I've only ever taken a read of the weekend edition, and it appears to contain just enough information to justify the selling of advertising and enough sections to hold all of the flyers and coupons. Barely. Of course that could be a reflection on life in Minneapolis too.

Utterly mundane paper, with a journalistic style that could best be described as comatose.

The new design is terrible. I used to be an avid reader, but have now swithched papers. The Star Tribune has gone out of their way to destroy a good paper.

Your news is very bias. Most people in this state do not support a new stadium for any of these sport teams, yet you still insist that they do. Let's put it on the ballot, let people vote on it and let the chips fall where they may. I see Anoka County doesn't want a vote now. Let these owners pay for their own stadiums and spend some of their billions.

Great coverage of the Minnesota Twins, which are my favorite baseball team. However, since I don't live remotely near MN I read the online version, which is a good alternative if you cannot get an actual hard copy of the paper.

Actually Star Tribune is more a liberal newspaper, if you read it's reviews based on this past election...it supported Kerry (along with me) and read some of the anti-bush cartoons! Great stuff! Contrary to what midwestern19 says, MINNESOTA IS NOT A CONSERVATIVE state. I wouldn't live here if it was. I don't know where you get off saying it is, hasn't been in over 40 years and is publically a blue based on election and historical results.

Great by Minnesota ways, although this would be a 2 star paper in another city. Minnesotans dont really care about news and are very apolitical. This paper is all ads, comics and feel-good stories which fits well in Minnesota, but would never cut it on a coast or even other midwestern cities. I dont think the Star Tribune does investigative pieces, god forbid any body in this state have to confront a relavent issue or problem. Even the newsweekly in Minneapolis, City Pages does not know how to do an investigative piece. Star Tribune is a moderate paper in a very, very conservative state.

The Star-Trib is a decent paper except for a tendency to confuse the front page with the editorial page. We locals can't be trusted to form our own opinions. For objective reporting, try the Wall Street Journal.

Mimics the NYT editorial page and refuses to use the word terrorists when describing acts of violence by the PLO, but will describe any acts of violence by Israeli's as acts of terror.

Pros: Covers metro news very well; has unique sections like Faith and Values and FreeTime. Cons: Doesn't have a very lively opinion page; does not cover international news well at all.

I currently live in the Minneapolis metro area and I have to say this is one of the better newspapers in the country.
