 | AEnzhRu (4) 02/15/2007 | It's hard for me to admit now-a-days but back in the '80s, like a lot of other people I also thought that Michael Jackson was really cool and to an extent I even (*gulp*) idolized him.
Although he's become too eccentric of a person for my tastes...and dresses to effeminately as well, I've always listened to music just for the sake of music and still do (not because I like or dislike a musician based on their personality, lifestyle, or sexual preference). That being said, I still think that Thriller is one of the greatest albums of all time, whether it had ended up being a total commercial disaster or whether it went multi-platinum. It's easily whacko-Jacko's best album (significantly better than "Off The Wall"), there are very few mediocre songs (much less filler) and the entire album, even today, is very grooving and fresh. A great combination of funk, R&B, and pop, Thriller is not dated and still a great album.

 | clarermo (0) 09/30/2005 | As everyhthing Michael Jackson does this record is overrated. I will never understand his success.

 | jf215 (0) 07/22/2005 | Michael Jackson's SECOND best album (Off the Wall is better). Best selling album of all time. Revolutionized music. 7 out of the 10 songs on the album were in the billboard top 10. And the videos were just as good. Personally, I think PYT, Beat It, and Billie Jean are the best songs on the album.

A great album that merged r and b, rock, and soul in expert fashion.

 | spirit510 (0) 05/29/2004 | This album was very good at the time it was released. The songs were basically written to showcase the videos. Think about it...everytime you have heard the song Thriller, you had to think about the video at the same time. Same for Billie Jean, same for Beat It. Nothing wrong with that. But I don't think the songs by themselves could have done as well without the videos. Now that should be true for everyone but actually it's not. How well did some of Stevie Wonder's classics (Innervisions, Songs in the Key of Life-album of the year, which he actually won 5 grammys for-without videos, mind you, etc.) do without videos? Answer: excellently! On the pop charts as well as R & B charts. Michael is no Stevie but he an amazing performer to watch as well as listen to (well, back in the day that is). Thriller gets an OK-3 stars just because the songs are a tad forgettable without the videos to accompany them.

 | Rufieo30us (0) 02/23/2004 | This is my #1 favorite Album of alltime! Michael is still the king of pop in spite of what has been happening to him in court. This album will never be topped by anyone else, that is how great and how awsome this album is. Who could ever forget the great BEAT IT, how woudl Thriller be great without BILLIE JEAN. It was the right time and a great moment for Michael Jackson.

 | ShockingBlue (1) 11/03/2002 | Who am I to argue with the 47 million people who bought this album and made it the best-selling album of all time? Some of the songs still hold up will today, from a nostalgic point of few. Some of them were annoying in the first place. But its a classic, plain and simple, so it gets four stars.

 | lukskywlkr. (3) 10/24/2002 | What short memories people have. I know his personal life is a whole different can or worms, but this album stands as the flagstone for eighties pop music. With Quincy Jones at the producing chair, Michael Jackson turns in one great performance after another. Beat It, Billie Jean, The Girl Is Mine, Human Nature, 7 top ten singles off an album that just had nine songs in the first place. That, at the time, was unheard of. This thing sold over 40 million worldwide and is the best selling album of all time.

 | ellajedlicka21 (5) 10/19/2001 | It is a good album from MJ. Some of his really good ones are on this. Not spectacular, however.

 | MedgarEvers (14) 06/13/2001 | So THIS is why everyone says Mr. Jackson is so good. The album is genuinely quality music. A friend burned it for me. "Wanna Be Startin' Somethin'," "Human Nature," and "Billie Jean" are all favourites of mine. Sure, it gets corny at times, but I like it. Good instrumentation, classic voice, it's funky, it's fun.

 | MorrisTigerson (0) 05/21/2001 | Obivously the greatest album ever made... HOW CAN YOU ARGUE!?? ITS PRACTICALLY LIKE A GREATEST HITS ALBUM!! I MEAN ITS INCREDIBLE JUST TO HAVE BEAT IT, THRILLER, and BILLIE JEAN attributed to you, but on one CD!?? thats incredible!! ALL OF THE SONGS ON THIS ALBUM ARE CLASSICS

 | Computersrevil (0) 12/08/2000 | A classic! His best. The pinacle of Michael Jackson's musical career, when he was still cool. Everybody grew up with him and his music still can't be duplicated. Billy Jean, Thriller, so many classics!

 | chrise (0) 11/27/2000 | Thriller was a cool song because he danced very cool in the video. I think Michael is very cool because he is very unique. He sings his own songs and makes them up himself.

 | dskobunny (0) 11/17/2000 | I gave Thriller a great rating because Michael's got the songs, and the moves. Thriller was probably one of his all time greatest hits out of all his songs. He's truly a legend in music.

 | Ruby (15) 11/03/2000 | Sure, "Wanna Be Startin Something" rules. True, "PYT" is catchy as hell. But the title track and "The Girl is Mine" are both weak. Moreover, there's no great lyric on this one that just sums up the Michael phenomenon the way that he did in the 70s with this one: "I'm full of funky fever/ A fire burns inside me/ The boogie's got me in a super-trance." (from "Blame it on the Boogie")

 | chronic (0) 11/02/2000 | I don't care what anyone says, Michael Jackson was the man. Although I love the previous "Off the Wall" album, Motown still produced the funky "Thriller" album. For years the best selling album, the title track was number one for weeks. I think the songwriting is very intelligent and Michael Jackson really makes a song have life and energy. Good album. Great.

 | Sauceman (0) 11/01/2000 | A true classic. Put aside what a freak Michael is and this is still one of the best album's ever. 'Thriller' tops the list of hits, but 'Human Nature' is my personal favorite. This is a CD that will never get old.

 | redding (0) 10/12/2000 | M. Jackson's voice is fabulous on this, second only to his Jackson 5 days. Almost every song here is very enjoyable: P.Y.T., Billie Jean, Thriller. A must-have, even if you think he is too freaky as a person. As a singer, he's great.
