 | Spike65 (11) 08/23/2007 | I hated this show when it aired. My Dad loved it. I didn't like what it did to the Batman persona. It's like Batman remade as a live-action cartoon. Pretty good production values and the cast was well suited to their task. Some fun villains.

 | ahmad12 (1) 08/21/2007 | too young to know what camp was all about and took it seriously. much preferred the villans to the paunchy geek heroes. catwoman and riddler where the best. caesar romero should have shaved his moustache - looked weird under the joker facepaint.

 | pastageek (0) 06/01/2007 | I give it 5 stars for ultimate hilarity to be laughed at not with. I almost suspect that they had ants in their pants the whole time. Batman really gave morality a bad name with that type of dialog and I have only seen one of them as a rerun. Being born in 1988 makes it a bit hard to be part of that generation. I really think they would be better off in a sumo wrestling show getting their scrawny selves sat on. All in all I found it quite disturbing that that kind of acting is possible. lol I am currently making fun of many super heroes on www.cleanfunnyjoke.com in the entertainment section. rofl for that. lol

 | Jeremy00081 (5) 09/18/2006 | I used to get a kick out of the reruns when I was a kid. I wasn't around when this show was still airing (not even close to being around)...maybe I would think it was a great show if I was from that generation. Whatever the case may be, I thought it was pretty cool when I was a youngen. 3 and a half stars.

 | VirileVagabond (31) 09/05/2006 | With its intentional campy humor, exaggerated acting, and 60's psychedelic colors, "Batman" was one of my favorites growing up back in the day. Adam West (Batman) and Burt Ward (Robin) always seemed to be the only characters (villains included) that didn't seem realize the absurdity of it all, and the fact that they were so relatively clueless was often what made the series work. I also loved the epic narration and the crooked scenes that gave the surreal world a more exotic appearance. The bottom line is that any series that gave the world such pop culture references as "riddle me this Batman" and "same bat time, same bat channel" has to get some bonus stars.

 | Drummond (54) 02/03/2006 | This was humor at its best. The pilot movie had the sexiest Catwoman, and the best lines. Adam West's ability to keep such a straight face while saying something totally off the wall was just priceless. And the choice for Robin, a complete unknown, was perfect - something that wouldn't happen these days. Burgess Meridith and Cesar Romero as great villains - also Roddy McDowell as the Bookworm (and as the henchmen prepare to fight Batman, Batman says, "Gentlemen, your glasses." Then turns to Robin and says "Never hit a man with glasses Robin).
Best line:
Batman and Robin are chasing the Joker. The Joker runs into the street. The heroes reach the curb and Batman says: "Hold on Robin!"
Robin: "But Batman! He's getting away!"
Batman: (Holding up his finger) "Always look both ways before crossing the street Robin."
And the lesson is solidified as we see the Joker almost getting run over.

 | edt4 (99) 02/03/2006 | I can still remember being a tot and waiting with breathless anticipation in front of the TV-set on the night of its premier. I know it was supposed to be self-conscious "camp" but to me it was deadly serious stuff. I was conflicted when they brought Yvonne Craig on board- "Batgirl"- in an effort to revive floundering ratings. On the one hand, I was a spiritual member of the "He-Man Woman Hater's Club"...on the other hand, she was probably the first object of my childish lust and veneration. I haven't seen it in a long time and wish they would re-run it. (There was controversy at the time that there was an "unhealthy for youthful viewers" homosexual element in the relationship between Bruce Wayne and his young ward Dick (!) Grayson...hence, the producers created the character of Aunt Harriet so the atmosphere at "stately Wayne Manor" wasn't completely all-male.)

 | epb2004 (0) 08/02/2005 | Ok to all you worship Ertha Kitt, please shut up! Give Julia Newman her rightful praise as catwoman and not some star that was a special guest, if you have seen the majority of episodes like I have, you would realize the Ertha was a not the original and was only a special guest just as John Astin was a special guest the played the riddler.

 | GenghisTheHun (167) 06/11/2005 | This was high-camp and a must watch among the hip crowd in the 1960's. It was fun and tongue in cheek serious. It wore out and faded fast, however.

 | mopapa (0) 07/12/2004 | An absolute 60's classic. Name any other series that aired 2 or 3 new episodes a week, that entire families enjoyed together, and that so much of Hollywood was dying to participate in. My favorite Robin line -- Holy oleo, Batman. Man that was a fun show. Altogether now -- Tune in tomorrow - same bat time, same bat channel.

 | handy (0) 03/28/2004 | Holy Hamlet! (an actual line from a show) This is a great show!. It's pretty campy and fun. The overracting is part of the fun. The best actors were Cesar Romero, Burgess Meredith, Julie Newmar, and Frank Gorschin. It seems that they all had fun making the show. Almost no guns, just giant contraptions like putting Batman and Robin to die in giant ice cream cones--until they escape. Why are these villains so busy that they never have time to watch Batman and Robin's demise? It's fun stuff, and I miss it. I wish that TV Land or some other channel would show this.

 | brianjoseph (0) 11/20/2003 | A great show..colorful sets and lots of crazy camera angles..something we don't see today. Liked the Bat Cave, just like the comic book with all those computers and electronic stuff that could help Batman solve a crime.(but then I also liked all that neat electronic stuff on the Time Tunnel too). And Cat Woman (Julie Newmar) was great! Those other 2 actresses however that played cat woman stink!

 | lukskywlkr. (3) 11/21/2002 | Batman was never meant to be like this show. It almost made fun of him, when in the comic books he was a real dark no-nonsense character who would pound the bad guys into submission.

 | HolyBatFan (0) 09/10/2002 | As a child of the 80's, my only exposure to this classic was in reruns, but the classic never died. I took the show as a serious action series then, but now I still love it as a hilariously corny piece of 1960's art. If a show can stay the same but it's appeal evolve with the viewer's age, something must have been done right.

 | eddtoro (0) 05/12/2002 | sick of tv and movies that replace character and quality stories with explosions and sex. i want to see a return of adam west as batman, even if only for one special episode. he still looks good. there must be a way. perhaps the fans cain help raise money. all in all, the fun of the original is golden.

 | Dolliac (0) 03/07/2002 | Great camp fun, but the reason that it is such a camp clasic today would have to be the main performances by Adam West and Burt Ward. They had such wonderful chemistry, and of course, the wonderful(and greatly missed) Cesar Romero was a wonderful Joker, but saving the best for last, Julie Newmar's Catwoman was a delightfully campy villainess who I think everyone loved. Am I wrong?

 | ClassicTVFan47 (36) 11/12/2001 | Whether or not the show was intended to funny, one may not know, but it certainly was. The comedy was good and the overacting helped the experience. Didn't last nearly long enough. It's also a refershing change from the darker and more pessimistic Batman of the present.

 | Molfan (56) 10/31/2001 | I would really give this about a 3.5. AS a child I would have probably given this a higher rating. As an adult I watch it from a different point of view. First of all it is kind of cheesy and camp. what i notice now is the fun the actors seem to be having playing the bad guys.I just get the feeling these actors playing the Joker, Penguin,Catwoman are enjoying themselves. Obviously this is not a serious show. For me it is camp.

 | meathead dingbat lib (0) 07/10/2001 | Batman was great 60's fun, campy and cartoonish but well acted, and great set design and costumes. I was born after its three year run on ABC but have seen reruns many times on WPIX 11. However I believe that batman was made too clownish and wooden at times, and his strength as a "superhero" didn't come close to superman, spiderman, wonder woman, and the incredible hulk, or even Indiana Jones for that matter. Robin was certainly not a coward, but a weakling he was. Now I pose a question? If you were entering a dangerous situation, who do you want on your side Robin the boy wonder or Nia Peeple's female character on "Walker Texas Ranger". Keep in mind she is mortal just like the rest of us.
The performances of the four major villains played by the late Cesar Romero, the late Burgess Meredith and Julie Newmar and Frank Gorshin were exceptional. However Chris O'Donnell and Val Kilmer would make a more virile and courageous dynamic duo if they were around at the time

 | MedgarEvers (13) 06/28/2001 | I'm not making this up- I once heard Robin say "holy power generators, Batman!" on an episode. Batman rocks! It's funny to see from this show on (to "Batman the Animated Series & the "Batman Returns" and all of those movies) how his "bat ears" evolved and grew larger over time. Gotta love it.

 | knowhere man (0) 06/26/2001 | HI,HI CAMP! This show made you bitch at your parents to buy a color T.V. Back then it was one of the first shows in color. A comic book come to life. It was big! We had BATMAN RINGS, RECORDS and TRADING CARDS with GUM! To this day it still gives me a strange stirring in my utility belt. It must have been those tights!

 | callmetootie (4) 04/09/2001 | It may be one cheesy and silly show, but Batman recieves lots of credit for being what it was, and what an impact it had on people's lives. I mean people would fight like Batman, and dress like him, and try to be like him.
