By this point,Metallica was a mere shell of what they once were.

I agree with the guy below me, if you are a Metallica fan then you would know that the "Black Album" was definatly the last good album."Load" sucks and so does all the others past that album. However, i happen to think that "Nothing Else Matters" wasn't THAT bad of a song, but it did kinda symbolize the downfall to come. There is only one Metallica song that i enjoy from "Garage Inc." and that is the Bob Seager cover they did called "Turn The Page". The original is a great song and i think that Metallica did it justice...so theres my opinion

THE LAST GOOD ALBUM. A real Metallica fan would know this. I hope for a better day when they stop evolving into fuckin pussy pop rock bullshit. The old metallica is the good metallica. I absolutely love every, single, song on this album. But... as a hard core heavy metal band, Nothing Else Matters made them seem comepletely pussy. Its when your preppy sister asks you if she can borrow your metallica cd, that is when you wonder... is metallica going soft?

i do own it but only because it was free i was a metallica fan before this and probably for a while after this until the next album(which had a part 2$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$)the metallica that once was had gone forever but when this came out it was o.k. but nothing special (bon jovi's been doin it for 20 years)before this c.d. those two bands would have never been in the same sentance, i need say no more.

You know what 90% of the people who gave this album a good rating say about it? "I WASN'T EVEN A METALLICA FAN when I got this, but liked Enter Sandman so bought it and fell in love with Metallica". Exactly. Any REAL Metallica fan knows this is 100% USDA Certified Cow Dung. Can anyone say...SELL OUT???

Some top tracks here like Enter Sandman and Sad but True. Let down a bit by the ballads which clearly are here to cater for people who only ever listen to the Top 40.

Metallica are what's bad about rock- a prefabricated hard band. They absolutely suck.

I did buy this, and loved it! But now I just can't stand metallica. They can get on your nerves when you are trying to concentrate. Maybe heavy metal just isn't my thing 100% of the time.

For some unknown reason, I got this album in the Fall of '91 and I wasn't even a Metallica fan but I liked "Sandman", but even when the song ended, I kept the play button engaged and listened to the rest. Boy was I blown away by those power riffs!

The end of the line for the band. They have stunk ever since.

One of my fav. albums of all time. It is so heavy! There is not one bad song on the whole CD! For all you people who are still wining over Napster, I Think you people should get a life. They are the kings and nobody can bring them down!

this album was alot more recognised for the Enter Sandman track but instead of people believing they'd become mainstream I believe that more people opened their eyes to metallicas talent. Many of these song contained the old style and added a few new sounds the guitar solo in My Friend of Misery has familiar artistic sounds similar to that on War of the Worlds

This album is often referred to as the black album...there is nothing dark about it. For once it is actual singing instead of just yelling on key. This is metal for the non-metal enthusiast.

How can words give justice to one of the best CD's ever made. This CD appeals to every emotion. If you don't own this CD you are really missing a piece of music history. This CD is a mixture of hardcore rock and soft love songs but it is put together in a way which is completely ingenious.

This is a CD that should be owned by all. On this disc, Metallica demonstrates their amazing musical talent. It can easily be listened to all the way through without skipping any songs. I always listen to it when I need a little energizer, it has high energy, and many great Metallica songs on it.

A must have for any rock CD collection. Metallica has been cranking out hits for years, and will continue to. The only reason I didn't rate it higher is because of their stand on Napster.

This is where Metallica starts going downhill. Metallica starts changing their sound. Last six songs are more of what they sound like.

This is my favorite Metallica CD, because it shows their original style. Metallica has definitely changed over the years but, this contains some of the most classic songs.

Metallica is a great band but I lost my respect for them after the whole thing with Napster, which is why I gave them a two.

Metallica is awesome. It's got all the basic classics on one CD. I like the solo's and I like James Hetfield's voice. It's got good angry music, but good ballads at the same time.

A total classic. Displayed range of talent. This album was hard hitting but still musical. I liked the toned down metal sound that wasn't too watered down.

This CD is great because it contains heavy, slow riffs which still stay true to heavy metal. If you like old Metallica this is their best CD, because they really changed with Load. This black album is worth it.

Another one of the best albums ever. One of the only pure rock albums ever. Totally what Rock & Roll is all about- power, chaos and adrenalin.

Well, for new MTV Metallica fans, this is your metal porno band to jerk off to. For fans from the 1980s like me, this album represents the loss of heaviness, thanks to Bob Rock and Jason Newsted. F*ck Metallica 2000!

This music to me is sould searching and brings the dark side to the light. I really enjoy the pulsating strums and the soothing melodies. The lyrics are great with awesome meaning and flavor.

now that their music is off Napster (which is great), all we need now is to get their albums out of record stores. . .
