 | ILikePie (55) 03/08/2008 | My first PC game... and certainly one of the best I ever played. It still stands the test of time, has brilliant gameplay, graphics, and some amazing characters (Xzar...) that still stick in my memory after so many years...

 | dndman (0) 07/02/2003 | This Game Rocks. And the interface is great.
Maybe not the best, but definatly a good one.
The only reason that gaiusmarius doesn't like
it is because he's not True DnD'ER. I mean if
you like Ages of Empires over this.....

 | Lord Luzifer (0) 04/05/2002 | great game BUT you spend too much time travelling deserted areas killing wolves and bandits.
it's fun to find the special interaction there is in every one, but eventually it gets boring and you just wish you'll finish all of them soon (exp. points, that's why)and move along to the main mission.
but good game anyway, alot of movies, which is good, and a good story (too bad you don't focus on it most of the time because of the explorings).

 | Squirrell (0) 06/25/2001 | Baulder's Gate is a great RPG. Its one of the first to really get into the Race, Class, and Looks of your charactor. Its a long game and you dont have to follow a certian coarse, very few games are like that. You get that warm feeling when you play it, like when your eating your favriote food (thats not a very good comparison but o well). Its a fun and interesting game that all rpg fans should have played along time ago. I would'nt recommend it as a first time rpg or anything because it can get frustrating if you don't know what your doing. Overall, Black Isle did Well.

 | artbuf (0) 03/27/2001 | Having finally had the time to actually PLAY the game, I must say, I was not let down. This is the closest to a real AD&D game as I have ever played (and I am a D&Der from WAAAAAAY back). The interactions of the characters, and the possible twists along the way are outstanding. There are enough side tracks and missions in the game, you begin to forget that there is a singular, pre-defined mission you have to complete!

 | HexCaliber (0) 01/24/2001 | This is the game that truly defined RPGs on the computer, as no other game has come close to what this game achieved. The basics, such as graphics and sound add depth to the great gameplay. Because you create your character from scratch the game also has a great replay value because you can play someone with different attributes and abilites. Also because you can have different characters in your group this also adds replay value for interaction. It's also really cool to watch your character start out as a poor, weak person (or elf, halfing, etc.) and then gradually gain skills to become a fearsome warrior (or mage, thief, priest or whatever you have chosen). There are some minor faults such as missions that require you to do nothing more than play "fetch", and pathfinding in dungeons and narrow areas can be problematic. But these minor faults take nothing away from the overall enjoyment of playing this game. Once you have played through the game (several times in my case) you can pickup Baldur's Gate 2 which even outshines this game. Get this game and start your epic adventure today!

 | BalinChojin (0) 11/19/2000 | Baldur's Gate is my absolute favorite game... but quickly falling. I cannot beat this game! It is huge (five to six CDs, depending on whether you bot the expansion, which I did.) It sticks very close to Advanced Dungeons & Dragons 2nd Edition rules, though it does have adjustable difficulty. It is a great D&D experience, with such famous people in the Forgotten Realms as Elminster the Sage and Drizzt Do'Urden, who help you through your quest. Making a character is fun, though time consuming. Pathfinding sucks, as does the speed. The game is not fast paced (unless you get a pair of boots of speed and drunk on Oil of Speed), and the combat can become a tedious clickfest. It is very difficult. I reccommend it to those who love AD&D, Forgotten Realms, or REAL RPGs (as opposed to Nintendo and Sony powerplaying stuff).

 | Azteck (0) 09/28/2000 | Quite a good game, with great graphics and music, but this game is stuck up in the really stiff rules of AD&D, which spoil much of the gameplay. Also, is only worth playing once or twice entirely because it is not enough varied. But this is still a good game.

 | maiy1462om (0) 11/22/1999 | Baldur's Gate is one of the more interesting and fascinating games I've played. My friends and I liked it well enough to actually try and make a game based on it as a project.

 | SCOT216OM (0) 10/26/1999 | Baldur's Gate is the best PC title ever created based on the AD&D Forgotten Realms license and breaks new ground for the genre.
