I remember, about A Decade ago they used to play Silent Movies, I always got a Kick out of them, granted I was stoned At the time.
These Days, I Love the Old Gangster flicks From the 1940's or Hitchcock films that they Seem to play a lot.

An excellent station that has actually stayed loyal to its viewers. Like others I hope it doesn't change its format.

Other than the station being named after Ted Turner, it is one of the best there is. I love the intros by Robert Osborne. Top notch station 5 stars!

TCM truly carries a variety of timeless classic film favorites, just as AMC used to about eight years ago.  I hope it doesn't change its format.  It truly lives up to its full name: Turner CLASSIC Movies.  It is quickly becoming one of my favorites.

This is something good from Ted Turner! The stable of flicks is actually good and is a source for much movie history.

I'm surprised and delighted to find this channel at #1 on the list!
Classic movies from all genres, with classic cartoons and short subjects between movies, all uncut, commercial-free and presented in an intelligent manner. What more could a film buff want?

Great movie selections and NO COMMERCIALS. Besides the Daily Show and Iron Chef, it's the only thing I miss since I shut off cable.

This is def. a great channel. My only critique is that I wish it had a larger library of classic films in which to broadcast. For instance, sometimes they'll show the same film up to a half-dozen times a year, while numerous other classics I'd love to see have never been shown. In the near future, hopefully TCM will gain the rights to additional classic films so that the channel's variety will be more diverse from what it is presently. Regardless, I still give TCM high marks; the dude that introduces each feature film (name?) is particularly sharp and extremely informative in his much of his pre-film commentary.

I love the variety of old movies from the 1930's onward. I only wish there were more movies in color, though.

Any channel that plays classic movies is a great channel. They play alot of movies that many people my age have probably never heard of. But they aslo play many popular ones that people should see like Citizen Kane and Vertigo.

This a great movie channel. They show a wide range of high quality classics from several of the big studios. They do a good job of cleaning the films up and leveling the sound. The films are shown without commercial, which is great. Most films are also shown in widescreen which is the only way to do it.

This is the channel I watch the most. The reasons I like it so much is that they do not have a constant logo on the screen to distract from the movies and cause burn-in on my TV set. They play all their movies that are widescreen in their original letterbox format. The things that they show you can't find anywhere else. This is the best channel on television.

My doctor once told me that watching black and white movies was good for your eyesight, heart and liver function, circulation, respiratory system and stress reduction. Sometimes I just keep it on 24 hours a day because I think it makes the house healthier and happier.

When I used to have digital cable I used to check this out. It is what AMC used to be, commercial-free classic movies. They even have silent films on. AMC has movies that TBS, TNT, Comedy Central, USA, and everyone else has.

They show some really good classic movies. I like Robert Osbourne, and the star and spotlights of the months. I also enjoy the movie news, the short features in between features, and the new "under the influence" is a good feature it's cool to get a celebrity take on a classic movie. I like the "essentials" but TCM shows the same ones over and over again, they need to show more. Best of all it's commercial free. 100 times better than AMC.

A couple of months ago, this would have been FIVE stars. But TCM has jumped the shark. This used to be the best channel on the air. It still is, but ONLY because every other channel is WORSE. TCM has become spammy and repetitive, between movies they show the same things over and over and over, and flashy graphics have taken over what used to be quiet dignity. Wait - what's this? "An AOL/Time Warner Company"...? Well, now we know WHY. How much longer before they start showing commercials? How much longer before they become another AMC? They're halfway there already.

Over the last year, I've become a HUGE fan of classic American movies, thanks almost entirely to TCM. Commercial-free, widescreen when applicable, this is by far the classiest, best movie network out there, better than any of the premium channels, a million times better than the horrid, unwatchable AMC. I especially love Silent Sunday Nights on TCM. There's something haunting about those flickery old images--it's like a window into a whole `nother world. Now if someone could only dedicate an entire network to foreign movie classics.

Not wild about some of the movies they show. My idea of a classic is apparently not the same as theirs. However, when they do show one that I want to catch, it is almost always in Letterbox format, at that goes a long way with me. Over the Christmas holidays, they showed the wonderful "A Christmas Story" and it was in glorious letterbox. I started to purchase the movie on DVD, but I put it back on the shelf when I saw it wasn't letterbox. TCM saved the day on that one.

Since the sad demise of AMC, TCM is now the last bastion of class and refinement available. NO commercials, NO stupid logo-blot in the corner, and the zippy, flashy, trendy graphics crap is kept to a minimum. The movies are good, and the host(I forget his name) isn't spammy, but knowledgeable. I hope and pray they don't go the way of AMC... I'll sell my dish if they do.

I enjoy getting this channel TCM shows a variety of movies, going all the way back to silents,to some real classic movies. We have been pleased in he past with some of the great movies they have shown. And a real plus is not commercials! I am especially looking forward to March because it is Oscar month at TCM. They show all movies that have either won an oscar for something or has been nominated. We get our VCRs ready in March because TCM really shows some great movies during that month. We even logged on to TCM to get a calendar of march. The only reason I am giving this a four instead of a five is I wish they would add some more movies to their library.

We just got this over the holidays and it is SUperb! (hopefully you’ve gotten it in New York by now too unkystan). All the old films that were once so much a part of my early indoctrination into the classic films but had seemed to disappear into near oblivion over the last several years. On the one hand I think it kind of stinks that Ted owns all this great stuff – as if he wasn’t already one of the premier megalomaniacs of our time. But, on the other hand I really do like this network and find myself turning to it more and more often. Yeah, I know, they’re really sucking me in big time – but that’s okay! One really interesting thing they’re doing which I noticed yesterday are the short features on the old character actors – you know the people you see in a film and say – wow, this person was in everything and I never even knew their name. I always thought these great support actors deserved more respect than they ever got. Really interesting historical stuff along with great old films of all kinds. Actual entertainment – what a concept!

Turner owns the MGM and Warner Brothers library of films (also others like RKO, etc) Huge inventory so not repeated very often. Films shown in letterbox when available. Great filler short subjects and original trailers. Documentaries can't be beat. No colorized films, no cuts, no commercials, great fun. Only beef, not available in many areas! Not networks fault but cable operators. I DON"T GET IT!!! I have friends in other areas who tape whole days for me (I live in NEW YORK!!!) What's the deal? I can get 4 shopping channels but can't see Gone With The Wind? Not fair!

This channel is ten times better than AMC. They show much better movies and not nearly as many repeats. The star of the month thing is great too. Kudos for the most Bette Davis, Errol Flynn, Clark Gable and Cary Grant movies of any channel. I wouldn't be without this one.
