bad.

 | Snowbaby (0) 11/03/2001 | OLTL has become the perfect show for men-who hate women! Women on the show are portrayed as weak, simpleminded creatures who are only on earth to trap a man anyway they can. The current EP has lied to fans of the show from day one, fired fan favourites over and over again and brought in weak, unskilled replacements. The storylines are cruel, repetative, dark, depressing and at times vulgar. Every Llanview family has been destroyed by this regiem and I personally do not think that the show can be salvaged.

 | t_tauri (0) 11/02/2001 | One Life to Live may once have been a great show, but it cannot hold that title any longer, despite valiant attempts by talented actors to overcome the material they are saddled with. The writing is adequate, if not inspired, but the real problem lies in the current "perspective" of the show. This blatant slant toward the teen scene has driven off many longtime viewers like me, and will likely continue to do so. Unfortunately, teenagers are exactly what OLTL wants to focus on now. Gary Tomlin said he would bring back core characters and old favorites; he MUST have meant Gabrielle and Allison Perkins alone. And where are those core characters and families? The Buchanans have been decimated with the loss of both Kevin and Joey; Asa has been turned into a demented old fool; and now even Jessica isn't herself, literally. That sounds to me more like a serious attempt to get rid of all the members of this "core" family. Well, I guess it makes room for more of those talented teens, doesn't it? And don't even get me started on the mess that is Todd and Blair....

 | unique777 (0) 10/14/2001 | One Life To Live is definitely heating up! I love the addition of Troy McIver. I love the return of Max & Gabrielle's romance to the show. Keri is a very good addition and she and Hank definitely have me intrigued. The Viki/Natalie/Jessica storyline has a lot of things going for it, Erica Slezak is once again proving why she has won more Daytime Emmys than any other actress. And, as usual, I love the character of Nora Buchanan.
As usual, the acting is top notch. This may be the finest acting core on daytime television. The only shows who come close to OLTL in the acting category are General Hospital, As The World Turns and All My Children. Kudos to EP Gary Tomlin. He has given the fans back the great show that Jill Farren Phelps and Megan McTavish ripped to shreds and left a total, unwatchable mess. I now look forward to coming home each night and watching my tape of One Life To Live, something I thought I would never be able to say again. Thank you Gary. Bravo!!!

 | hbsnhgb (0) 09/18/2001 | I love the show. While I am at school I record it. I think Hillary Bailey Smith (Nora) is the best actress in daytime. If she isn't on the show that day I don't even watch it. I think she is also very beautiful. And I think people who don't like her are just idiots! When she is on I fastforward to the parts she's on. I would do anything to meet her. I hope her and Sam get together, and maybe a little bit of Troy, but in the end I want her with Bo.

 | labound2002 (0) 08/30/2001 | Right now I think OLTL is not remotely interesting. The only storyline that I care about is the Todd and Blair situation and I'm finding it hard to even keep interested in that. Plus they are getting rid of John Bolger. He has definitely shined as Rae's love interest and I'm sorry to see him go.

 | Salacious Imp (0) 08/21/2001 | Please please..show les of Nora..she is sickening, and even after her facial 'adjustments, now has lost her 'character. This woman is a horrid actor, and she needs to be relegated to the back burner like Viki , Renee etc...at least Viki is a good actor..but enough already of Nora...I and several other people I know were sort of hoping she would meet her demise..or leave the show..as a matter of fact when she is on..I turn off..C'mon, no men in their right minds would trip over their shoes going after her..her personality is catty and gossipy...and she certainly isn't pretty with her slack jaw mien and manly features..she is a whiney drip...c'mon you all can do better... much...

 | starsearch (0) 08/21/2001 | One Life To Live is the soap opera to watch right now. The return of Gabrielle Medina, the Troy/Colin character, the dastardly deeds of Lindsay Rappoport, the heroine of the show - Nora Buchanan, Todd Manning, Blair Cramer and their daughter Starr, the return to prominence of the Max Holden/Gabrielle Medina romance, and the Teen Scene lead by Jessica Buchanan, Cristian Vega, Al Holden and Natalie Balsam are just some of the reasons to watch. The show's writing is crisp and exciting. The pace of the show is usually very swift. Currently, OLTL is keeping five storylines on the frontburner at the moment and are adding more characters and storylines every week. All in all OLTL has once again become a very exciting show to watch. I look forward to tuning in every day. Congratulations to Gary Tomlin their Executive Producer, their writing staff and the actors for putting out a very good product every day.

 | Rylie (0) 07/09/2001 | This show deserves a 5 star rating if for no other reason than the absolutely incredible 4th of July episode! That was the single best episode of soap that I have ever watched (and I've been watching for 25 yrs). Gary Tomlin has done wonderful things for this show & I can't wait to see what he comes up with next. I love to watch Todd, Blair & Starr, the "Who Killed Colin" story has kept me guessing right from the start and I'm enjoying the Asa, Gabrielle, Max story too. This show has some great, quirky characters and it's fun to watch!

Todd/Blair/Starr are the best.Max/Gabby also have wonderful potential. OLTL is the best soap to watch. I do so love watching this soap. | DRipley48 (0) 07/05/2001 | OLTL is my favorite soap simply because of Todd, Blair and Starr. They rock as the most dysfuntional family on daytime. The "Manning's" should have their own show.

 | Hayleys3 (0) 02/24/2001 | As a fan of Soaps for over twenty years, I have to commend OLTL for creating storylines that keep characters interacting with each other. So often anymore on soaps, the relationships of characters seem forced, but not on OLTL they seem to mesh and that is a very wonderful thing for the viewer. I understand the longtime fans uproar over the hiring of new actors ( a lot of them from the now defunct soap ANOTHER WORLD) but I've learned that I enjoy talent over the hiring of newcomers that have NO acting ability at all. OLTL has a good track record of hiring top notch talent. If your thinking of giving up soaps all together because your tired of Voice overs, repeated lines, or any of the other dribble being shown on other soaps, I recommend that you try OLTL for a month and I'm pretty sure, you'll like what you see, I should know, I'm a full time viewer!

 | zahbahde (0) 01/31/2001 | I have watched OLTL for over 20 years and I have a question...Why are the writers obsessed with semi-incestual relationships?
We have Vicki - married to 2 Buchanan brothers
Roseanne - married to one brother, dating another
Joey - an affair with Dorian and then married to her niece.
Kevin - married one cousin and engaged to another
Kelly - married to one brother and engaged to another
Max - engaged to Kelly and then married her cousin
Blair - engaged (or married? I don't remember) to Asa then marries his would-be son
Bo - once engaged to his brother's ex-wife and now almost engaged to her sister
Colin - married to one sister and slept with the other
...and that's just the CURRENT headliners!
What's next? Skye having an affair with her mother's boyfriend?
It's getting boring - either change the tired storylines or bring some fresh blood on the scene. The last real interesting infusion of a new character aside from the character of Rae Cummings was Mel. Now HE was interesting and didn't sleep with anyones daughter, cousin, mother, wife or girlfriend to keep us interested.

I rate OLTL a 4, because it is just a very good soap! It could be a 5 if they would bring back some former fan-favorite charcter, if they would get ride of some characters that are boring and stupid, and if they make the storylines come to an end sooner. Otherwise it's great! The acting is perfect, the writing is getting better, the music is excellent, and the general ideas of the storylines are good!

 | ne1fan (0) 07/03/2000 | One life to live has a great cast of fun characters played by good actors. The familial relationships are explored, all age groups are present. The airtime is well balanced.
Some characters (Skye for example) seem forced into storylines they don't belong in, and sometimes storylines have trouble keeping their momentum. The show needs a new boost of energy in the story, but it is by far ABC's best soap at the present moment.
