 | WKUK69 (0) 06/20/2008 | asskickin guitar riffs, screechin vocals and a super thick bass section, not to mention the diversity in songs and an album that produced several classics

 | Limpin' Trenchfoot (16) 01/09/2008 | Listening to this again after a long time it doesnt sound so good. The hits still stand up well but the rest of the album is just filler. To my ears Axl's vocals now just grate and the guitar solos are capable but predicatable. Not quite sure it desreves its seminal reputation

 | reaverto (4) 09/27/2007 | This was one of the first albums of that decade that took us in a direction away from hair metal (Warrant, Poison etc.), and was way more street-level and real and paved the way for grunge. The music still stands up today.

It's amaizing how something so rough can sound so amaizingly good. Every note seems to be in a perfect place, even when they are not perfect. I highly recomend this album to EVERYONE.

 | Guava Monkey (4) 04/30/2004 | A good album but some people are mistaken to think it's cutting edge. Just go and listen to early Aerosmith. Still, there are some classic cuts like 'Welcome..', 'Sweet child..' and the best hard rock tune of the 80's 'Paradise city'. There are also a couple of tracks that they could've dropped which would've made it a 5 star job.

 | kolby1973 (32) 03/07/2004 | The ONLY good CD that can be purchased by this rock band. The rest of their work is rarely worth listening to. But Appetite for Destruction is one of those albums that everyone should have in their CD collection for trips downs memory lane. Axl Rose sounds particularly good in Welcome to the Jungle, which is also their best song.

 | SieSterbenJetzt (0) 03/07/2004 | Appetite For Destruction..just great. This only recieves five stars because you can't go with 6, 10, or, as I would have it, 50. Oh, and just a thought:I saw several people mention songs not on A.P.F, or at least not on any version I've owned, November Rain and Patience being the two that come to mind right now. Some special edition or a mistake?

 | Jason1972 (3) 10/17/2002 | I never was a die-hard GNR fan. In fact, when this album came out in '87, I was so heavy into Led Zeppelin (ironically at 15 years old). But I have so much respect for this album as I heard it through other friend's stereo sets, so eventually got it myself. A.F.D. was a bullet to the head to all of the glam rock outfits that thought they were the band of all bands. GNR just exploded onto the scene and bascially said, "get the f*** off the stage with that makeup and spandex, here we are to kick some a**!" This album is to the 80's as Led Zeppelin IV was to the 70s. It was an album that turned rock over on its knee and it holds up well today.

 | UTVOLUSN (0) 03/28/2002 | Anybody who didn't give this album at least three stars should have their ears cut off so they can never listen to music again. How could any person believe that this is a bad album, okay isn't even really acceptable. Welcome to the Jungle, Night Train, My Michelle, Paradise City, Mr. Brownstone, and Sweet Child of Mine. No fan of rock can deny that these are great songs. If Welcome to the Jungle doesn't get your adrenaline pumping, you're probably dead so I can see why you don't care for this album too much.

 | ellajedlicka21 (5) 01/25/2002 | This is a very good album. Welcome to the Jungle, November Rain, and Sweet Child O' Mine are all really good songs. I never really expected such quality work from a group like Guns N' Roses. At the time, there was nothing like it. Probably the best album of '87-right up there with the Joshua Tree.

 | Computersrevil (0) 12/08/2000 | The reason I gave this album a 5 is that it is a classic rock n' roll album. It was, I believe, the second release of GN'R, and it opitimized the GN'R sound. Rough, edgy, hard and unapologetic. It made a lot of people angry, created controversy, and generally rocked.

 | Batman D.M. (0) 11/30/2000 | One of the greatest CDs for the 80's or 90's, Appetite has massive energy, great guitar hooks, melody, amazing guitar solos, and an edge. Definitely GNR's best CD. You can never get tired of listening to it. The energy of grunge, the kick ass of metal, the rebelion of rock and acutal musicianship.

 | haloflyer (0) 11/10/2000 | This is the first tape that I ever owned and I still stand by it. One of the most memorable bands, it is here to stay forever. With tracks like, "Welcome to the Jungle", "Paradise City", "Sweet Child of Mine" and many more, it's just great. If you like rock metal, you probably own it already. If you don't, what's wrong with you? Go get it!

 | crazytrain (0) 11/08/2000 | One of the best albums ever recorded. This is the best Guns N'Roses has to offer; their other albums are great as well, but this is by far the best. The album also has lots of diversity in its content. Definitely an album worth owning.

 | longhair (0) 11/03/2000 | This is an album that I've never gotten tired of. It's really raw and hungry and it stuck out like a sore thumb in the middle of all the polished glam rock of the time. This is an album that grooves like Aerosmith but has an attitude like the Sex Pistols. An absolute classic.

 | cam91 (0) 11/01/2000 | This album is also a classic. The best album that GNR came out with. It is the 1984 of 1990. All the songs are hard hitting from top to bottom. "Paradise City," "Patience," "Welcome to the Jungle" are all classics. This album put GNR on the map and it is still what's keeping their name there.

 | Sauceman (0) 11/01/2000 | The best of 80's metal and Guns N' Roses rolled into one. I have had this album since I was a little kid and still it's not old listening to. Tracks like, "Sweet Child o' Mine" and "Welcome to the Jungle" are classics. Other songs like, "Mr. Brownstone" and "Rocket Queen" are under appreciated.

 | mastamic (0) 10/30/2000 | Guns N' Roses is my favorite band ever. Axl Rose is a true Rock & Roll maniac. Their albums speak of so many different things: politics, race, love and hate, all real things in this world. Appetite is the best album they put out.
(4 voted this helpful, 0 funny and 0 agree) |
 | fred (0) 10/27/2000 | I think Axl Rose's voice is extremely annoying. I dislike the ideas promoted through their music/lyrics and lifestyle. They promote sexual indulgence and devalue what it means to be a person. Also, I find their music unoriginal and uninventive.

 | Shafty (2) 09/21/2000 | Whoa, how is this not in the Top 5 of all-time classic rock albums? There is something wrong with these ratings. You do not have to be a metal fan to love this record. I remember doing the Power Hour to this record during the summer following high school graduation. There are no bad songs out of the 12 or 13 offerred up by the band here. "Rocket Queen', 'Paradise city' and "Mr. Brownstone' are some of the best while the rest of the tracks follow as close seconds. The album reaks of raw energy and a unique hunger by a band that is rarely found on a circular piece of vinyl or plastic. So sad to see these guys burn out and get old, but it happens to the best of us I suppose. Axl did not need to lose his marbels though.

 | magellan (153) 08/18/2000 | This CD will get your adrenaline going if nothing else. From Paradise City, to Mr. Brownstone, to Sweet Child o Mine, this album really kicks ass. It brings back fond memories of drunken college rowdiness / agression... I'm not sure if i could listen to it now at age 31 (hence the 4 rating), but Appetite for Destruction was definitely a heavy hitter in its day.

 | Wiggum (16) 06/13/2000 | Normally I can't stand any music even approaching metal, but "Appetite for Destruction" is a different story. This CD was released when I was in high school, and I distinctly remember my friend's band covering "Sweet Child 'O Mine," which sounded so good at the time. Appetite for Destruction is full of great, loud, angry, beer bottle smashing music that I would probably hate if I heard today for the first time.

 | tyma6413om (0) 05/13/2000 | I'm giving it a five rating because this album belongs with the greats of all time. But, let's face it: It's really sad when a band peaks with their debut album and follows it up with the weak-assed Illusions. Sure, there were a few "decent" songs on the Illusions, but they were written during the Appetite time frame and didn't make the cut for Appetite. I think Axl and the boys knew they were a one trick pony. That's why they milked the spotlight while it was on them. Of course, taking the stance they've taken this past decade is only going to create a longing for them, but don't expect anything great. Sure, like everyone else, I'm gonna buy the new album (new members or original), but they will NEVER be able to top Appetite. It must suck to pass your prime before you even hit it.
