I haven't listened to this album in years. . .it's buried in the bottom shelf of CD's, but Paranoid is a very good and underrated album.

SO IMPORTANT!!!! Would heavy metal have even existed were it not for these brave lads? Hard to say, but it certainly wouldn't have been as epic were it not for these guys.

It's ironic how this song was made only to take up space but instead became a classic and one of Sabbath's best known songs.

Black Sabbath are the most overrated band of all time. They are the worst imitation of Cream I have ever heard in my life. Their music is loud, noisy, and unintelligible. Ozzy Osborne gives every garage band singer relief as the garage band singers can all outsing this dolt, the worst vocalist in the history of all rock.

Remember the days when eight decent tracks made a great album? Good example here.

Not their best, but still a very good sophmore effort. Hand Of Doom, Fairies Wear Boots, Paranoid & Electric Funeral are Sabbath at their height. Their self-titled debut & Volume 4 are far beeter as a whole, but, again, this a real classic. Geezer Butler was a very underrated lyricist.

The definition of a rock/metal band: Black Sabbath. The definition of a rock/metal album: Paranoid. In just twelve days and without studio gimmicks, the good old boys from Sabbath one of the most brillantly pieces of music ever made. War Pigs, Iron Man, Paranoid, Electric Funeral: the names of the songs themselves say greatness. All the kings studio wizards, and all the kings studio gimmicks of modern day couldn't come close to making a masterpiece like this again.

Who's to know what the face of heavy metal would be like without this band in the history of rock and roll. The two words probably wouldn't be synonymous with music. These guys should be forever remembered, even after they leave us.

Another Sabbath classic!! I would play the 8 track over and over again! I would wake up to it for God's sake! Totally original and one of the best, if not the best, Sabbath albums!

How can anyone not appreciate the full blown rock classic "Paranoid," even with judgements of Ozzie? This is a CD you want to blast while driving in your car, racing people at stoplights, from Iron Man to Paranoid, the band kicks ass!

I think this album came out in 1970, heavy rock had only recently appeared with likes of Cream & Led Zep, and then Black Sabbath arrived with their eponymous debut album, which I think is pretty good. However, 'Paranoid' is a really, really great metal album. Not surprisingly, it's mostly just classic metal tracks such as 'Iron Man', 'War Pigs', 'Hand of Doom', 'Electric Funeral' etc., & there's also the instrumental jam 'Rat Salad' which is great fun.Probably the most unexpected cut is 'Planet Caravan' which I think is brilliant in every respect - the music, the guitar, the vocals - all conjure up great imagery & make for quite a haunting song especially amidst the rest. That's not to say the heavier tracks aren't good, in fact they're great, the band are having a blast creating the heaviest, baddest most doom-laden sound around at the time - listening to these makes you realise that all metal bands since owe a lot to this band, and most of it to this album.

This album changed metal forever. It brought the heavy pulsing guitar work of Tommy Iommi to the world and opened the door for grunge rock.
