 | GobTheHotCop (3) 10/26/2005 | This was a good debut album, finally a band with some heart & not hairspray.

 | numbah16tdhaha (147) 10/20/2005 | None of the current rap-metal trend would have happened without Rage Against the Machine. I wish the imitators were half as good as this one.

 | Djahuti (54) 10/20/2005 | Killer album, nobody before or after has blended rap and metal with such finesse.Combine that with their fearless & in your face lyrics, and five stars is the LEAST they deserve.I saw them live at Lollapalooza, and they were dynamic.

 | bmf940 (0) 10/19/2005 | Rage doesn't get the props that they deserve for being one of the first bands to blend rap and hard rock. They weren't one of the MTV favorites, because alot of their videos had political messages that were deemed to controversial. Most of the time you'd have to catch their video late at night. Tom Morello is perhaps the best guitarrist of the latter decade, because of his unique style and ability to create some of the most outlandish sounds out of a guitar. Timmy C. is an excellent bassist and Brad Wilk was the perfect drummer. Zach De la Rocha, was the last piece in the equation. His political lyrics served with the hard rock sounds of the band, made for excellent listening and also enlightening experience. The first album is their best and every song is worth a listen.

 | hotel283 (20) 06/28/2004 | No talent, no musical skills, despite their political music, clearly had no grasp of politics or current events. Another MTV favorite with their radio friendly songs and TV friendly videos. Aren't political bands supposed to be controversial? I guess it doens't help when your target audience is wannabe whiteboys from the burbs whose universe doesn't extend past the mall.

 | Guava Monkey (4) 04/30/2004 | Just wondering how many people giving low votes here are Republican and don't like RATM's politics. When this album came out it was like a breath of fresh air in a room fetid with the stench of corporate AOR. I can see rap metal isnt to everyone's taste and can sound a bit samey but at least it has energy and is trying to make a point.

 | hooker (0) 08/05/2003 | uhh. all their songs sound exactly alike. and it seems to me that the only people that listen to it are rich kids from the suberbs that think they are being cool because they listen to rock and die their hair pink. Even though none of them really know what good music is. That band makes me want to puke.

 | kyes (0) 10/15/2001 | This album came out when I hit 14. It was perfect for a depressed, angst-ridden teenager who was ready to rebel against anything "grown-up" and "establishment". Now that I'm closer to actually being a grown-up, having spent 3 years on among the super-saturated, daydreaming, stretched-liberal groanings of an Art College, my views have changed. I think you can appreciate a charmed life and the society that gave it to you without being a sellout. While I agree that the sound on this album rocks, the pissing and moaning get to be a little ridiculous.

 | Springsteen80sbaby (1) 06/23/2001 | I'm not too incredibly fond of bands relying on rage to propell them, social criticms and romance entice me instead!

 | SSIILL (0) 05/19/2001 | As pleasant as surgery without anesthesia. That's nice these junior "revolutionaries" wanna write different music. How about writing some good music as well?....P.S.-Why don't these punks also shut up enough so we can hear the 1 percent (at best) of quality solutions they might have. P.S.S.-Why don't these fine young men attend one of their Uncle Ted Nugent's summer camps? Maybe for a start they could just go to one of his concerts. Either way, they would learn something.

 | Human condition (0) 01/30/2001 | Rage Against the Machine's first album is brilliantly performed (without the aid of electronic synthesizers) and contains strong, socially conscious messages. If you want to get educated and hear some of the best guitar playing since Hendrix, I highly recommend this album.

 | Setho the kid (0) 01/08/2001 | This album brought the voice of Protest against the government and the status quo to mainstream music, and it did this with a power and fury that grabbed the attention of the press, politicians, and young people everywhere. This lyrically intelligent album features a powerful rhythm section, a brilliant guitarist (Tom Morello) and the powerful, angry, insisting voice of Zach Delarocha. Their sound is amazing, their message compelling.

 | Ctyota Blue (0) 12/11/2000 | Rage is one of the best bands out there in the music business. This CD is their first CD that they had. It's raw and unhinered by what the music companies dictate. Rage follows and does what they believe in and this CD was the stepping stone to help them get to where they are now.

 | Skater4Life (1) 11/27/2000 | A breakthrough CD for the band. They made their presence known in the industry. They also have a cool CD cover. They also put on a good live show.

 | Bahar (0) 11/20/2000 | I have the CD, but I don't really like them too much. It seems like all their songs that are on the radio are really played out and their other songs all sound the same.

 | HFroehlich (0) 11/20/2000 | Rage Against the Machine is still as great as it was when it came out. The whole band is genius together. Each member of the band has such distinct qualities, including the vocalist. Their rap/hardcore rock sets a new sound that many bands today are trying to copy, but only Rage can make it sound great.

 | HoCheezy (0) 11/17/2000 | My favorite of the Rage albums. The most politically relevant too. Not to mention the hardest. Zach De La Rocha's loudest scream is recorded at the end of Wake Up. If you're going to buy a Rage CD, forget the new one and buy this.

 | Fluke (0) 11/17/2000 | This is the first Rage CD and it's pretty good too. With tracks like, Know Your Enemy and Bullet in the Head, this is a must have.

 | Blainediggitybling (0) 11/16/2000 | This CD is the only one of theirs that I like. They have sold out and they have yet to do something new. Zac delaRocha used to sing in a hardcore band, Inside Out.

 | mwoodcox (0) 11/14/2000 | Rage is a pretty good band. I think it's cool that they are a political band and their lyrics are political too. I also think it's good for a band to have a lot of energy.

 | kali6 (0) 11/03/2000 | Well, Rage Against the Machine are a very interesting band because of their political songs. They touch on a lot of issues such as human rights. They have a stand that is very distinct. If you take the time to listen to what they are trying to say, you will be surprised. I know that the lead singer has a PHD in Sociology (or something like that).
