 | Sundiszno (30) 01/22/2005 | Pips Priller certainly did not score nearly as many kills as the cream of the crop, but for some reason I'm fascinated by this guy, mainly because he was the German fighter pilot portrayed in The Longest Day who essentially told his chain of command that they were totally screwed up and unrealistic. From what little I have read about him, this was a fairly accurate portrayal of his character and attitude. I read somewhere once that when he did make his pass over the Normandy beaches, he got a rousing cheer from the Allied forces on the beach just for having the cojones to fly over an area in which everyone and everything was shooting at him (and missing!). I'm not sure that the story is actually true, but it sounds like it might have happened. I believe that Pips passed away not too long ago.
