One of the few 70's shows that I actually enjoy watching! Although I grew up in the 80's and 90's, I used to watch the Facts of Life reruns all the time as a child. I loved it then, and I still love it to this day!
Spike65 05/26/2008
Would give it two stars but my daughter watched it so I'll go three. For an adult to have to watch would be cruel and unusual punishment. Kim Fields was great as Tootie.
LadyJesusFan77 7 05/08/2007
This is a show that I have fond memories of, especially being the same age as they were. Always got their point across without getting graphic.
oscargamblesfr o 11/01/2006
Mrs. Garrett's voice was so intolerably shrill that it sounded even more frightening than cats having an orgy in your back yard. Dealt with stock characters, the same types of plots as most sitcoms of its ilk, laugh tracks to stuff that isn't funny...the usual run of the mill crap that the public at large often wolfs down...
SharonParry 10/25/2006
Goodness, how it made me want to be part of a group like that. Of course, being about as old as they were, I was also about as mature. It WAS a great show though.
X Factor Z 05/26/2006
What really bugged me is these girls thought they were too cool and hip for ABBA...yeah right,
93century 01/30/2006
I wish i could see the reruns of the pilot episodes. That way i can see the yummy Felice Schacter, and those cute little blonde girls.
Mr Nuetron 12/14/2005
Should have been called, the fats of life, especially after a few years on the air. They also had the worst non acting stiff this side of lenny dicaprio called George Clooney in a cameo.A feminist preachy gabfest with snob Blair, Tomboy Jo,Water buffalo Mindy Cohen and tootie and Mrs G.towards the end they had some disabled kid.I could see Mrs G driving all the characters to an abortion clinic and sermonizing how its a great thing.Politically correct pyschobabel.Yuck.
kattwoman 09/24/2005
this was one of my favorite shows. mainly because i was around the same age as they were at the time. jo was cool and natalie was funny.
Nightbird 06/17/2005
I thought Blair and Jo were the most good looking and they always were fighting. I always loved Natilie because she wasjust as funny as Tootie. A fun fact she was the first one of the Eastland girls to loose her virginity. Another fact is that the actress who played Blair didn't want them to have Blair lose her virginity because she is very religious and they let Blair keep her virginity. I think that that was a good decesion for the actress since it was only the 2nd season and being a Christian I think that that was brave or the actress to do that.
texasyankee 03/29/2005
I watched it out of desperation, nothing else to watch and to be honest I don't remember one single episode that stood out in my mind.
Deanooo 09/02/2004
Is there a reason why this is in the 70's column when it's an 80's show?
louiethe20th 06/26/2004
You take the good, you take the bad and there you have a lack of laughs!!
Throwback72 06/21/2004
Tootie tootie tootie,,,We watch this show just to see her but I used to like allthe other as well

Ghastly group of fat girls
lukskywlkr. 05/22/2003
This show when you get right down to it was pretty bad. I mean, it was so bad it was good. Sort of. Some of the girls were pretty cute, anyway. It must have had something going for it, considering it stayed on for years and years.
RebelYell1861 05/11/2003
Ain't no good.
MikeLuvsLucy 04/12/2003
This show was the one that was responsible for turning Nick at Nite into a freakin' 80's network. Unfortunitely for fans of older shows such as "Bewitched", their shows were being knocked off the air while FOL proved successful on Nick at Nite. This show inspired Nick at Nite to have that "Revenge of the 80's" marathon. And the 80's marathon inspired Nick at Nite to acquire 80's sitcoms and do away with older classic sitcoms. I rate "The Facts of Life" a 1 because it is truly a not-so-good show that basically ruined Nick at Nite. It is good to see that the show is no longer on N@N but unfortunitely we are still stuck with 80's sitcoms (all thanks to this little show).
CharlotteRaeFa n 02/17/2003
3.07? That's a joke! FOL is totally the BEST! It's truly one of the GREATEST sitcoms of all time, if not THE greatest. The last two or three seasons is when the show started to go downhill...but that's because Mrs. Garrett wasn't there quite as much. This has got to be one of Charlotte Rae's best on-screen successes! MRS. GARRETT FOREVER!!
HEIDLEEHOPE 02/09/2003
I loved this show...made up of rebels and goody-goodies...it was just great...great shows always!!!
teacherafael 11/17/2002
It's a truly master piece of comedy.
angel676 11/07/2002
Facts of Life is an outstanding show. The actors and characters were wonderful. Any and all teenagers can relate to the show and to the issues that was dealt with. I give this show 5 stars. It's the best, if it wasn't the best, it wouldn't have lasted 9 great years. I think this is a classic show and it will always be remembered.
radiogman 08/15/2002
I thought Diff'rent Strokes was bad, this was worse.
Joey1963 08/05/2002
It would be hard to imagine the 80's without that theme song and show every week. It had its moments, but how it lasted so long is still a mystery. My daughters get a kick out of the show now, and it has held up well over time. However, the reunion show was horrible...I watched it for about ten minutes and figured it was better to remember the original show in a positive light. Off went Tootie and company!
dogsbirdspets 07/29/2002
my family loves it, they think its real cool, funny and lessons at the same time couldn't get better
sit_ubu 07/08/2002
The sowe is grate but it is much better when they are in school.
Quincy 06/29/2002
This show really beat the odds to become a hit. Even the network itself seemed to stack the odds against it by putting it in a 9:30PM timeslot in its first full season (when Jo was added), but that was actually the year it began to take off. It was consistantly great right up until all four girls suddenly showed up with shoulder pads and Dynasty hair. That was scarier than the fire.
Nat4Eva205 06/21/2002
The Facts Of Life... was no doubt the BEST show ever!!! Every teen could relate to all these girls! I LUV FOL!!!!!
wwwwwwwwww 04/30/2002
The best of the cheesy 80's sitcoms. Natalie forever! Why is it listed in the 70's? it aired like 4 episodes in 1979 and 200 episodes in the 80's...It should be listed as an 80's TV show.
Errol 02/27/2002
I used to watch this show just to see cute girls. I didn't have much of a life back then.
FOLrocks1 02/11/2002
This hsow ran for NINE seasons! Doesn't that say something? And all teens could relate to the show!
Tootie_Rox 01/01/2002
I love Jo, Blair, Natalie, Tootie, and Mrs.G FIVE STARS!
ClassicTVFan47 12/26/2001
A rare find in the late 70s and 80s when sitcoms were taking a turn for the worse (can anyone say Married with Children?), Facts of Life is a great classic comedy! Sometimes tackling serious issues, sometimes going for all-out laughs, the show will always bring a smile to your face. Plus, the theme song rocks! :)
Snoopy 12/14/2001
It was a fun, harmless show. I liked it when I was younger.
LoneUSFullHous eFan 11/17/2001
I was around 3 when the show was in its prime, so I never really got into it until they started showing the reruns on Nick at Nite. This is another clean, decent show from the 1980s. Natolie was my personal favorite. She had a witty coment for everything. I can't wait for the reunion this Sunday at 7:00 PM on ABC. With all the positive comments I see, I can't believe this rating is so low.

"You take the good, you take the bad, and there you have The Facts of Life, The Facts of Life, ...The world never seems, to be livin up to your dreams..." One of the few teen shows that really should be watched by teens!! A great group of kids from different backgrounds that go through realistic teen trials- no monster killers (Buffy)and witch problems (Sabrina, Charmed). I was a teen in the 80's and watched this. I hope teens now can watch it. Its also a hoot to see a young George Clooney in alot of the episodes.
farnorth 10/04/2001
Harmless little show that was always good for a laugh and never tried to be more than it was. Glad it was around when I was growing up and fun to re-watch now. Got to give it credit-it held it's own against Dynasty.
1971 09/12/2001
this show ran 8 seasons too many
Zankara 04/29/2001
Bad Show
callmetootie 04/07/2001
The Facts Of Life is the greatest show ever made, and I can safely agree with everyone else, that it should be at #1. It has such a low rating on this website. We have to bring this sitcom to #1, people. It was so good. Edna Garret becomes housemother to 7 girls, and later school dietition to 4 girls at a private boarding school called Eastland in Peekskill, NY. She later opens up 2 shops: one a gourmet food shop and another, a small novelty shop selling stuff that you would find at Ripley's Belive It Or Not. Charlotte Rae, Lisa Whelchel, Kim Fields, Mindy Cohn, Mackenzie Astin, Nancy McKeon, Cloris Leachman, George Clooney, Pamela Segall, Felice Schatcher, Jenny O' Hara, John Lawlor, Julie Piekarski, Molly Ringwald, and Julie Ann Haddock star.
probstfan2001 04/06/2001
This is one of my fav shows. Natalie was my fav. The show ran too many seasons though. Adding that Aussie girl was the nail in the coffin. She sucked!

I love this show!!! My favorite character is Jo because she's a tomboy and so am I! My favorite episode is The New Girl. I think that with Jo the show cleaned up it's act and was a heck of a lot better! The other actresses made it possible for that show to make it as long as it did, and they are great actresses! I love "Facts of Life" and am so glad that Nick at Nite is airing it.
wild8266om 03/17/2001
The last 4 seasons were boring. Seasons 2-5 were really good. I always wondered why? If they had a different director-he should have been fired or cancelled the series.
Nantucket Boat 03/16/2001
you take the good, you take the bad, you take them both and then you have - a really bad show... a really bad show.
APPLEI 03/14/2001
THE SHOW RAN 3 SEASONS TOO MANY!
NancyMcKeonRox 02/20/2001
Jo is the coolest! Nancy McKeon did a great job playing her! I'm so glad N@N is airing it, I just wish they wouldn't skip episodes!
Hayleys3 02/11/2001
The Facts of life are all about you... What can I say, I lived, laughed, and loved this show all through my childhood into my teens. I idolized Jo's confidence, wanted to be an actress like Tootie, be funny like Natalie, and have hair like Blair. But honestly, I considered FOL to be my second home, I tuned in every week, and I knew George Clooney would be going on to be a star even then when he was climbing his to the top! I realize this isn't going to help anyone, I just wanted share my love for the show, and say that if Nancy and Kim don't want to do the reunion show then there should be no show at all, the FOL was about the four girls and their head mistress, So, don't blow it NBC!
