Since I have two teenage sons, this strip is sometimes a bit too much like real life.

Often little more than unappealing and mediocre, though harmless. One of those teen lifestyle strips that crop up in every generation, from Harold Teen to (yes) Beetle Bailey to Funky Winkerbean....

I think Borgman's depiction of teenage life is on the mark, and the strip shows this effectively from both the parents' and the teens' perspectives.

It's funny and educational. It shows the tough times kids have growing up these days in the midst of all the plenty.

As a parent; i share the nightmare; and the nostalgia

'Nail on the head' right. Anyone with a teenage boy should read this one like a bible.

Decent.
singsplatsing 02/22/2005
Probably the only one in the funny pages today that is actually funny.

I don't know why, but this comic strip reminds me a bit of the fantastic Calvin and Hobbes, only that this one is told from teenager's point of view. It is hilarious to see how Jeremy's parents are going crazy because of his rebellious attitude, and even though it may be a bit exaggerated, I think most of us can identify with Jeremy (who hasn't ever been harassed by school, homework etc?)

This comic is just plain funny! The author must be around teenagers, because he/she takes everything they say about us and makes it funny. I love this one.

Wonderful. A comic strip about an obnoxious kid and his yuppie scum parents... Who needs this dreck???
Elf_ears13 10/17/2004
Jeremy is just like my brother, it's uncanny - Oh wait! Almost all teenage males are like that! A great comic strip.
sld31879 06/23/2004
Mildly amusing, doesn't take any risks, will never prompt angry letters to the editor and doesn't offend intelligence but very rarely laugh out loud funny either. Only so many G to PG jokes you can tell about adolescence so the future does not look good.
jouster 06/15/2004
Good for a while, but staring at the 'one joke from now on' precipice. C'mon, there's more to a teenager's life than rebellion and untidiness. Has its moments nevertheless.
Habanerobuck 06/04/2004
Of course, everyone recognizes the attitudes prevalent throughout the strip, so there is a familiarity to it. I think you need to have at least one sympathetic character for a successful comic strip. No one in Zits would qualify.

zits is one of my favorite comics. i look forward to reading it every sunday (it's the only day i see a newspaper). it's so true
Kikki Polke 04/29/2004
A look a teenagers from a middle-aged parent's point of view. Lots of stuff to relate to here, but the characters are generic and uninspired.
forgotten hero 07/26/2003
I can actually understand why these characters act the way they do. The art is great and the writing is funny. Some of the other comic strips should take notes.

Great strip! Love the art style! ~Erg!
RebelYell1861 05/31/2003
It's usually pretty funny because it's so realistic; although it's not quite as good now as it used to be.
bud neill 05/31/2003
Good. Great artwork, but the writing is so bland.
ilovefoxtrot 04/26/2003
I don't know how they can get into the mind of a teenager and his parents so perfectly...but they just do
lunablu 03/16/2003
I have a teenage brother. This strip is about him.
Classic Steve 03/12/2003
The cartoonists have mastered the visual metaphor as set forth by "Calvin," manifest in Jeremy "getting lost in" his girlfriend's eyes. Few comics work so well with the art-humor interface while covering the gamut of facets to their subject, such that it looks like they'll never run out of good ideas.
j777 03/01/2003
it's just funny! it can relate to a yong teenager's life. it's a great comic to admire and read everyday.
buzzdav4 02/23/2003
Very nearly like every teen guy I know, especially my own. Eerily similar. I especially like the hapless, clueless father, a guy with whom I strongly relate. And the eternally optomistic, indulgent mom is a classic character, tireless and patient--like my wife. A favorite.
durangoscot 02/19/2003
Sometimes not very funny.
jdubrates 02/18/2003
Jerry Scott & Jim Borgman are a great combination (also love Scott's "Baby Blues," and his version of "Nancy" before he handed it over to less capable hands). Zits is one of those few comicstrips that is both well-drawn AND well-written. More like this, please!
joseph.watson 12/15/2002
Best comic strip since Calvin and Hobbes. Zits is funny and original. A true classic.
traincollector 11/20/2002
Funny how true and yet bizarre this comic can be!
SNOWBUNNY 09/29/2002
I like it,it's funny
Rusty 06/18/2002
A decent, well-written cartoon. Jeremy is way too obnoxious for me; however, his parents are pretty cool.
aflx 06/17/2002
This is a well-written strip that doesn't take itself too seriously and maintains interesting storylines without getting bogged down. Sort of like an average, well-adjusted teenager.
The Waffler 01/10/2002
I like it because it seems like a "Calvin & Hobbes" with Calvin as a teenager. The writing and humor is similar to Bill Watterson.
Potch1214 09/18/2001
A young up and comer. This could be one of the greats over time, perfectly picturing the modern teenagers angst and relationships.
Snoopy 07/04/2001
A comic strip I can relate to.
Spiralingmarce 05/21/2001
Anyone who doesn't see their teenage son or a boy they knew as a teenager hasn't lived in the real world. Sometimes Jeremy seems like the stereotypical teenager, but at least he doesn't say "LOL." A psychiatrist for a mother and an orthodontist for a father are hard to live down. His high school life could be anyone's.
