Century Tire Company 1

the basic principle of a company taking advantage of a woman and then doing a "do you know who I am" routine on the ex-husband makes me crazy since he insults the very nationality stereotype I strive to avoid being an Italian.
This is my ex-wife's account before she found out that the car had also been damaged! Reasons to dispute the charges from Century Tire Peabody, Mass:(1) That Century Tire got no phone authorization and provided incorrect information and without full disclosure;(2) That Century Tire insisted and did unnecessary replacement against the owners clear instruction of NOT to replace anything and put old parts back as it was (3) That Century Tire insisted and did unnecessary replacement against Ms Xs wishes.
(4) That Century Tire replaced parts without full disclosure and consent taking advantage and placing her in fear by their demeanor.(5) Ms X was in fear of Century Tire so against her will she paid the full price. In the morning of April 1st 2008, Ms X noticed a light SQUEELING noise from the right rear tire when she drove so she dropped off the car in Century Tire & Auto Service located on 53 Walnut Street in Peabody, MA at noontime, provided the registration which shows the owner is Mr. X, and requested help with a noise she heard. On April 2nd, 2008 about10am, Ms X called Century Tire asking for the estimate. The manager Mr. Joseph DeSalvo told Ms X, I was going to call you. All the brakes need to be replaced and will be $814 Ms Li replied: I need to speak to the owner of the car and will call you back. At noontime Mr. X informed Ms X that this car had been thoroughly checked out, maintenance records reviewed, and anything necessary was done on January 29th 2008. Mr. X especially asked the mechanic to check out the brakes and related parts to make sure they would be good for at least 2 years since this car would be used for long trips with his son. Mr X was told they had some wearing but would be good for 2 years or more as they appeared fairly new. Mr. X called Century Tire and refused to have any replacement and informed Ms X to cancel the replacement. The car only added 447 more miles in 2+ months since the last maintenance noted above. Therefore, Ms X called Century Tire to stop any service as she was going to return for the car. After being told that the car needs to be driven more and the rotors will make a sqeeling sound if left outside for long periods without a long drive or run the car in reverse and apply the brakes firmly usually corrects this issue as it is common with many cars not driven when it is a wet moist winter or hot humid summer. The manager Mr. DeSalvo replied: I was going to call you. Your front brakes pads started with 10mm and now is 5 mm. Ms X said please do not replace the front brakes pads. The manager Mr. DeSalvo said Your caliber is frozen and needs to be replaced Ms X asked how much does it cost
The manager Mr. DeSalvo said about $200. Ms X asked please do not replace the front brakes and not replace the caliber. The manager Mr. DeSalvo said: If you dont do the front brakes, replacing caliber will reduce the price to $600 Ms X was confused by his estimate and questioned: hold down, the $814 was for 4 brakes. How come the price is till $814 without doing 2 front brakes? How much does it cost for each brake? The manager Mr. DeSalvo said: I dont like this conversation anymore. Then hung up. Ms X called back and told the manager: Im not the owner. My husband is the owner and he refused the replace and refused the payment. The manager Mr. DeSalvo said: this is between you and your husband. And hanged up.
Ms X forwarded the Century Tires phone # to Mr. X and asked him to call the them directly to reinforce the cancellation.
After a moment, Mr. X called Ms X and informed that the manager threatened to leave Ms Xs car off the ground if no replacement; and they will call the police if Ms X dont pay full price.
When Ms X called the Century Tire again and told them Ms Xs daughter will come by 5 pm to pick up the car. The manage said: itll not be ready by 5. Then when it can be ready Ms X asked.
The manage said: I dont know.
Ms X was afraid that the Century Tire may retain the car to extended period and/or mishandling the re-installation of tires, which may put her son and her life in danger. Therefore, Ms X went to Century Tire at 4:45 pm and begged them not replace the front brake pad this time since they are in middle-yellow-zone of the thickness (which is about 5~6 mm). Even the rear brake pad were 3~5 mm---which is very different from the managers note of complete worn out. Mr. X was informed and told do you know who I am!? My name is Joe DeSalvo! Mr. X offended will now have to drive 3.5 hours to explain in person and be refunded the charges ;-(
