12/27/2006 | Regarded as a classic by Janet Jackson fans alike, this is one of her best. The only complaints I've heard thus far is that it was "depressing" in subject nature (domestic violence, homophobia, etc) which in my opinion, isnt a valid reason to say it is bad.

04/20/2001 | I too thought this album could of been alot better. It was really depressing for janet. I know she was going thru hard times but then maybe she should of waited. "JANET." was one of her best so far. Can't wait to hear what the new album is going to sound like. So far, not too bad.

10/31/2000 | Janet Jackson is one of my all time favorites. I have listened to her since I was a little girl. She has a great voice and can really dance. I do have to admit that this album dissapointed me a bit but it still has some great songs.

08/18/2000 | There wasn't much hope for Janet. It sucks to have to live in your famous brothers shoes all the time. Velvet rope is a mix between sounds that doesn't work at all. You would hope for it to come together and be sort of funky, (I am shocked I am using the word funky but it is for lack of a better word) but unfortunately, it doesn't.
