Could be the best soundtrack of all time. Didn't see the movie until a couple of years ago and was dumbfounded by how good it was and realized the Bee Gees did the whole soundtrack, which has to be the ultimate soundtrack accomplishment.

All soundtrack lists start with Saturday Night Fever (released in 1977). No other soundtrack affected popular culture as much as this one, as the music and the film brought the disco subculture out of the gay underworld and into the mainstream, and the tracks are still played today. Whether you hate disco, love it, or are indifferent, no one can deny that this release was a landmark in music history. Of course, the soundtrack starts with the contributions by the Bee Gees. The group had already written the core songs (eg Stayin' Alive, How Deep Is Your Love, and Night Fever) as well as some that were eventually recorded by other artists for the film (eg If I Can't Have You and More Than A Woman) when the movie's producer Robert Stigwood asked the trio to contribute the songs to the film. Throw in a few pre-recorded Bee Gees' classics (eg Jive Talking), add some additional immortals tracks (eg the Trammps' Disco Inferno), and finally mix in a few period songs and instrumentals (eg Walter Murphey's A Fifth Of Beethoven) and one has a perfect snapshot of the disco era and the biggest selling soundtrack in history (though The Bodyguard passed it at one time, at least in terms of revenue).

Sure disco is now a laughable genre (to some) but you have to admit the sheer force that this soundtrack had when it took over the airwaves, tape decks and record players at the time could not be ignored. It's a guilty pleasure album.

Saturday Night Fever is a classic and anyone who likes having fun will admit to that. So what if it's disco, that doesn't mean it's bad music. Funk was nothing like rock and that wasn't attacked like so called disco music was. The great thing is that disco is alive. There are so many new albums around the world like Jamirouqui, Spice Girls, Anastacia, Brand New Heavies, S Club 7, Spiller, plus dozens more who have had disco hits in Europe over the last seven years. So don't be ignorant when reviewing this album and give it a rating it deserves LIKE FIVE STARS!!!!!!

This was a great album, whether you like disco or not. That opening to Staying Alive has been used countless times as strutting music on tv and in the movies.

Over the years I've heard the entire collection of disco reeks remarks but the fact remains - historically, disco was a legitimately red hot dance craze once upon a time. (Hey, I never listened to rap either but still see the hypnotic rhythmic attraction others might have for it.) The problem is that it was so over the top and off the main road that people had fun with it for a while but got tired of it REALLY fast. I'll shamelessly admit that, for about 5 minutes of my youth, I enjoyed dancing to this thumpty thump stuff and NOBODY did it better than the Bee Gees on this album. In years to come music history classes will no doubt refer to the Saturday Night Fever soundtrack as the collection of songs that best sums up this short lived, fairly screwy but enjoyable era in dance and questionable clothing styles.

I think this is one of the best albums, soundtrack or regular album. It has such a great variety of styles and artists. Is there any surprise this album has sold 10 million copies?! Of course the Bee Gees are simply great, and almost a quarter century later, I can still get up and dance to "Night Fever" and "Stayin' Alive." I also really like the Yvonne Elliman song "If I Can't Have You, " written by the BGs and "More Than a Woman" by the Tavares. The album has a nice mixture of Latin salsa, funk, pop and R&B, which are all the basic ingredients of great disco music. I don't care if it's campy, I'd rather listen to "SNF" any day over today's crappy ass music!

This is a display of the horrible movement called disco in the late '70s. This is the complete opposite of rock and roll. I despise this crap.

The Bee Gees contributions to this album have received praise from all spectrums of the music world. From Alice Cooper to George Martin to Tim Rice. Visit www.beegees.dk/regular.htm#newsingle to hear their new single "This Is Where I Came In". It's nothing like you've heard from the Bee Gees before. I'd give THAT song 5 stars.

I have to skip quite a few tracks in this CD, but it's worth it for Stayin' Alive and the re-mix of Beethoven's 5th (is it the 5th or 9th?). You can get your good ole'70's groove on with picks from this Bee-Gee's sampler.

Excellent party music. Great mix of dance and slow songs. Although it may be retro, it's still a blast to listen to. Also great at social events.

Your friends may rip on your for digging this artifact. But hey, some of the songs on here, like "If I Can't Have You," is so campy yet so fun. Worth noting: "Night on Bad Mountain" is great warm up music for any sports team.

The "Saturday Night Fever Soundtrack" is awesome! Even those not from that generation can really appreciate the music. The soundtrack is a classic and the whole soundtrack is good and easily enjoyed, not just one track.

This bit of seventies nostalgia evokes images of John Travolta boogying in tight bell bottoms. And the sounds of "Staying Alive," will liven up any disco party. It pays homage to polyester and disco balls, showing just how extreme and strange pop culture can be.

It was the last disco album. It represents a generation. All the songs in the soundtrack are great. It inspires new artists. They also have very romantic songs.

The Bee Gees were a once in a lifetime band. Aside from KC and the Sunshine Band, they are the quintessential band that defined the 70's disco era. Also, very rarely does a band basically compliment all of a movie's story and musical themes in a soundtrack.

One of the most exciting albums ever made. The Bee Gees definetly make this album. All of their albums are superbly made, but this one was a landmark. The staying power of this music and the film only re-inforce the legendary status of the Bee Gees.

The time was right. The energy was high. The Bee Gees were IT! Riding high on a wave success in the mid 70's, The Bee Gees created perfection on this album. The fact that Barry Gibb delved into R&B with his falsetto proves that not only are the Bee Gees outstanding writers, but incredible singers in natural or falsetto harmonies.

Definetly a classic album. Any album that can create such a cultural phenomenon is a classic. The Bee Gees crafted the perfect soundtrack for a generation. But dont forget about their pre-disco music, which was also excellent.

Fab 70's variety. Good source for classic 70's: Stayin' Alive, Disco Inferno, More Than a Woman. Funky, funny and sexy songs you may not have heard, too, such as Salsation! Guaranteed the rhythm is going to get you.

This is a fantastic CD. What other band can claim the honor of having such fantastic success. Stayin Alive was the unofficial anthem of the decade! I do wish there were other Bee Gee albums on the list, they have had a top ten hit in each of the past four decades, to have this be the only one is sad.
