Eva Cassidy was a undiscovered talent whose fine voice was captured on 2 or 3 underproduced albums of covers and standards before she died. Somewhere there appears to have been several cartons of demo tapes un earthed and she is sustaining a posthumous career that makes her look like the easy listening world's version of Tupac Shakur.

I actually prefer her version over Sting's by a large margin. It's such a shame that she is gone, but at least we were able to discover her before her music faded into obscurity. Maybe now she will live on forever.

I have played this CD for any number of people who, after a single hearing, have become simply passionate advocates for Eva. She seemed to be able to do any type of music well -- blues, jazz, pop, and popular ballads. Her version of SOMEWHERE OVER THE RAINBOW is now considered by many to be the most extraordinary and revelatory rendition ever done (and that comes from someone who adores Judy!) Purchasing this record is the easiest "no brainer" I have ever known...you will adore it. It is the item which I and all sorts of others now give as the best thank-you present to our friends. Enjoy!

And the first time you listen, use headphones and pick-up the details in her voice. She is not only a powerful singer, but her range is great. But the very first image that came to my mind was crystal clear spring water. The most pure voice I know. Enough gushing, I'm going to put it in my player right now.
