Anyone writing a review of Kid Rock should understand his art at a basic level. To compare him to most other artists is to completely miss the point of his music. It's like comparing Evil Dead to Night of the Living Dead, or worse, Gone with the Wind. To start with, you must accept the Kid on his own terms. Try to understand first of all, that he's trying to create a cartoonish world, playing off of the cliches of hypermasculinity, the windblown life on the road, and the joys of drugs and loose women. Further, he creates a persona of jaw-droppingly egotistical and maniacally self-involved proportions. The results are very funny....not because they are bad necessarily....not like "Full House" funny....but rather because they take the cliches and revel shamelessly in them, glory unrepentantly in poor taste, amplifying it until it becomes an artform in and of itself. Cartoonish, and who doesn't like cartoons? Cartoons make us feel good, entertain us, and make us laugh. They are well crafted and, sometimes, even become classics. That, ladies and gentlemen, is Kid Rock in a nutshell. A well-crafted, unselfconscious, uniquely American cartoon.

The loser can't write a song and stole a riff from one of the sickest metallica songs. I wrote this in hope it will lower the rating even lower. I could never stress how much i hate that loser. For this CD...he will burn.

This CD is all of kid's best songs from his 1993 Polyfuze Method and the 1996 release E.M.S.P. Here's my review of all the songs: 1. N/A 2. American Bad Ass- probaly the best song on this CD. This is a mix of hard rock and some hip-hop 11/10 3. Prodigal Son- This song is alright. It contains alot of rock/soft rock. 9/10 4. Paid- This song is really good. It's alot of bounce style rap. 9.5/10 5. Early Mornin Stoned Pimp- A classic Kid Rock song. It's slow funk rap. Probaly the 2nd best song. 10/10 6. Dark & Grey- This song is all hard rock. It's alright, not my favorite though. 8.5/10 7. 3 sheets 2 the wind- A old-school rap song. Kid goes along with the flow real well in this song. 10/10 8. Abortion- This song isn't really what the title sounds like. It's a slow rock type song. 8/10 9. I Wanna Go Back- Alot of people don't like this song. I think it's great. It's all rap. 9/10 10. Ya' Keep On- Similar to "I Wanna Go Back". Once again a classic Kid song. Very nice beat. 10/10 11. F*#k That- Great rap/rock song. 3rd best on the CD. 9.5/10 12. F!!k U Blind- Very explicit lyrics. Nice beat though. 9/10 13. Born 2 Be A Hick- Hilarious rap song but a little banjo type theme 2 it. 8.5/10 14. My Oedipus Complex- This song doesn't relate to the title really. A good song that is slow rap but contains a rock type chorus. 10/10 There you have it. Hopefully you'll find my review helpful and get this Kid Rock CD.

I like his stuff that has mass appeal, but this album had too much of his own style. I regret asking another to buy it for me, and getting it.

I've listened to every song on this CD, and I love every one of them. I think Kid Rock is a musical genious, combining rap (Ya Keep On) with rock (Dark & Grey) with slow melodies (Abortion & My Oedipus Complex). Now, Kid Rock DOES cuss a lot on this CD, so be aware of that. All in all, enjoy a look into Kid Rock's past, and with for a successful future.

I think Kid Rock has worked hard for what he's acheived and that everyone should stop bitching about his lyrics and stuff. He was good enough to play on the Oscars, wasn't he? AND I AGREE WITH GRAFFIXX420: HIS CD KICKS ASS AND I RECOMMEND IT TOO.

I admit that some of Kid Rock's stuff is catchy, but the majority of it is a bunch of crap. He seems to appeal primarily to immature white teenagers who build up a deep well of frustration because they can't quite get comfortable with themselves or their role in society. That in itself might be healthy, but once you're better-adjusted, what's stopping you from moving on? The idiotic lyrics? The repetitive beats? The screeching, electronically-enhanced voice?

I am not so sure that this should be classified as a Rap CD - Kid Rock is definitely diversifying his musi a little to move out of this genre. He is a cross between many different types of music. The CD is what anyone familiar with his music would expect it to be. Nice picture of the Kid as a kid inside of the CD jacket.
