The great thing about this show was the show was almost as good, when it ended eleven years later as it was at the beginning.

I would give it five stars except it was so predictable. The show also had some ups and downs. Consistently funny though. Good writers and the cast was well chosen even with the many changes.

I loved coach, Sam, the Kirsti Alley character, the mopes drinking at the bar and some others.

I didn't like the Rhea Perlman character, the dopey Woody Harrelson Character and Sam's first waitress--I forget her name, although she had her moments.

All in all, I gotta give it a fiver for the good greatly over weighed the bad.

It was awesome when Nick-At-Nite started showing Cheers reruns a few years ago. I was too young to really get this show when it originally aired, but I've come to appreciate it as one of the best sitcoms of all time. Too bad they stopped showing the old reruns though. In my opinion they should stop showing Full House and Roseanne and put Cheers back on.

The most clever writing ever with top notch character potrayals. Rebecca Howe was a welcome improvement over Diane (Shelley Long). The show stayed consistently great until the end. Not many can claim that. Dr. Lillith's pent- up sexuality never failed to exite me. I thought that she and Dr. Crane's stuck-up, blow-hard personas represented stereotypical Bostonites very well.

When Cheers came out it broke new ground and was great for it. Even with cast changes it kept its charm. Anyone who has ever been a regular in a bar can relate to the relationships between the characters. But now in reruns I don't enjoy it as much as I used to. It got a little stale for me.

The high standard set by the first 3 series was pretty much maintained throughout all 9 unlike Friends and Frasier which lost it when key characters got it together and stayed loved up (Niles and Daphne, Chandler and Monica) unlike Sam and Diane. Methinks there's a lesson to be learnt. IMO, reasons why Cheers beats all the other US imports hands down. It never got sentimental. There were were more main characters than in most sitcoms so you never got bored of the same old relationships etc. The storylines were quirky and non-cliched. Put simply, it was the antithesis of Saved by the Bell

Cheers was a great show and one of my favorites when it was on. But when 'Seinfeld' came along, I realized that 'Cheers' actually followed a very rigid formula and a lot of the episodes all seemed the same while you never knew where 'Seinfeld' was going to take you.

For the uninitiated, the concept for "Cheers" was an alcoholic, ex-baseball player (Sam Malone played by Ted Danson) who owns and operates a pub in Boston. This show started out strong, stayed strong, and went out on top avoiding the dreaded fade from which almost all series suffer by lingering longer than they should. The characters were developed over time within their original conceptions (eg Carla Tortelli played by Rhea Perlman, Cliff Clavin played by John Ratzenberger, and Norm Peterson played by George Wendt), and the new faces that were added (eg Woody Boyd played by Woody Harrelson and Rebecca Howe played by Kirstie Alley) meshed with the pre-existing cast perfectly. Clearly, one of the best and most successful television series of the 1980's. "Cheers" was originally broadcast from 1982 to 1993.

Norm!!! I remember watching this program growing up and all the time since. Classic programming - excellent characters and timeless entertainment. My favorite 80s sitcom - and possibly my favorite show period. This was the first show I really got "hooked" on when I was a kid.

the show was funny and it had a great cast of characters except for diane. she could really get on your nerves and i was happy to see her go. kirstie ally was a much better replacement at least she was more pleasant. i loved coach and it was sad when the actor died but the show handled it well and woody was perfect not as a replacement but just a whole new character introduced. fraser seemed to fit in quite well after a while better than diane and i think the story line between him and rebecca would have been great if the show had pursued it. the two of them could have made a good spinoff if they had married instead of fraser with lilith who had no personality whatsover

Better than average, particularly in its middle seasons. The supporting cast was often more interesting than the stars. Generally well written, and the occasional drop ins by real celebrities were always amusing.

What can you say about cheers except funny. It lost a bit after the actor who play coach passed. I wish I could remember his name, he really made the show. As the show progressed it seemed to stay fresh even with the cast changes. Was very sad to see this end, not much holds up to it today.

I really hate this show. It is so boring and stupid. The only charactor who is interesting and has any real personality is Rhea Perlman. If it wasn't for her I would give this show only one star. When this comes on change the channel or risk dying from boredom.

Way ahead of similar types of productions like 'Friends', 'Will & Grace' and the spin-off that is 'Frasier'. Didn't always hit the mark but usually the lines were sharp and the characters well rounded and likeable even the nerdy Cliff and the irritating Diane. This was one comedy which I was disappointed to see end.

I rarely watched this show when it was on during prime time, but I greatly enjoyed it in syndication. The funny characters made the show a success. The creators knew what they were doing when they put together the winning ensemble cast. Each performer made their role unforgettable and unique.

Hard for me to appreciate this show, reflecting to childhood I didn't find anything funny at age 8-12 about a bunch of people living in a bar. Watch some reruns whenever they are on just because it's Cheers, otherwise, no interest.

A great classic, although easily crushed by the utterly-awesome Frasier. The later seasons of Cheers are especially good, with some nicely unrealistic plots and over-the-top gags. The cast was good, except for Coach (who was kind of a dry character) who was replaced by the much more amusing Woody. Sam was almost Fonzie-esque in his dealings with women and Diane was a great foil for him. Rebecca worked also. Cliff was hilarious, and of course, Frasier was a brilliant character. Could have easily gone on without Ted Danson (who said he wouldn't do it anymore after '93) and Kelsey Grammer (Frasier).
