 | tucojuanbenitoramirez (0) 04/02/2008 | What happened to it? Couple of years ago, probably a third of my TV viewing was
sci-fi channel. Now all they show is poorly made horror, weirdos chasing ghosts,
and whats with the wrestling? The horror and ghost chasing wouldn't turn so many
people off if it just wasn't so BAAD! SSG1 is OK, but it has a plot/background story that could have been the next classic if they had just put more effort into production. It takes a lot of incompetence to hold a great idea like SSG1 down to
just average. What's with the actors from failed 1980s TV shows?
Oh well, today I modified my program guide so that sci-fi doesn't even appear in
the list of channels. Now I won't have to see the lame titles and be annoyed that
such a once cool channel has fallen so far. Lets hope another network moves to
fill the vacuum sci-fi is leaving as it self-destructs.........

 | trebon1038 (65) 03/29/2008 | Im not a big Sci Fi person but they do play some really good movies on this network and they do it without the stupid makeovers and cooking tips to take away from the film.

 | Jenniferim (2) 03/03/2008 | When I first started to receive SciFi, I was thrilled. All my old favorites were being aired: Lost in Space, Creature Features and lots of others.
IMO, the shows airing are of much less quality. I would really enjoy this channel more if they would go back to airing some of the classics again.

 | denves07 (1) 12/30/2007 | Even though many of their "original" movies were silly (the list is too long) they were good for some laughs. But their wrestling boggles the mind. And I hate the reality crap (even Ghost Hunters). i guess they'll show re-runs of The Ghost Whisperer" before long. With Jennifer Love Hewitt I might watch though!
This network needs Outer Limits, X-Files, etc. for series and I would prefer some classic horror/sci-fi movies (from the 50's & 60's). Remember Tarantula from the 50's?!
These were classics! I mean "Decoys" is okay (T&A alert) but enough is enough...

 | kungfuimmortal (0) 09/18/2007 | Love Ghost Hunters. Would love Sci-fi even more if they brought back MST3K. Some of the other reality shows are decent. Don't care for much else that they show. Watched about 30 minutes of Ice Spiders with my wife. We made SOOO much fun of it. Their version of Dune is one of the best movies ever, IMO.

 | ChuckTagert (0) 07/08/2007 | The SciFi Channel is a shadow of it's former self. I really have to wonder about this station. They seemed to be confused about the term science fiction. Wrestling, paranormal and all the other kooky shows that have been given air time. They are simply not keeping up with the talent that has gone before or the talent that is displaying itself all over the web. (If you know where to look.) I especially thought it showed incredible stupidty to axe Stargate SG1. A TV series that has been honored by Academy of Science Fiction, Fantasy & Horror Films and was nominated for several Emmys. I find hope that we as fans of science fiction have power over these corparate baboons. Case in point the resurrection of Star Trek and recently CBS responding to fan pressure and returning "Jericho" to friday in the 8PM time slot. The SciFi channel should get some competion from them.

 | ClassicTVFan47 (38) 08/17/2006 | Why did they take original Star Trek off of their schedule completely? Why did they get rid of Seaquest and Earth 2? Why do they not show the Godzilla movies that they used to? There are lots of questions to be answered about this station. Here is one more: Why is a science-FICTION channel airing the ECW wrestling? And, with my interest in both Stargate shows now rising, why is ECW getting a whole ratings point higher than anything science fiction on the network. And, even more, why does Sci-Fi *persist* in showing horror, which is not science fiction. Small praise, however, does go to the network for picking up the repeat rights to Star Trek: Enterprise.

 | worldcitizen1844 (2) 12/26/2005 | It's good some good shows like 4400 and Stargate-Atlantis but its got a whole lot of ones I personally don't care for. C sci-fi movies have never interested me. "B" ones usually aren't much better. The thing that I really don't appreciate are horror or superstition-based films.

 | traderboy (26) 10/27/2005 | Such a wonderful idea (the kind of thing cable television was made for), but squandered with made-for-channel swill, done on the cheap with storylines you just can't get involved with. The morning-afternoon show block is inspired, but the installed clunkers assure sporadic viewings, at best. Working a deal to get ALL of the Star Trek series (and keep them somewhere in rotation) should be top priority, and bringing back MST3K (even in reruns) would go a long way towards variety. For me, the Sci-Fi Channel has become a "flip and trip" afterthought, where I'm going around the dial and accidentally find something good (like the FLASH GORDON movie or 12 MONKEYS) and stay there. A lot of the problem has been the lack of good shows to choose from (only 1 in 3 things from this genre has ever been worth noticing), but I expected better from what still could be a decent concept.

 | caligula (2) 10/12/2005 | A great idea, but the programming stinks. It should be top flight scifi movies, original shows, and classics (like Twighlight Zone and STrek), instead, there's nothing on this network worth watching.

 | Neo17_2005 (0) 08/17/2005 | This channel has jumped the shark when they started airing reality shows such as Scare Tactics, Ghost Hunters, and Master Blasters. Bonnie Hammer has ruined this station big time and should be fired for this.

 | tvtator (6) 11/25/2003 | I like this channel better when it aired more classic sci-fi tv shows such as The Twilight Zone, the old Outer Limits, Star Trek(I hate all Star Trek shows, but it belongs on the Sci-fi channel) The Bionic Woman, The Six Million Dollar Man, The Invaders, Dark Shadows, Forever Knight, and many other sci-fi shows. Their original shows such as Scare Tactics(more reality crap) just are not as good. At least they air The X-Files which is one of the best shows ever to air on television. I think the executives at the Sci-Fi channel should create another channel and maybe call it Sci-Fi Classic and air all the classic shows(i.e Twilight Zone, Star Trek, The Invaders, perhaps The Prisoner, Dark Shadows etc) and keep the semi-current and new stuff on The Sci-Fi channel. Just a thought.

 | Daveycoon (0) 05/18/2003 | Hey, Sci Fi - ever wonder why you're at the bottom of the ratings barrel? No, this isn't yet another They Cancelled Farscape complaint, there's enough of those. No, Sci Fi, it's the way you treat your viewers. Or, should I say, former viewers. For example, that giant ugly hammer-and-sickle thing in the corner. That didn't used to be there. The fact that the very microsecond the closing credits of Star Trek began, you squashed it over into a corner so that you could start spamming me immediately. And let's not forget the pop-up that tells me I'm watching Star Trek. GOSH! Thanks for letting me know! Seeing Bones and Kirk and Uhura up there gave me no clue. I thought maybe it was a remake of Gilligan's Island. Look, if I want pop-ups, I'll go to angelfire.com. So just keep doing what you do best, Sci Fi. Which is keep viewers away in droves.

 | MedgarEvers (15) 03/24/2003 | When I look in the TV Guide to see what Sci-Fi is showing, I'm often disappointed to see that it's some 1-star movie. I often watch them just for kicks, but I do discover that most of the time they deserve only 1 star. They added it to basic cable a while ago for us in NY State. It's one of the only remaining channels that gives me The Incredible Hulk, Twilight Zone, MST3K, and a bunch of other great shows. But what's with that whatever-it's-called low-quality sinister soap opera?

It was fun tuning into Dark Shadows for a few minutes. I remember seeing these old shows when I was a kid. Some of the stuff I am not interested in. Some of the stuff they show over and over again. I wish I had the chance to see Taken, I hear that was pretty good. I would really give this a 3.5.

 | clegg7g (0) 01/06/2003 | At one time, this was my favorite network. It is now a channel that shows crappy horror movies and B movies. They have cancelled several good shows and replaced them with crap. They are obvioudsly changing from a SciFI channel into something else. They are completely dishonorable in that they promised a 5th season of their flagship, critically accaimed show Farscape and then took back their word. They never re-air back episodes of Farscape and, with their lack of marketing, shofting timeslot, and huge time gap in the middle of the season, it seems that they wanted to rid themselves of this show from the start of season 4. Do not get involved in any show on SciFi, except the last Episodes of Farscape starting on 1/17 at 8pm, as that is the only show worth watching on this channel.

 | Suse (0) 01/06/2003 | It's obvious that the current regime at the SciFi channel cares only about money, not about quality or their viewers' opinions. Their current programming aside from Farscape ranges from boring to manipulative to putrid.

they've had a change in management. Now they want
shows like John "The Con" Edwards, the Dream Team
and Scare Tactics. These are con shows, not
science fiction.
With the premature cancelation of Farscape (before
alowing the producers the chance to finish the
series), Stargate ending after this season,
there's no reason to watch it anymore.
They've lost sight of who they are.

 | DorothyGail (0) 01/05/2003 | One star because there isn't a "O" available. They have the name recognition for the Sci-Fi genre, but are changing their format to horror, psychic, cheap reality programming, and reruns of programs that can be found first-run on other channels. SciFi doesn't deserve to live any more. It's time for someone to step in and fill a hole in the market! Let's have some classic Science Fiction and Space shows! Give us some new quality production like Farscape, which SciFi doesn't need or want any more. Give us reruns of classic Science Fiction like Dr. Who or "The Day The Earth Stood Still". UPN and TNT are more Sci-Fi than "SciFi"!

 | Vesh (0) 01/05/2003 | When the channel began, Scifi offered some truly interesting programming. Thier originals did well to rise above thier dismal budgets to offer something unique and interesting. Even thier rerun programming was thoughtfully acquired and aired and made the channel seem like they knew what genre fans enjoyed.
Now, however - after several changes of top brass - they've turned into the CBS of genre channels: continually making bad, bottom-line minded decisions that neither entertain viewers nor further the science fiction or fantasy genres. The kneejerk cancellation of Farscape proves what the Sci-fi Channel is about now: money - without even the pretense of seeming like they want to offer interesting shows. More proof of this channel's lack of care and insight to its target audience is the recent inception of the shows: The Dream Team and Fear Fac- er, I mean, Scare Tactics. Talk- and reality- shows, respectively. My television used to stay on The Scifi Channel almost constantly, but these recent cheap attempts to bolster ratings and broaden thier market only serves to insult - and further lose - me as a viewer.

Now it is set up to defraud the gullible with Jon Edwards, the Dream Team and Scare Tactics. What good shows they have are driven into the ground. X-Files is on 2 other networks, SG1 is on 1 other network. How many times can you show the Twilight Zone? The SFC wants cheap. Cheap movies, cheap tv shows, cheap quality, cheap acting and cheap "scifi". I wasn't Taken. When Farscape leaves SFC, there will be nothing left and I will never turn it on again.

 | ScaperRhonda (0) 01/05/2003 | First they cancelled Farscape and now they've cancelled me! My cable provider recently put this channel on their digital lineup. Sci Fi said they should get to decide if they're on analog or digital. The cable company said they had to go digital because the reception was so awful. It was bad, really bad. Sci Fi said it's our way or nothing so they quit broadcasting through my cable provider. Like pouting children they turned their backs on people who have done nothing but support them. Maybe going to a digital line up would mean losing viewers (although I switched to digital for the only reason of not losing Sci-Fi)but they decided to say frell you all instead. I've absolutely had it with the Sci Fi network. I am grateful they put Farscape out for us and I'm not rating them this low because of the cancellation. I'm rating them this low for behaving like spoiled children.

 | lostinonespot (0) 01/04/2003 | Used to be a good channel. A few years ago, it took chances with Farscape, Lexx, The Adventures of Jules Verne, and others. Now it looks like a channel that will only deal with cheap "reality" shows of the paranormal. The con artist John Edward, and the amazingly idiotic show where people interperet dreams, done very cheaply with a studio audience oohing and aahing at every word. Gone are "Farscape," "Invisible Man," "Outer Limits," etc, which are real shows that have complicated plot lines, charactors, and are real entertainment. Catering to paranormal "reality" shows causes the channel to not only lower its standards and intelligence, but it also makes SCI-FI as big a liar as the "psychics" it promotes.
