 | Spike65 (11) 06/08/2008 | A very fine show. Only reason I didn't give it five was the rich people who owned the store were too over the top. Good writing, wholesome family entertainment.

 | TeresaG (29) 04/11/2008 | I loved this show! I find it great that my daughters' 2nd grade class are watching this show! It showed, as MissPackRat said, a wholesome family in a time of innocence, still dealing with hard times (and look, they never applied for welfare or killed people for money). Great, great values and morals show!

 | MissPackRat4Jesus (38) 12/20/2007 | Although a lot of elements in this show were greatly different from the books by Laura Ingalls Wilder, this heart-warming series, if anything, paints an excellent picture of a typical family pulling together through hard times in the late 19th century, complete with a lot of conflict and character development. Laura Ingalls Wilder, the heroine, grew from a small girl in pigtails to a wife and mother raising a daughter of her own during the run of this series. In the '70s and '80s, there were still plenty of shows that were wholesome enough for families to watch together. You just don't see very much of that anymore, I'm sorry to say.

 | tnt (0) 02/20/2006 | I loved Little House on the Prarie when I was a little girl, and I love it even more through reruns. When I watched an episode, I would get this good, warm feeling inside. I loved the Laura/Nellie rivalry the best in the whole show. But the one character I loved the most was Mary. She is beautiful, intelligent, elegant, mature-no wonder the boys was crazy about her! To me, she will be "the golden girl of Walnut Grove." I just wished that the writers were a little more truer to the books, though. There were some characters in the books that could have been included in the show-like Cap Garland, Mary Power, etc. All in all, a wonderful, heartwarming show. They sure don't make shows like that anymore.

 | Chyna_Rush2004 (0) 12/30/2005 | I LOVED this show!I remember when i was a kid, no matter what i was doing in the house, i would always come running when i heard the opening theme-lol. The only thing i never got....what the heck was soo funny? Ever notice that sometimes everyone would just burst out laughing, for no apparent reason? maybe i am the dense one, i dunno. =) have a good day!

 | RevMead (0) 07/16/2005 | There is nothing better than a show that allows the entire family to sit down and watch. Parents don't have to worry about their kids getting sucker punched with some sexual inuendo; kids get to see other kids getting into kiddish trouble. Sure, the acting was not the greatest at times, but, with those stories, who cares!

 | #1sailormoonfan (3) 01/20/2005 | Great classic that shows courage and hope. Great for the entire family. But sometimes it focused a little too much on little Half Pint. And come on...Mary's baby and Alice Garvey dying in a fire in the Blind House? That's ridiculous; Mary was troubled enough in her life as it is. But all in all, the show was great anyhow.

 | guru (0) 10/08/2004 | Some reviewers mention that this show was not realistic in portraying its characters and themes. This is one of the qualities that made the show so poignant. It represents an idealism of what the world should be like and how people should treat others with dignity and have forgiveness and compassion in their heart. Anyone who claims this type of programming would taint our children is speaking absurdly. I would much rather taint my children with good values and a compassionate view of life than the absolute garbage we expose them to today. Little House on the Prairie exemplifies to our children a wholesome way of living they can strive for in a modern day world filled with greed and immorality. There may never be a show again to duplicate its grandeur.

 | Rick18 (0) 07/07/2004 | Great at the beginning...got really bad about season six. How many kids did the Ingalls have to adopt? Albert was the worst...missed Mary and Nellie when they left the show. | Solenoid DH (19) 06/21/2004 | The idea of the show was a great one. I'd love to see a good program with this setting, some day. But there is so much not to like about this: Michael Landon was too preachy, always making his character the big hero, exposing the greed or hypocrisy of others. Melissa Gilbert's ego showed through too strongly. And it was strange that she had a little tiny kid's voice when she WAS a kid, but when she grew up and became a school teacher, she still had the same tiny kid voice. Big Sister was much more likeable, (more attractive too) and put in a masterful performance in the episode where she went blind. But in a miraculously short period of time, she became an overbearingly happy blind person, staring blankly from side to side and grinning every time she talked. Also, the characters talked like people of the late 20th century. And considering the rugged terrain and lifestyle of the times, it seems strange that they looked so freshly laundered and starched all the time.

 | luvthetube (0) 06/12/2004 | Little House is without a doubt one of the best shows in television history. The loveable Michael Landon is a genius in his role as Pa Ingalls. This is a wonderful family show with many great lessons learned in each episode. Excellent cast, writing, directing, and producing. Ma, Laura, Mary, Nellie, etc. all are characters written beautifully into the storyline and brilliantly portrayed by a talented group of cast members! This show will be cherished for many years to come as new generations of viewers emerge. A++++++

 | Elvis#1Fan (0) 10/02/2003 | I think that this show offered the best of America, when people could be trusted and a mans word meant something. A lot of folks dismiss it a drivel, but this was life back then! The world we live in now is a mess. This show transports me back to what I believe was a better time of life. Some of the ideas were a bit overdone, but the overall message is one of love and friendship, something lost through the generations. The times may have been glorified, but the thought of love and family and honest labor is what built this country, unfortunately greed has taken over and our children are taught through todays shows and movies that it's ok to be disrespectful and hateful, that if you aren't, you'll wind up with nothing. Morals mean nothing to todays society. AS I read through some of these ratings, I am incensed at what I'm seeing. Everyone is entitled to an opinion, butit is this kind of person that has brought this natiion to what it is. I agree that you must be strong to survive, but come on people, This was one of the last great shows, Landon was brilliant, the cast was nothing short of phenomenal and the overall story and setting makes you want to be a better person. To be proud of a hard days work, and not let the almighty dollar rule your world!!!

If you have any kind of bitterness or cynicism in your heart, you probably won't like it. | Moosekarloff (17) 04/28/2003 | Insipid, pukey nonsense. Why is it that programs that attempt to be family-oriented entertainment invariably end up being preachy, saccharine crap that will result in filling up your children's heads with a load of delusional nonsense, fairy tales, misconceptions, dogma, propaganda and programic cliches? If your children watch this sort of crap they're likely to grow up with a warped concept of existence and be gravely disappointed and disillusioned when reality bears its ugly head. Why not be honest and forthright with our children rather than coddling and sheltering them needlessly? Being overprotective is actually rendering a disservice to one's children, but present-day Americans don't seem to get it. LHOTP is a classic case of sugarcoating that taints children's minds rather than giving them the perceptual tools they're going to sorely need as adults. What's more, this show wasn't even entertaining. So, what's the point? To provide that no-talent Michael Landon with yet another cash cow at which to suckle?

 | Pyret (0) 03/07/2003 | Hello!.
I love the series "The little house on the prairie".
Every time I am sad or just little down, I watch a episode of the series and after one second, I feel better.
"The little house on the prairie" is my lucky pills.
Laura is my favourite character. She is a strong and independent woman.
I have all episodes of the series on tape and am watching an episode every day.
My friends and family thinks that I am geek because I am a big fan of the series. I hate them.
They don’t understand me, the eggheads!.
Because I’m a big fan, I give the series five stars.

 | EvilTuxedoMaskX9 (0) 12/20/2002 | In my opinion Little House On The Prairie is one of the greatest shows that has ever been on t.v. I remember watching it when I was little, and I used to play as the characters with my sisters.(Yes I am a guy and I like the show, and no I am not gay, not that there is anything wrong with that.I had to say that cause I have gotten that kind of remark before when I say I like the show)Well I am 21 years old now I and still watch the show in reruns and I still get involved in it even though I know what's going to happen. And I admit, there are things that are wrong with the show, as it can be too preachy and also a little sappy, but all in all its a good show. My favorite character has always been Laura. It is great to see how much she changes throughout the series but also keeps some of the key parts about her attitude and everything. I have read the books too and I think the show hit pretty well with how the stories went. Oh, and how could someone say in their comment that Mary was more likable and attractive than Laura? No way! Laura is hot, and still is!(Melissa Gilbert that is)Ok, sorry I am kind of off subject here. Ok well yeah I think Little House On The Prairie is a great show and I look forward to still watching it for years to come, and I hope they bring out all the episodes on DVD, in season boxsets, like they have been doing lately with alot of shows. Long live Little House!

 | kelly7655 (0) 11/21/2002 | What a classic! Little House on the Prairie is one of my favorites! How many television shows now days are based on actual events and have a moral in each episode? Few to none. Each character is so unique. Not to mention the range of characters (Reverend Alden to Nellie Oleson). This show has it all, for instance, great actors/actresses. I've been a fan since I was a kid, and during any episode involving Nellie Oleson, I would say to my Dad, "I hate Nellie! I wish they'd take her off the show! She's so mean!". My Dad would always reply, "If you hate her that much, that means she's a great actress". That quote always stuck in my head. Another instance of great acting: Michael Landon. He was a brilliant, sincere, warm hearted actor. I truly feel he wasn't acting. I feel what he did in front of that camera was how he felt. He put it all out there, and honestly, he can bring me to tears. The stories are wonderful, and the morals are even better. It's been almost twenty years since I watched that last episode air March 21, 1983.I still look forward to watching Little House on the Prairie today (in sindication). Any show that can make me feel that way, is an A+.

 | nikkiautry (0) 10/25/2002 | I have to give this show a high rating because it was a great show. My family and I watched this show every time it came on...so I probably love it for sentimental reasons. I do watch the reruns when they come on still. Once Laura and Mary got older and married... the show went down hill from there. It was really good when they were younger. I still love Michael Landon and Melissa Gilbert to this day.

 | cattleannie (0) 08/25/2002 | As a family we loved the show, my oldest daughter read the books and them. It is another tv classic, and I am glad it was on and I watch it on cable now. Maybe the trouble with people thinking a show [older one] is corney now is because we have let the tv networks push in to our homes so much trash, that whem we watch a show that doesn't have swearing, or a lot of violance we think its corney.

I still ball my eyes out in the really sad episodes and laugh my heart out in the funny ones. I would have to say that the sadest episode is the last one where they blow up the town and everyone leaves. I still cry a whole lot through that one every time i see it. I think the actors are great expecailly Melissa Gilbert and Micheal Landon i am possitivly addicted to that tv show and their will never be a better tv show no matter what anybody says.

 | Joey1963 (0) 06/01/2002 | The books are much better...and they really began to depend less on historical accuracy as the series moved on...but it was a show for its time. The Ingalls family home became the place to go for any lost or abandoned child. The best character by far on the show was Nellie Olson played by Allison Arngrim...when Melissa Sue Anderson left, the show began a downward spiral. It was downright scary when they blew up Walnut Grove. But overall, there were many good episodes...my own kids watch the show today and enjoy it.

 | Dianna (0) 05/17/2002 | I think this was the greatest show ever. I grew up with Little House on the Prairie and still watch it every morning and then again at night. I have every single episode on tape. Some episodes I have several copies of just in case something happens to one or the show should not air anymore. This is an excellent show for those who want quality viewing for their families. The episodes are rich in the lessons of family, friendship, love, values and morals. I believe that the cast did a wonderful job and wish this show and more like them were on the air today, and not just as reruns. There are way too many programs out there that show the negativity and hate that is so prevalent today. I'd really like to see a reunion of the cast and crew. I CAN'T GET ENOUGH OF THIS GREAT FAMILY SHOW>

 | kmaddux (0) 04/03/2002 | I have to agreee that Little House on the Prairie is not without its faults. Yes, it is a bit corny that Adam got his eyesight back, and that Mary was the worst crier ever. But I have to admit unashamedly..I LOVE the show. With all its faults, and I have seen every episode enough to know them all (How many times was the set for the blind school used as another chracter's house?). But I must praise Micheal Landon for giving us a show that is permiated with values, Christian love, and placing family first. I'll watch it every time it is on, and feel beter about the world after I do.
