Really good vid,for it's time, a little time worn but I still like it.
Sam.I.Am 08/09/2009
One of the most overrated videos of all time. Adding horror movie effects to a video for a mediocre song is hardly "cutting edge". It is, however, proof that if you wrap a bad or so-so song up in interesting imagery there will be plenty of suckers out there to buy it. The videos to "Billie Jean" and "Beat It" were much better than this over the top dreck.
huusehead 08/09/2009
This video is the nexus to all modern music videos and today's Video choreography. Cutting edge is the word.

nightcrawlsin 07/06/2009
Greatest video ever made. I remember when I was a child me and my cousins would wake up on Halloween and call each other to see who found Thriller player on MTV first. Michael Jackson is probably the greatest musician to ever live. His music played a huge part in my life and his music changed everything. The world will be lost without him.Rest in peace my dear Michael. You will live on in my heart forever. I love you.
sharelllarae 03/19/2008
The best video ever! Very creepy and the costumes were awesome.
neicy43 01/06/2008
Michael Jackson remains one of the first pioneers of short-film music videos. Considering the issues tha continue to surround him, music remains an area that he can continue to excel in. It is impossible to strip Michael Jackson of the contributions he made to MTV and the other music video outlets. MTV continues to make money off of him even though in the beginning the were reluctant to play his videos, this changed when the realized the money potential. MTV owes Michael Jackson BIG TIME!!!
ridemooses 08/18/2007
Nothing less than amazing
doobiesNhof 06/03/2006
Overlooking all of MJ's problems, this is one of the best videos ever made and the song is also very good.
kattwoman 05/15/2005

JonTheMan 03/30/2005
Jackson's superb dancing maneuvers in concert with a gaggle of zombies was undeniably entertaining. Vincent Price certainly added some amusing commentary as well. My favorite part would be near the beginning when Michael tells his girlfriend I'm not like other guys.... Truer words were never spoken!
texasyankee 03/30/2005
I might have at one time thought this video was the best ever done, and I try to separate the people from their art, I have a hard time accepting anything from this man.SORRY
Jimmie 03/11/2005
A great example of life imitating art. Jackson is quickly becoming one of the ghoulish zombies shown in this video. What body part will fall off next?
MrMisterS 02/24/2005
Good, but overrated. There are better music videos than this. I gave this a one to drop its rating.
Flick01 01/27/2005
Although I am not a fan of Jackson or his music this video deserves credit for innovation and raising the mark. It was almost a mini movie and gave other video makers the green light to be innovative and use their imagination. This was Jackson at his best; The music was good, the video was excellent and Jackson still looked like a normal human being, not counting the makeup done for the video. It's a shame that some of todays videos have taken innovation and turned it into trash because while not every video can be what Thriller was, it was something that bands and video producers could look up to and shoot for. Somewhere along the way the music industry lost sight of what made the Thriller video great and along the way we also lost Michael Jackson.
Alexg681 01/27/2005
Made in 1983, 22 years later it's still clearly the greatest video of all time. I remember when MTV used to do their Top 100 or Top 500 videos of all time countdowns and this was #1 almost every time until they made a few other videos #1, obviously only to make the countdown more interesting and less predictable. But in reality they knew Thriller was the best.
middlefinger 01/22/2005
...Michael Jackson at his 'normal' best!
louiethe20th 01/22/2005
Very entertaining video!Probobly the best of all time.
TriSec 01/18/2005
Michael Jackson at the top of his game in his salad days...nothing else even comes close. They sure knew how to make them then.
southparker9 08/24/2004
A little much. The gloved one takes the music video process seriously. Today's artist could learn from him.
The R 06/23/2004
This Video has it ALL! Set the trend for all others. 5 stars!!!
TSColdMan 05/31/2004
No one has come close to achieving the musical and performance talent that Michael Jackson showcases... Thriller!
MichaelJackson Lover 05/17/2004
I Love Michael Joseph Jackson soooooo much. He is a living unlegend I couldn't image going a day without thinking about him or listening to his music and watching his videos. He is the most talented person, dancer, singer, song writer in the world. He created music videos, and Thriller was breathtaking, he is the most well known person all around the world and fans love him like crazy, like me! The dancing, outfits, plots of all the videos of his are amazing, and Thriller is so great and long!! I love Michael Jackson always and Forever!
Rufieo30us 02/23/2004
This video should be #1.....It is afterall the #1 best music video ever made! Michael Jackson was the imaginative creator in music video. I remember being very scared when I saw the video for the first time. It was neat to see a mini movie/music video. It just was a neat special treat for a music video. Now the guy who did the voice was creapy, VINCENT PRICE. Michael did a great job acting his part as a villian....
Fritoz1447 12/17/2003
Really long, and expensive I know... but beside from the great stuff Michael Jackson does, this video looks like something Hilary Duff would turn down in fear of looking to childish.
RebelYell1861 10/25/2003
Too long; not that cool to watch; overdone; completely over-rated.
Orr4oneOrr4all 06/17/2003
It Thrilled me!!
Simmer 05/18/2003
Fantastic video... Thriller was surely really something!!
bigdondoo 05/12/2003
I personally think Michael Jackson is a weirdo, but you have to like Thriller, it's a good storyline and decent music. Think what you will about Michael's life, but man, this guy can dance!
liquidlen 05/10/2003
Too long, too silly, just plain too "too". In other words, perfect for its time and its star. The fact that I don't like the song aside, the religious disclaimer at the beginning just annoyed a star off of it.
chiko_latino 04/12/2003
yesssss
HarryWaters 01/23/2003
Best of all time. No question.
Becks 01/09/2003
Set the standard for the cinematic/story-video. Problem is that the music video is no longer the novelty it was at the time; there will likely be little effort to duplicate such an over-the-top effort in the years to come. Still a fun nine minutes, and Vincent Price is the icing on the cake.
zuchinibut 12/09/2002
Callmetootie eats her own poo.
lukskywlkr. 11/14/2002
Now I know Jackson prides himself on his dancing and all that, but the point of having a bunch of zombies dancing around in synchronization is just lost on me.
Cara Jenkinson 11/04/2002
Michael Jackson is probably the most talented person on the whole damn planet. for all those freaks out there who gave thriller a bad rating i have a message for you. you have no taste in music what-so-ever.
maridan 10/17/2002
YESSSSS! WOOOO! Go Michael! :D:D:D:D:D:D It's so totally 80's!
r_mitchell 09/30/2002
Thriller defined a whole new era of video making. Back when music video's were consisted of watching bands play on an empty stage, Thriller gave us a creepy storyline mixed with great dancing. Whenever I have doubts to as to why I liked Michael Jackson I just refer back to his old stuff and it brings up some great memories. Had he died before the 90's hit people would have worshipped him like they do Elvis.
seandq 06/26/2002
This is unbelieveable. Thriller is not number 1? VOTE FOR IT!!!!!
bagman689 03/20/2002
Like there's a choice, this video revolutionized the entire genre
ellajedlicka21 03/05/2002
I'm not a big Michael Jackson fan, but this is a great video. Probably deserved of the rating it received as #1 all-time by VH1. The transformation of Jackson into a werewolf makes it a mini horror movie and its duration is about 13 minutes. The dancing is wonderful, it is basically a flawless video.
ACHow 11/29/2001
First Video Film which changed videos forever
Lord of the Waves 10/21/2001
WHY IS THRILLER NOT NO.1???? it is by far the greatest music video of all time. not to mention an awesome song. the choreography involved in it is mind blowing. where has good taste gone?
MedgarEvers 08/16/2001
This'd beat that Ricky Martin crap any day! I mean, what other music video needs a full list of credits? The dance routines are well-choreographed. Clever and fun.
CastleBee 07/31/2001
Okay, okay - I'm from the pre-MTV generation and I don't even watch VH1 very often. So, I probably have no right to even be nosing around in this category. But, this is an oldie and it was obviously a way above average video - then and now. Thriller had so much detail and depth (well, for a video) it was practically a movie short. Not to mention the costumes, makeup and FX were state of the art. Should be judged and rated in relation to its impact in its time period not compared to all the mega-techno developments of the last ten years. Jackson may be weird, but he knows how to do this stuff VERY well.
Xiala Proserpine 07/26/2001
It was a good video for its time.
Melanie Walker 07/11/2001
This video would have to be one of the best videos ever made.
candylandjoe 07/05/2001
nothing better than the dead dancing!
