I still remember the episode with Hawkeye on the bus with the woman who smothered her child to keep it quiet. The show was alternately hilarious and harrowing.

One of the classics of TV. Another cast that worked well together along with great writing. Each actor did a great job in their roles. I have some of my personal favorites of this show. lasted eleven years and even went through cast changes and survived which can sometimes kill a show. talented cast enjoyed this great show.
FranksWildYear s 03/19/2008
Extremely well written and acted and although it probably wasn't particularly realistic in its depiction of life near the front lines of a war it was fairly ground breaking for television grit in its day. The fact that cast members came and went added to the realism of the situation. Only two major characters were tere from beginning to end. Toward the end of the program it got long in the tooth and a little hacknied.
MrJackHammer 03/19/2008
Best Tv show of all time. Only show to ever have 77% share and over 100 Million Viewers !
Spike65 08/22/2007
The best years were before Alan Alda become the entire show. All the supporting actors did very well and the writing stayed pretty good until the last few years.
Conservatism 03/10/2007
One of my favorite shows, especially the first three seasons, but I loved all eleven.
BlueOrchid 11/01/2006
Hatter and I love to watch this show.
rockerrreds 10/26/2006
Lovely cinematic visuals but too preachy at times.
VirileVagabond 09/19/2006
Though fully admitting that "M*A*S*H" is considered a classic, I could never get into this show. Alan Alda was wimpy and just couldn't pull off being a leading man, Klinger (Jamie Farr) wasn't funny to me in the least, and Harry Morgan's portrayal of Col. Potter was too stiff. I did enjoy some of the earlier episodes with McLean Stevenson as the commanding officer (i.e. Henry Blake) and those when both Radar and Frank Burns were on their game with good comedic timing, but this doesn't really save the series from my perspective. The bottom line is I'll give three stars to "M*A*S*H" for longevity, critical praise, and being a signature show of the 1970's, but that's all.
Jeremy00081 09/18/2006
The few episodes I've seen were pretty good, but not good enough to make me want to see more.
MommyL 07/08/2006
Didn't like this show at first, but it grew on me.
ML 07/06/2006
This is the one show that I can watch over and over and never get tired of seeing any of the episodes
willow569 06/13/2006
One of my all time favorite shows.

If you never watched this, you were missing one of the most important television shows of our time. Acting, writing, directing and overall production were consistently excellent; don't think I was ever disappointed in an episode. Great from the first show and only got better during its run...

A quality TV-show which generally espoused a worthwhile and progressive point of view. Alan Alda was good, although his Hawkeye had an unfortunate tendency toward pompous piety and simplistic preaching, especially as the years advanced and the writers began running out of fresh plotlines and ideas. As it advanced in years, the show became a thinly-veiled parable on the Vietnam War, which was ok with me, but it often didn't feel as if I were watching a story set in the early 1950's, which sometimes was disorienting. Like too many good TV-shows, it was on the air far longer than it should have been.
ken2 03/24/2006
Do we have to remember that crappy show.Terrible, turn it off!
sfalconer 03/13/2006
MASH did not get better with age and as original cast members left it seemed to take a more serious tone. B.J. could never replace Trapper and Potter was no Henry Blake. The early years were classic and showed what a sit-com should be.
Mr Nuetron 12/09/2005
There were two mashes as I see it.There were the divided by one character Frank Burns. The Frank Burns era were what MASH was all about, a screwball comedy poking fun at the Korean War with various gags.Which of course grew stale. The post Frank Burns era episodes with it becoming the Alan ALda the Adam of the new sensitive man Genre. Alan Alda ponitificating and the ridiculous dialog they would have while operating. The show took itself to seriously and should have died not long after Burns and trapper john departure. The first i would give 5 Stars and the touchy feely mash(post Frank) one star.Based unfortunately on the overwhelming pompousness of the later I give it a one.It got to its sillest on the last episode when people without lives or with party addictions having mash parties.I think the Mash parties is when the Phrase "get a life was invented.
grvideos 10/15/2005
good show just as good today as yesterday.
trebon1038 10/06/2005
Best sit com type show ever....even when characters or writers changed, the show stayed on course. The seriousness of war was there and the sense of humor necessary to survive it. You watched the characters grow and change. You felt their pain. So few sit coms can even come close.
kattwoman 10/02/2005
i didn't get into watching mash until the later seasons and watching it in syndication. it was funny and it had memorable characters. it will always be one of the top comedies of all time.
PlayMisty 09/23/2005
I am giving MASH 5 stars because of it's first 3 seasons. Even though the show lost it's comedic edge around 1977 or 1978, it's still worthy of a high mark.
Samandlorriefa n 08/01/2005
I didn't watch M*A*S*H until last year. I immediately loved it from the start. I'm still wondering why I didn't tune in till now.
JOHN HAYEN 06/27/2005
This show was cutting edge for it's time. Even if it isn't your taste, to give it one or two stars is non sense. The writing was creative, the message about war and the korean war was clear and forth coming. One of the best shows of all time not just the 70's.
MTiger_87 06/27/2005
Good show, but it was jammed down my throat when I was a kid first watching tv. When it ended, it got worse. However, still one of the best of all time.
Hopper 05/28/2005
Horrible, hate it, hate the self-righteous character Alda played, hate the humor, hate the preachy message, hate the irritating music, why can't it be rated 0? Yuck. Can't even be in the room when it's on.
marpike 04/23/2005
Ok show. Lasted longer than the Korean war. Thought Alda's character was to high and mighty.
texasyankee 03/28/2005
Never liked this show back when I was a kid but now I love watching the repeats. It's so sad at times I am crying and my husband thinks I am crazy because he thinks it's funny.
irishgit 03/25/2005
This got very preachy very quickly. I never cared much for it.
Juliet73 01/06/2005
I've never given this show much of a chance, so I cant give it a fair rating. HOWEVER, GOTTA LOVE THE MASH THEME!!!! Mash has one of the best themes of any TV show i've ever heard.
Djahuti 12/03/2004
MASH was a brilliant show.It was able to portray the horror of war,the hope of humanity and kindness as well as making you laugh till you cried. They don't make 'em like this anymore!
bibliophile 09/23/2004
There was a lot to like about this show. It could have you laughing one minute and practically crying the next. It showed how people are able to entertain themselves even in dire circumstances and how they mentally adjust to dealing with a mix of boredom punctuated with horror.
Jesus_Freak 08/19/2004
The last seasons were better. You needed cornal Potter, Radar and Winchester and Hawkeye to make a really good show. They were the best group.
grouper 07/29/2004
This show needed a visit from a Patton like general- that would be worth watching
jgls 07/12/2004
one of my least favorite shows of all time. i didn't care for the acting, the writing, and alan alda's voice is one of the most grating sounds on earth.
Jamie McBain 06/22/2004
Good show, got a little even handed and preachy at times though.
Throwback72 06/21/2004
Love the theme music could never depict was this a boring comedy or a dreadful drama. Some episode are watchable so I will not bash. Show did get really boring at times
drwoowoocl 05/21/2004
It was a great show at its peak, but then alan alda turned it into his personal soapbox on war, which hurt it.Still it remained good until Radar left.
DaRick 04/13/2004
M*A*S*H was funny at first, but got less funny as the years went by after key actors left. Watching it just reminds you about the Korean War, even if the acting was generally superb. By 1983, when the series ended, it was waaaaay past it.
beegeesfanfore ver 02/05/2004
M*A*S*H Is The Best Tv Show Ever It Was So Funny But It Got Preachy In The Later Years I Didn't Like The Character B.J./ & Mike Farrell He Is So Libral! From Kirsten
T Felicity 11/20/2003
There never was, never will be a show like this. It had more spirit than we will ever find with anything else.
kolby1973 10/15/2003
Even though the acting in this show was over the top and superb, the show itself always depressed me and made me feel bad to watch it. As an adult, I would never watch it again. Their is nothing comical or funny about war.
brianjoseph 10/14/2003
I'd say it's ok...just have a problem in that sometimes they seem to be enjoying themselves too much...I served time on a cruiser in the Navy and it was hard work on the Gunline..18-19 hrs a day. Either I was on watch or on working parties bringing on ammunition. Standing watch ( I worked in Combat Information Center) was extremely busy..no time for joking around..serious business. So I watch this show and hope young people don't run out to join the Army etc. thinking it's all fun.
Gabbygav 10/11/2003
This is a pretty good show, very good comedy in it, and my favorite is Klinger. Always dressing up like a lady to try to get out of the army, what a laugh. Hawkeye is pretty cool too.
centre77 10/08/2003
Timeless! Uncut re-reuns on the Hallmark Channel are like watching them for the first time.
astroboy 08/14/2003
This show was great for two and a half or three years. As the show went on it deteriorated rapidly. In my opinion it never recovered from the loss of Henry and Trapper.Alda's ego took over and trying to elevate secondary characters such as Klinger did not work.I will not watch any of the C.W.III episodes. This show lasted about 5 times longer than the war.
Moosekarloff 07/23/2003
Another cheap TV knock-off of a perfectly good film. Some of the episodes were good, but this is another one that stayed on the air five years too long. The cast was a decided step-down from the film: that pukey Alan Alda was no match for Elliot Gould, Wayne Rogers/Mike Farrell are hardly Donald Sutherland, Loretta Swit has a long way to go to equal Sally Kellerman, and Larry Linville vs. Robert Duvall? Are you kidding?
kahfess 07/11/2003
This will always be one of my favorite shows. I enjoyed watching the troubles and trials that these people faced in their day to day life. It always seem to make me have a positive feeling about whatever trial I was going through. LOVED this show.
getback 05/22/2003
Had three good years and lost it way into telling the audience what was right and wrong ,it stopped entertaining the audience and simply preached.
cuttiemel 05/07/2003
