What a great show! Mary Tyler Moore was such a beauty, and she is still a lovely lady. The show was great comedy.

I coudn't stand Mary Tyler Moore and couldn't take all her whining in the shows she was on, especially this one. My mother HAD to watch it every week and in those days most people only had one TV. Thank God I haven't seen any repeats of this show in years!

It was a good old show. Mary was awesome and her friend Rhoda made a great pair for this show. Always doing some sort of scheming and never actually getting any where for all their efforts.

Best character driven comedy ever! Slightly ahead of its time at times, timeless though dated.

Though I haven't seen this show in some time, "Mary Tyler Moore" (aka "The Mary Tyler Moore Show") was indeed one of the best series ever produced. As a 30ish single career woman, Moore's character was more independent than other female characters of the day, and the ensemble cast was truly talented (e.g., Ed Asner, Ted Knight, and Betty White). To this day, I have to say that "I hate spunk".

Watched it every week and loved it. They rerun so many old shows, yet this one never seems to make a comeback. Mary, Ed, Betty, Valerie and all the stars were great, as were the stories and jokes.

This show was legendary. I wish Lifetime would air it. Loved all the stars and guests who appeared. Valerie Harper, Ed Asner, Betty White, Cloris Leachman...and on and on. Good old days.

Exceptional cast, with my favorite being Betty White. Ed Asner played a great boss and Valerie Harper was funny as Mary's friend. I loved the funeral scene for Chuckles the Clown!!

I wish they would put it back on tv. The shows from the 60's- 70's are what I would call the classic tv shows. Mary Tyler Moore is on dvd, but I wish they were on video instead of dvd. I didn't care to watch the first two because you couldn't play it all the way through. I would rather watch shows on video than dvd anyways, because they seem to last longer.

One of my all time favorite shows. Initally I started watching just to see MTM. She was a real babe back then. Before the end of the first season I fell in love with the entire cast. The writing was witty and sophisticated for the time. The support cast was top notch. This was one of the few shows that made me laugh out loud. I really enjoyed the scenes when the girls (Phyllis, Rhoda and Mary) got together. While I loved all the characters, my favorite was Betty White as manhungry Sue Ann. I actually cried at the end of the series finale. That only happened once before when The Carol Burnett Show ended. The MTM shows are now in dvd. I've already purchased seasons one thru three. I still laugh out loud!

I never saw the appeal of this show and i never will.I don't care if Mary makes it all.I wouldn't care if she had a will work for food sign on the street or if she hit the power ball. After she left Dick Van Dyke show she was a boring celebrity in her so called craft.Ted Knight would be the only reason to watch this show if you don't go into a coma first.

Mary Tyler Moore is obviously one of the best actresses of all time. She did an amazing job with the dick van dyke show and her talents only improved as the years went on. The Mary Tyler Moore show was probably one of the greats of the 1970's.

Never cared much for this, particularly because it depicted a newsroom almost entirely uninterested in the news. Too much trivial angst, although it was well written, and with a few exceptions, well acted.

I think TMTMS is the best series ever on television. The class and sophistication puts it in a class all by itself and makes most television series look like 5th grade productions.

quite possibly the most obnoxious supporting cast of all-time. if i had to spend time at work with ted knight, gavin macleod, and ed asner, and come home to valerie harper and cloris leachman i would stick a gun in my mouth and blow the back of my head off.

Tired and unfunny formulaic sitcom. Nothing different or groundbreaking here. The cast was appealling, but the scripts were very commonplace. And MTM has shown that she lacked the talent to be a bankable star for an enduring period, which explains why this show went off the air her career went into the terlet.

This is one of the better sitcoms out of the 70's. I can actually sit thru it without falling asleep or getting angry. Mary Tyler Moore was so beautiful, and such an excellent actress in the 70's and 80's. Now she seems so bitter. But I do recommend this show to everyone !

What a great show. It was always funny and the writers were excellent. Stellar cast with of course MTM taking the cake, but Sue Ann (Betty White) was a real winner too. This should be rated closer to the very top of the list.

A little overrated. I thought Mary Tyler Moore was much funnier on The Dick Van Dyke Show. That is where her truly classic routines were. The MTM Show could be funny sometimes but not enough to motivate me to watch the reruns. Something about the weird attitudes of the 70s tainted a lot of shows from then. But I will say they didn't taint MTM as much as they did its vaious spinoffs. They were bad.

Another great classic sitcom of the 50s to 70s era. Mary proved herself as a talented comedy actress on the also-excellent Dick Van Dyke Show and got her own sitcom. Slapstick is mostly put aside for humorous dialogue, especially from Ted Baxter, the dunce-worthy Newsman and, of course, Chuckles the Clown.

The best cast of any sitcom ever. MTM had it all: the writing, the performances, the big laughs, the heart touching moments, and never pandered to the audience to achieve them. The clown's funeral is one of the best loved tv clips of all time only to be matched with the final group hug. Mary and Valerie Harper had that rare kind of chemistry that captivates your interest in their relationship.

The McBEAL of its day. My favorite is when CHUCKLES THE CLOWN died and MARY goes from crying to laughing uncontrollably. It was a sign of its time. Everyone wanted to date Mary. Maybe I should have given it an O.K.

i always liked watching the Mary Tyler Moore show when it was on in the 70s. I liked all of the characters.Mary a single woman out on her own in the big city. Her best pal Rhoda,I like Rhoda's wit and the way she can come back with a remark. the newsroom gang was good. the gruff Lou Grant, Ted the with his big ego and not too many brains and the rest of the cast. I think this show had good writing, and great actors. I think they acted well together, and help to make this show a fun one to watch.

I am very suprised to see The Mary Tyler Moore show, along with The Dick Van Dyke Show and All in the Family so low on the ratings here, while #1 is The Dukes of Hazard!!! The Mary Tyler Moore show is warm, appealing and entertaining. I do still watch it now. And of course the whole cast is great, and I greatly adore and admire Ms. Moore. I urge fans of hers to read her excellent autobiography: "After All".

The Mary Tyler Moore Show was an extremly funny comedy. It had a mix of great characters, my favorites being: Ted Baxter, Phyllis Lindstrom, and Gordy. Really, they were all good characters, and the spin-offs were good too, except for Lou Grant, which was a short-lived lousy spin-off.

"The Mary Tyler Moore Show," quite simply, is the best show ever put on television. With a brilliant ensemble cast and unparalleled writing, this television show was a pillar during the 1970s and remains so today. There's never been anything that comes even close to this brilliant show.

The Mary Tyler Moore Show is one of the most intelligent, literate, funny sitcoms to ever air! In her character, Mary Richards, Mary Tyler Moore gave women something to be proud of. It was a honest show, and was able to deal with real issues, like marriage, divorce, women's lib, etc, but never got preachy or made a big deal out of the issues it handled. Consistently great writing has allowed the series to create a fanbase which spans generations. It is a television classic in every sense of the word!

As I write this, the Mary Tyler Moore show is hovering somewhere 70th place on this list. I just don't get it. MTM is one of the great shows of all time. The writing is generally strong, but it's main strength, as many people have noted here, is it's magnificent ensemble of characters. It holds up year after year with charm and wit to spare. The only weak spot is Mary's two-dimensional, interchangable, completely disposable gentlemen callers. Just as well, I guess. If they'd have been interesting Mary might have gotten married like Rhoda did (and we all know how THAT turned out).

The Mary Tyler Moore Show is the best sitcom of all time. It was consistently funny, yet it also addressed serious issues, such as women's rights, death, adoption, divorce, and drug addiction, in a sensitive, non-preachy way. The stellar cast (including Ed Asner, Valerie Harper, Ted Knight, Betty White, Cloris Leachman, and Gavin MacLeod) also made this show special. I particularly enjoyed the relationships Mary had with Rhoda and Phyllis and the absurd antics of Ted and Sue Ann. So many episodes are memorable- like when Chuckles the Clown (dressed as a peanut) was shelled by a rogue elephant and the time Mary and Rhoda joined a group for divorced people (in order to get discount plane tickets) and Mary is elected vice-president of the group. I could go on and on because there are so many good episodes. I have all 168 shows on tape, and I never tire of watching them.
