Johnny Bench is no where near the catcher Berra was.Berra was the best hitter to ever hit an unhittable pitch. He swung at balls that were nothing but sure junk, and he would still hit em.The 2 best catchers,Berra and Dickey hands down.Bench is great but Munson was even better if not for his early demise.Piazza is also in league with these others at least offensively

Nobody ever eats at that restaurant anymore. It's too crowded! ha ha ha Because of his Yogi-isms, people don't realize what a great player he was. When Casey Stengel was asked to name the single finest athlete he ever coached among the Yankees, he said that all-around, Yogi Berra was the best. I used to hate the Yankees, but couldn't help liking this colorful character and outstanding player.

Yogi is a proven winner who holds World Series records for games played, hits, and doubles. He was an All-Star for 15 straight seasons and won three MVP awards. His best season was 1950, when he batted .322 with 28 homers, 124 RBI's and just 12 strikeouts.

Yogi Berra of the New York Yankees (1946 - 1963) played on more pennant-winners (14) and World Championships (10) than any other player in history. Had 358 homeruns and a lifetime .285 batting average. Set many records for catchers, including 148 consecutive games without an eror. Voted A.L. Most Valuable Player 1951, 1954, and 1955. He also managed the Yankees to a pennant in 1964.

Playing on a team with Mantle, Maris, Ford on the like couldn't have been easy for Yogi but to quote Phil Rizzuto, Holy Cow could that guy play. It irritates me that he is best known by far for his Yogisms (baseball is 90% mental, the other half is physical ect.)and not for his play. He had awesome power, a great average and was versatile. How many games did Mantle catch? I think you have to be sober to do that.

Great ball player but not 24th all-time

When I was a kid I met Yogi at a card show in San Jose where I had him sign a magazine. He wasn't very friendly. Maybe he was having a bad day but that's no excuse to be an a-hole to your fans.

One of the great 'characters' of baseball he was a helluva player as well. A great catcher, a fine hitter...you just don't find guys like him anymore. Long life Yogi....

Fun to watch! Fun to listen to! A beautiful and thoughtful human being! What baseball,s supposed to be about!

World Series records are good but somewhat padded because the Yankees basically dominated the rest of the American league during Yogi's career. But Yogi was a classic ballplayer. . .and the funniest. My favorite quote- a reporter asked Yogi what went wrong when the Yanks lost a World Series he shook his head and replied: "We made too many wrong mistakes."

He has the most world series rings (10) in the history of baseball. A great Yankee catcher.

The Henny Youngman of baseball. If you have trouble taking him seriously, go check out his World Series stats. He didn't find his rings in the gutter, he earned them.

I personally always thought he should have had his own stand-up comedy routine.

All those rings cannot be ignored.

I don't know what to say in 250 words or less.
