 | Spike65 (11) 08/22/2007 | Always enjoyed this show. Once again writing and acting far exceeds any comedies today. The one place you could comfortably watch Andy Kaufman.

 | VeracruzD (4) 04/11/2007 | Great show with clever writing. Louie DePalma was the slimiest, sleaziest character on T.V. Danny DeVito and Andy Kaufman were brilliant! Marilu Henner was a real looker. They were all losers but didn't know it.

 | disgust4PCness (19) 11/08/2006 | Great intro music...fantastic cast (with a few exceptions)...and Christopher Lloyd! Show started to tank with Simka...and perhaps with Latka's split personality of Vic.
...and I'll never forget..."Good night Mr. Walters." "Uh-uh."

 | VirileVagabond (32) 09/24/2006 | Though obviously a crossover decade television series, "Taxi" has its roots in the 70's. James L. Brooks was one of the show's creators, and the similarities between this show and his later work on "Cheers" is evident. In my opinion, the characters that made this series a success were obviously Alex Reiger (Judd Hirsch), Louis DePalma (Danny DeVito), and Jim Ignatowski (Christopher Lloyd), as I've never gotten into Andy Kaufman or the other co-stars of the show. Nevertheless, the life situations explored and representations of the human condition made by the screenwriters were spot on, even though tempered with humor. The bottom line is that while other series may have been slightly better, "Taxi" deserves no less than four stars.

 | frogger20190 (3) 05/15/2006 | This was a great show until it dwelled on the unfunny character Latka and his romances with Carol Kane. The other Andy Kaufman character (the swinging guy) was funnier but rarely seen.
But for the most part, this show ruled.
Reverend Jim (Christopher Lloyd) was hilarious!

 | Mr Nuetron (1) 12/09/2005 | Great cast most had good success after the shows run was over. The great thing about this show was that it was not a single character worship fest like Mash or Happy days.YOu had the self doubting but always helping Alex Reiger, the stoner that every one had had in their life at that time Reverend Jim and the Half pint Tyrant Louie Depalma.Although the Latka character was beneath this show and a constant embarrassment everytime he appeared. The untalented gutter celebrity Andy Kaufman.Despite Latkas presence this is still one of the most hilarious, message in the end but not preachy shows ever.Well written and character driven show.

 | 4real (0) 04/08/2004 | In TV history, Taxi boasts the greatest ensemble of big-city neurotics this side of Seinfeld. I respect the show as television art and give it four stars for portraying the angst of modern urban living. It seemed like much of the appeal, in addition to the comical characterizations, came from yearning alongside each of them as they waited for the big break, the better deal or the magic solution to all their problems (often in the form of a special someone) while knowing full well that life posts long odds on heady dreams. All in all, Taxi was potent for its blending of comedy and pathos.

 | Moosekarloff (17) 12/23/2003 | Fairly entertaining, but also fairly stupid and not a particularly mimetic portrayal of life in New York. The acting was pretty limp for the most part: Danza's a no-talent gooch who somehow managed to hook onto two long-running TV sitcoms, Henner's part could have been played better by anyone General Casting could scare up, Lloyd was a bore, Hirsch was about as convincing as a blow-up sex doll, and DeVito was so shrill and over the top that I had difficulty watching episodes of this program all the way through. Kaufman and Carol Kane were the best things on this program. Writing was so-so, as so many of the episodes were totally unmemorable.

 | GRIP (0) 04/27/2003 | THERE IS NO SHADOW OF DOUBT THAT TAXI IS THE DEFINITION OF GREAT AMERICAN TELEVISION. A CLASSIC AND A MASTERPIECE, HATS OFF TO THE CREATIVE MINDS BEHIND THE SITCOM THAT STILL TO THIS DAY TICKLES OUR FUUNY BONE AND WARMS OUR HEARTS.

 | ChunkyLover53 (0) 02/16/2003 | I wouldn't call Taxi a GREAT show, but it did set the stage for shows like Cheers, Seinfeld, and Wings. Taxi had a good setting, good plots, and likeable characters. It had some hysterical moments, like Reverend Jim's driving test and Elaine's disastorous haircut. I think there were some times when the writing could have been a lot better though.

 | Narud Otrebor (0) 12/07/2002 | Solid enough show, with a good ensemble. But this continuing fascination with the ALLEGED comedic talents of Andy Kaufman is beyond me. The guy was about as funny as syphillis.

 | Cosmo Renfro (2) 09/25/2002 | Taxi was one of the funniest shows ever on television. All the characters were unique and lovable. What other show has great stars like, Marilu Henner, Judd Hirsch, Tony Danza, Danny De'vito, Cristopher Lloyd and ofcoarse the comedy brilliance of Andy Kaufman. I love Taxi and still find myself watching it over and over again. It's a classic!!!!!

 | Damifino (0) 07/06/2002 | "Taxi" set the stage for other excellent ensemble comedies to follow, including Cheers, Night Court, and Seinfeld. Every single character on "Taxi" had a story to tell and usually had an integral part in the storyline. Thankfully, reruns are easy to find, because this is the kind of TV entertainment we need more of today.

 | Snoopy (3) 03/11/2002 | I've only seen it a few times, but I really like what I saw. I'll have to try and catch it more often. UPDATE: I've been watching Taxi on TV Land and I think this show truly is a classic. The writing, acting, plots, etc. are all wonderful. I think Louie, Reverend Jim, and Latka are the best. The only thing I don't like about Taxi are the characters of John Burns and Elaine. I thought both were very dull and annoying characters, but other than that, Taxi is great. It's definitely better than the lame, unfunny sitcoms that are on nowadays.

 | Joseph_S (0) 02/10/2002 | Taxi is truly a classic TV show. Everything about the show was wonderful: the cast, the characters, the writing, etc. I wish more TV sitcom writers today would take a look at great shows like Taxi and Wings and write more shows like them and less shows like Friends.

 | otlady27 (0) 12/13/2001 | A very funny genuine show. The acting talent was really good, perhaps with the exception of Marilu Henner, who read her lines in a constant monotone without any emotion. But everyone else was great, from Latka ("Nik-nik!") and Rev. Jim was one of the funniest characters on TV.

 | CastleBee (81) 09/27/2001 | Taxi started out with an excellent idea - a group of wacky NYC cab drivers and all the crazy things that go on in their lives. I doubt that a team of psychiatrists would see a bigger cross-section of personalities in 15 years time than this crew did on an average night. A wide-open concept where anything could happen and, of course, always did. Even so, had it not been for the stellar cast I doubt it would have lasted as long as it did. From the very first episode the entire group meshed well and never failed to give an enjoyable performance. Danny DeVito was hilarious, frustrating and believable to the extreme in his role as the curmudgeon, lecherous supervisor with the razor sharp wit and tongue. He ran the gamut from hilarious to obnoxious to sympathetic; sometimes he gave you the feeling that you wanted to slap him and at other times you wanted to give him a hug. I was already sold on the show when the terminally buzzed Reverend Jim stumbled in one day but that occurrence alone made me a weekly viewer. Christopher Lloyd was perfect in that part. Andy Kaufman's Latka character would have been a little much had he been featured more often, but since they wisely chose not to over use him, even this little oddball helped round out this eclectic collection of cabbies. My favorite eps with him were the ones when he brainwashed himself into believing he was the ultra-cool Vic Ferrari ("Walk with me, talk with me." - too funny!). This wonderfully acted well written show is one of the few that deserves to be called classic and holds up extremely well in the often times bleak world of re-runs.

 | callmetootie (4) 04/04/2001 | Taxi gets lots of credit, mostly because of the stars that it brought inot the 80's and 90's. You've got Danny Devito who was in Twins, Ruthless People, Resinnsence Man, The Van, Batman Returns. You've got Christopher Lloyd of Back To The Future, Clue, and Baby Genuises. You've got Jeff Conaway of Grease. Marilu Henner of Johnny Dangerously. Andy Kaufman of broadway fame. Randell Carver was my favorite character, but he was also the only one not to hit fame.

 | peku5492du (0) 07/04/2000 | I LOVED "Taxi", esp. the episodes featuring Andy Kaufman...Latka's "multiple personality" phase was hilarious and showcased Kaufman's exceptional talent as an impressionist. My favorite episode hasta be the one where Alex takes Latka to see the shrink, and Latka ends up believing he's Alex. Always liked Christopher Lloyd & Danny DeVito, too.

 | anne4507om (0) 03/06/2000 | From the people who brought you M*A*S*H and Cheers, Taxi is another great. Granted, it never grabbed consistant ratings, but, in my opinion, that shows how HIGH QUALITY a show Taxi was. Think about it: blatently contrived "millionaire" shows catch fabulous ratings, while stunning documentaries go unwatched by the general public. What I'm trying to say is, watch Taxi if you want to see a show with brilliant writing, poignent direction, dazzling acting, and comedic timing seen in maybe three percent of the situation comedies that have found their way onto TV since the businesss started.

 | Ruby (15) 12/13/1999 | Easily my favorite show of all time. Jim, Latka, and Louie were unbelievable characters. Tony Danza was still likable and Alex Reiger was a great focal point for the rest of the chaos (Bobby Wheeler was great too). The shows were so well-written that even Marilu Henner's bad acting couldn't deflate their overall charm.
