 | SharonParry (42) 10/25/2006 | A pretty good evening soap to watch, except I was never into soaps all that much. Family loved it, and, since it was on at night, most 1st shifters could get some soap watching time in. It was fairly popular among friends and relatives, and, even the neighbors did some scoop talking about it from time to time.

 | sfalconer (21) 10/28/2005 | Day time crap that fouled up prime time. Last thing we needed was another hour each week of talking heads and very little else going on. The show was all hype and no substance. Once again proving that people will watch just about any thing.

It was a fantastic show for a decade. Great quality, very good acting and great actors!

 | SBW (0) 05/20/2004 | This is by far the best television show - with two of the world's best actors, Gray and Hagman. It will never be forgotten and there will never be anything like it again. Sorry - Dynasty - cheap imitation.

 | handy (0) 04/18/2004 | The show got boring after awhile. It's always the same: JR is being power-hungry and is destroying his competitors and family members. But Victoria Principal, Charlene Tilton, Audrey Landers, Morgan Brittany, Deborah Shelton, Linda Gray are lovely to behold, stunningly beautiful. It's not a complex show, just recycled plots, but it's okay to kill an hour as entertainment.

 | southfork56 (0) 02/18/2004 | I loved this Show, I still watch the reruns on Soap net. J.R. is so good at being the real bad guy. Miss Ellie plays her part so wonderful. The sad part was when Jock Died and they started rearranging charactors. Bobby dying then coming back as a dream, come on they could have done better. But I still watch it. The best Soap opera on prime time TV to this day.

 | cheech (0) 11/04/2003 | I hated this show. My dad loved it and no one could watch anything else until he was done watching this and Falcon Crest. Ugh! We called it dad's night time soap. Him and my aunt would compare notes!

 | kolby1973 (32) 08/14/2003 | Dynasty was so much better and clever than this mediocre prime time soap of the 70's. It had its moments and I can definately say it was beyond irritating to always hear WHO SHOT JR?...ugh ! Thank God it ended when it did.

 | dallasforever (0) 08/14/2003 | Dallas will forever be the greatest primetime soap. Larry Hagman and Linda Gray shared a unique chemistry as JR and Sue Ellen Ewing. The other original cast members Barbara Bel Geddes, Jim Davis, Patrick Duffy, Victoria Prinicpal, Steve Kanaly, Ken Kercheval, and Charlene Tilton are all part of the phenomenon that became one of the most beloved shows of all time.
"Who Shot JR?"--need I say more? It was all that was talked about practically world-wide the summer of 1980. Awesome!!
It's unfortunate that a show of this magnitude had such a sorry ending. "JR Returns" the first movie after the end of the series, could have led to more great movies, but "War of the Ewings" was a disaster.
One more try, CBS! Reunite the cast for one more roundup! Dallas deserves a rip-roaring end.
***** PUT DALLAS ON DVD!!!! *****

 | red630 (0) 12/09/2002 | Why would anyone watch this show after such a ridculous dream season!

 | 747BraniffPlace (0) 11/09/2002 | The show had it all--until Jock Ewing died, and they changed the actress who played Miss Ellie (and changed her back to the original one), and then killed off Bobby Ewing and then after a season said it was all a dream!!!!! Come on!!!
The producers (and Larry Hagman) should have called it a day when Bobby Ewing left--or if Bobby wanted to return, they could have said that it was a long lost brother or a spy posing as Bobby; they should not have explained that the whole season was just a dream!!!!! The show was on life support afterwards. Did anyone ever hear of euthanasia?
Larry Hagman's portrayal of J.R. Ewing is one of the best portrayal of a go-getter businessman that I've seen and I'd rank that portrayal at five stars. But what they did with the departure and return of Bobby Ewing is what prompts me to take stars off my ranking of the show.

 | lukskywlkr. (3) 10/24/2002 | I loved this show for years until all the main stars started leaving and all these new ones came in that nobody cared about. For a good while, though, my whole family was glued to the set to watch the lovely Victoria Principal and Miss Ellie and Jock and no-good J.R. It was absolutely enthralling at the time. Of course, I've tried to watch it in recent years and it's just not the same thing.

 | Tiffanywelles (0) 09/07/2002 | The best things about this brilliant show: Lucy's modelling career, Angelica Nero's clothes, Afton Cooper's hit song "Steal Me Away and Never Let Me Go", Miss Ellie and her shotgun, Peter's blue speedoes. Oh, and former Miss USA Deborah Shelton. The most underrated actress in television history. Give that woman an Emmy!

 | Joey1963 (0) 08/05/2002 | This show was a hoot...I really enjoyed its first five years or so...then the storylines got so convoluted and silly...Bobby dead, dream, then back to life (it's spinoff Knots Landing never even aknowledged this)...then we have the "new" Ms. Ellie played by Donna Reed(a phenominal actress who was put in a real difficult situation) who is then replaced by the original Ms. Ellie, Barbara Bel Geddes...following all this...Lucy (Charlent Tilton) disappears and isn't even mentioned again even though her character was responsible for spinning off Knots Landing...then we have JR's office invaded by all these females who want to take over Ewing Oil...Barbara Eden (a little ploy to bring up the by then sagging ratings)and a few others...but overall it could be an entertaining and great way to think that your problems were'nt so bad!

 | Damifino (0) 07/06/2002 | The beginning premise of "Dallas" was simple enough: a modern-day "Romeo and Juliet" story, set amid lots of money, power, and peripheral sex. This carried the show for about the first 5 years. And a great show it was. After that, though, plotlines became more contrived, complicated, and downright silly (partly as a result of the deaths of patriarch Jock Ewing and, later, of Bobby). By the end, it wasn't nearly as fun to watch, but still better than a lot of the other junk in TV-land. Throughout, it managed to mix in a certain element of comedy with the melodrama. Worth a watch again, if it can be found in reruns.

 | jonathanhyers (0) 02/28/2002 | I loved the show. It was probably my all-time favorite. It did change as the years passed and JR was not as "evil" and didn't always win as he did earlier. It would have been better had they not changed his character too much. All in all though I think it was great and would love to see it all again.

 | Molfan (57) 06/27/2001 | The first few seasons were good. Then it went down hill fast. It seemed to get worse every year after the first three or four seasons. they changed too much. I stopped watching it after getting fed up with the stupid plots in the later years. It did have some good actors, Larry Hagman was perfect as J.R. the greedy sneaky liar , who was always swindling someone out of money.Patrick Duffy was good as well.I could have cared less about Charlene Tilton. It would have been about a four the first few seasons and then it just got worse so I would give it an average mark of three stars.

 | callmetootie (4) 04/05/2001 | There were only 2 characters that I liked from this show: Larry Hagman as J.R. and Jenilee Harrison as Jamie Ewing. First of all, I love Jenilee Harrison, she is one of the greatest actress in the world. I loved her when she was on Three's Company. Larry Hagman was great on I Dream Of Jeannie. Dallas was a pretty boring sitcom because she left, and he was left, and then he got shot.

 | music4life (0) 11/14/2000 | Dallas is one of my favorite shows of all times. I can't even attempt to explain why the show was good. I would just tell somebody to watch the very first episode, and I promise they will be addicted. I still watch it twice a day on TNN, and if my cable goes out in a storm or something, I have every episode on tape. Peace.
