Ground zero for Punk Rock, there were anticedents and influences on the type of music on the only Pistols album but this is the definative document of the classic period. Listen to it today and it doesn't sound as raw and awful as it did in 1977 (1976?) but it was the template for the form and you still hear it echo in the so-called punk of today.

People might discredit the Pistols becuase of their short life-span. But this is album that defined punk. I mean, when anyone thinks about 'punk', the Sex Pistols is just inseperable. Particularly, Sid Viscous and Johnny Rotten - it just goes hand-in-hand.

Good, but not as good as the Ramones.

This album is a dreadful pleasure. If you are a fan of rock'n'roll history, you should at least listen to this album. It is a major influence on punk and alterna-rock. . .It was a great college drinking album although I must admit it doesn't leave my shelf and find itself into my player the older I get. . .

I remember buying this the day it came out at HMV (think) in London... Totally not me - but fun to listen to when you're drunk... definately one for the ages, and to shock your granny with.

The 4 singles here are great but the rest is sh*te filler if truth be told. Not the classic as all those w*nky critics at 'Rolling Stone', 'NME','Q' etc would have you believe.

SO IMPORTANT!!! The album was poorly recorded, the songs all sucked, even the hit God Save the Queen apparently was only added as an afterthought. But isn't that what punks all about? Although in and of itself, this album is a piece of s**t, it was a key that opened many, many important doors.

Most powerful album ever.

ok part of the punk thing was being able to play and all that with out having to get signed by a record lable and have your music controlled by them. And that any one could have a band. Anyone could play and any one could do anything no matter how bad you sucked. And there would be no one to decide if you sucked or not. Yeah thats not explained how i wanted to explain it but you get my point i hope. Oh and i do think that the sex pistols had talent.

It does not deserve the accolades it receives. Nevermind the Bollocks is just a CD with mediocre quality filled with teenage angst and defiance. I put it a little above a Limp Bizkit album because of its mood. "Anarchy in the U.K." is still not a great song, so it gets a 2 from me.

this cd is the schiznits! i love it!

The Pistols are the fathers of Punk. Bollock's was an awesome album, despite the fact Johnny Rotten couldn't sing and Sid's previous bass experience was playing to a Ramones album for 3 hours they pulled off an amazing feat. The Pistols may not have invented Punk perse, but they defineatly brought it to where it is today.Too bad they were more into chaos than rock n roll though.

The Sex Pistols were the greatest punk band ever.!!! They mostly sang about things that meant something. If you are a fanatic punk rocker you should have this in your collection as with all the other Sex Pistols albums. Sid Vicious, Johnny Rotten, Glen Matlock and Paul Cook made a great punk group probably the best then, now and in years to come. Although Never mind the Bollocks wasn't the best album it is one that you need for your punk rock collection.
mukkrukkis 03/16/2001
*Sid Vicious is my hero!* The Sex pistols are the greatists. They were nonconforming, and I respect that! This album was there best! It was very political, and high quality! Sid was innocent!
Farmer ED 01/10/2001
OK, so maybe they are responsible for starting the whole punk thing, but who cares? This album is still horrible. Sid Vicious can't even play the bass. Spikey hair and dog collars do not give a band talent. Don't waste your time.

How the hell the Sex Pistols ever got credit for the whole punk genre is beyond me. Johnny Rotten sucks ass. The only good song is, of course, Anarchy in the UK, but if you want real good punk/ska, try Velvet Underground or Operation Ivy with some Vandals mixed in...oh yeah and the Dead Kennedy's are good too.
miko 01/10/2001
Never Mind the Bollocks is the epitomy of punk rock. Johnny Rotten is awesome, as is Sid Vicious. The Sex Pistols helped create an entire genre of music.

I thought the Sex Pistols had no real talent, but I think that they had a lot to do with the beginning of the punk era. One of the reasons I think people liked them is because of their attitude and their experience.
crackles 11/10/2000
I used to love them so much, but now they are so old and boring. Old bands like the Dead Kennedy's and Minor Threat should have good recognition.
dbj12 10/20/2000
If you like classic punk rock then this album is a must. It has almost all the songs you'll find on their other four records.
mfluty 10/19/2000
I feel this album, although not the original punk, captured what true punk is all about: speaking your mind and being completely honest with yourself. Also this album shook up England as well as the US when they toured behind it.

...this and the white album are the pinnacle of recorded music...........
