The last great Metallica album, everything they have done since has gotten progressively worse.

I am not a great Metallica fan because I am more into the hair band type of melody, but this album is great. Heavy guitars and decent vocals.

This is widely considered a classic master piece by anyone that has an IQ higher than a grilled cheese sandwhich. All the songs on the album deal with many issues, such as drug addiction, how soldiers are treated in war time, mental illness, the scandalious nature of certain religious figures and others. The only thing irrelevant and dated here is a particular persons reviews.

Terrific album. Metallica's best, without a doubt.

Let me tell you about Metallica. Before I begin, let me say this - I don't care if you are a die-hard Metallica fanatic or can't stand them - you absolutely CANNOT argue with what you are about to read. Facts are facts, baby. First off-this is the greatest Metallica album of all time. Hands down. Kill Em All was like nothing ever heard before and was great. Ride The Lightning showed lots of progression, but was a bit choppy. They sounded a little confused - like they knew where they wanted to go, they just had a hard time putting it together. Don't get me wrong - Ride The Lightning is still a great album, with the best song being Trapped Under Ice. Then came Master Of Puppets. After you hear Master Of Puppets, you appreciate Ride The Lightning more because you see the transition. You see that Ride The Lightning was the stepping stone to Master. Master Of Puppets is not only the greatest Metallica album of all time, but one of the greatest metal albums of all time. Next came ...And Justice For All. Another great album, but not better than Master. Then something happened - something called castration. Metallica became a bunch of f*ggots. The black album is one of the biggest disgraces and slaps in the face to true metallica fans and metal in general. And it all went downhill from there - and quickly. Looking back, you take a line like "the show is through, the metal's gone it's time to hit the road. Another town, another gig, again we will explode. Motel rooms and motor ways, life out here is raw. BUT WE'LL NEVER STOP, WE'LL NEVER QUIT, 'CUZ WE'RE METALLICA!" from Whiplash on Kill Em All and you just have to shake your head. They did stop and they did quit. They became f*ggot wh*res for the money and the fame. Poor, poor metallica. But, man...Master Of Puppets, nearly 20 years later, is still phenomenal.

This was when Metallica was good.

How can people not like Metallica, their riffs are so frigging awesome and energizing, some people just dont know decent music, Metallica kick major ass!!

An unrivalled masterpiece of ground-breaking hard, heavy yet wonderfully melodic metal that will forever stand the test of time. The opening song 'Battery' lulls you into a false sense of what might be, before sending your heart beat into three figures quicker than chronic diarrhoea. Master of Puppets is doubtless my favourite song that effortlessly keeps me entertained, with the variety of riffs, compelling solos and speedy precision all so magnificently orchestrated into an 8 plus minute track that never feels like it's been playing for that long! Even my non-metal friends appreciate this truly awe-inspiring work. Forever a Metallica fan.

Forgetting about all that Napster biz and that iffy documentary, 'MoP' is a classic album of the whole rock genre not just metal. In the 80s hard rock was all about blokes dressing up as hookers and ripping off Stones riffs. Then Metallica and other thrash bands came along and blew all that sh*t away..before grunge.

THE BEST METALLICA ALBUM SO FAR. Every tune on this disc is awsome, and much like 'the Black Album' and 'Kill em' All', it flows like an album should. A lot of Metallica's best songs are on here 'Battery,' 'the title track,' 'The Thing That Should Not Be,' 'Disposeable Heroes,' and 'Danage Inc.' This is the album where James' voice is finally perfect all the way through. By far, it's also one of Metallica's best instrumentally. Kirk's most crisp solos are on here. This is an album that every metalhead should have in their collection.

A great albulm. The track MOP has more great riffs contained on one song than most metal bands come up with on an entire albulm. Ive always prefered And Justice for All though as Metallica's best. AJFA had more diversity and complexity, and Ride The Lighning broke more ground in recording. But this is regarded as their Masterpeice, and when you hear Disposible Hero's or Battery it makes sense. But,If you want a truely classic metal albulm invest in 'Beneath The Remains' - Sepultura or 'Human' - Death ;)

Awesome album! "Damage Inc." is probably the fastest song ever made. Songs like "Battery", "Master Of Puppets", and "Welcome Home (Sanitarium)" really make this CD stand out as one of the greatest albums in metal history! Keep it up Metallica your doin great!

Can't say I care for Metallica

this was the one album where it sounded like they blended together especially with ORION what I consider to be their masterpeice on a level equal to the powerful ONE from ..and Justice For All, the music reaches inside you and flows through your veins.

Metallica is a great band. This album has many great hits. The music is very assertive(loud ballads), and the songs make sense. Although the music is hard(guitar distortion, thrash metal), the lyricist's voice is almost soothing. Very audible in that you can understand the words and feelings behind the songs.

This is my favorite Metallica album. I think it is by far their best CD and I have been following the band and their changes since they began. The songs are great. It is best to listen to it loud and when you don't have a headache!

This CD is a waste of time and money. Metallica-What a stupid move of theirs turning in over 300,000 of their fans. Pirated or not, their songs use to stand for freedom of speech and it is ironic that they-who got their popularity through underground bootlegging-are now turning on the system they rose from. Metallica proves not to be the "Master of Puppets" but puppets themselves to a giant RIA industry.

"This was Metallica when they were hard core Metallica." This amazing CD is heavy metal with melody. A great combination of the two, this album highlights Metallica's songwriting abilities with speed demon riffs and double bass pedal. Much deeper and thoughtful than the gut metal of "Kill 'em All," yet more edge than "Metallica" (the black album". This was one of Metallica's greatest efforts before their sad demise into pop culture in the mid 90's.

Probably the best Metallica CD. "Master of Puppets" the song is the best Metallica song. A classic no metal fan can pass on.

Easily the best Metallica album. Back when they were still metal, and not this trendy crap they are now.

Metallica when they still had Cliff Burton on bass. Now Metallica is doing that S&M, load BS. They used to be "the" metal band, now they are money making corporate BS.

By far the best Metallica song in my mind. A song that is very fast and entertaining. With this song you get a true sound of what heavy metal is about.

This CD was the best Metallica had. I miss the way the lead singer used to yell and scream in his songs like he did in this CD. They need to go back to the "play as fast as you can" kind of music.

This was a very high energy album. The guitars were intense, but one song(the instrumental) was soothing and very melodic. The only thing is that James Hetfield's voice wasn't as refined as in other albums.

Master of Puppets is an amazing album. There are some incredible passages in the album. Some of the best music ever written in this genre.

Awesome CD! Metallica is great, especially their older stuff, I don't really like their newer stuff.

This is THE metal album. Metallica invented thrash metal and perfected it with this album. The hunger and energy were still there but they were able to harness it into incredible, classically influenced pieces of art. Nobody has matched it since.

Ride the Lightning and And Justice for All were markedly better albums. If I hear 92.3 KSJO play the title track one more F_ing time I will physically assult the nearest Metallica fan.

If you are a Metallica fan this CD is the one to get. It brings an array of fast, heavy riffs to classical riffs. If you like old Metallica this CD is great for heavy metal fans. This CD stays true to metal.

Innovation, origionality, pure raw aggressive jams.All these trademark qualities distinguish Metallica as the greatest band of all time. Although I think their a bunch of catchrags at the moment,you cant change history.

Outstanding song that exemplifies the early greatness of Metallica. One of their best albums with binge and purge.

This CD took a long time to make, which made the quality that much better. The diversity of the music in this CD was incredible. This was their last great CD.

Metallica's raw, hard, fast energy is alive in this album with amazing solos.

Although these guys have pissed me off lately, I have to say this is still one of my all time faves!!

This and "Ride the Lightning" are a great rock and roll legacy for arguable the best "Heavy Metal" musician ever in Cliff Burton. I don't listen to each new release anymore, but this album and its predecessor are the best examples of this genre outside of ST. Maybe better, because they managed to reach a larger audience . . .

Why did this band survive the eighties, while other similarly crappy metal bands faded away into well-deserved obscurity?
