His solos, even at their most experemential, have a beautifully melodic smooth edge to them. Amazing musicianship by each member of the band, and melodies you can sing along to all day.

A Coltrane masterpiece and perhaps the best entry point into the music of this legend. No one can fail to dig the minor blues of the first track. Recorded after his initial apprenticeship with Miles but pre-dating his excursions into free jazz forms that can be hard work for the uninitiated. Definately give it a try. ps - check out the sidemen! CD rom version is interesting.

The best album to make sweet love to of all time. The album builds nice and slow with some reprieve now and again. The groove is devine.

I love John Coltrane. I have many of his CD's. Blue Train is a classic, but I honestly do not know why. He has much better music than this. I especially like his live performances, like live at the village vanguard.
