 | Wiggum (18) 11/06/2000 | Here's a good idea: replace a volatile coach who cracks under pressure with a volatile coach who cracks under pressure. As a Michigan fan, I have mixed feelings about Moeller. He was a solid, if unspectacular head coach who led the Wolverines to a 44-13-3 record and won three Big Ten championships. OK, I guess, but with so much talent to work with, I feel like he could have done better. And of course there's the strange incident that forced Michigan to fire him. Moeller was eating dinner somewhere around Detroit, and he apparently got very drunk, angry, and had a little dustup with the cops. The guy is either unstable to begin with or the pressure of being a head coach had him extremely stressed out. What makes the Lions think that he'll deal with a professional team any better than he dealt with a college team? Still, one incident shouldn't ruin the guy for life, and I'll be rooting for him to make a good showing with the Lions.
