Many people probably found this movie to be offensive. I thought it was an interesting movie, but not one that I found terribly funny. I thought that casting Alanis Morrisette as God was, well, interesting. I also liked the roles played by Chris Rock and George Carlin.

  An interesting movie that goes too much out it's way to bash the Christian religion. Would have been just as funny and less offensive with less profanity. The only religion you could get away with bashing like this are the Christians because they are required to turn the other cheek. Some other religions would not be so willing to ignore such nasty jabs at their faith.

I must take issue with the bag on this movie I just read. No plot? No humor? Come on, man. The plot is a twisted tale of two renegade angels trying to exploit a dangerous man made loophole in chuch law to get back into heaven. As far as humor goes, Jay and Bob are pretty good, but the muse played by Salma Hayek and Chris Rock as Rufus the 13th apostle are even better. The real gem is Alan Rickman as the voice of God. He is a fantastic actor and had me laughing when it was a time to laugh and thinking when that is what they were aiming for. The religious types will typically hate this movie, but who cares? The best gag, for those who care, was the "Buddy Christ."

Another Jay and Silent Bob movie that makes as much sense as the others. Little of no plot with very average acting and even less humor.

Hilarious, over-the-top, yet cerebral, take on Catholicism and its disaffected adherents. George Carlin is a riot as the market-saavy priest, and Ben Afleck actually doesn't suck in this movie. I've watched it with a few 'Progressive-Catholic' types and they loved it, probably because they could relate more to some of the "inside jokes" that only someone familiar with Catholicism would understand. A very funny cult-classic.

an absolute joy to watch matt damons best ever character, and jay and silent bob are at their absolute best in this feature, i have this on vhs and it is now unwatchable due to the wear and tear it has endured, and the religious factor is beautifully done. i could go on for hours about this movie but i wont(no applause needed).

I don't want to get beat up...but I'm generally not a fan of the Jay/Silent Bob duo. For whatever reason they just don't do much for me. So after my friends made me sit through Mall Rats and Clerks (which I fell asleep during) I had very low expectations for Dogma. This movie, however, is fantastic. Strong religious types, stay away, but for all others with a sense of humour in regards to religion, enjoy this one. The casting was great, I even found myself laughing at the moron twins.

Quirky and irreverant,with some really great moments,parts of this drag.Worth it if only to ogle Selma Hayek! Do not watch this with religious folk who aren't posessed of good senses of humor.They WILL be offended.

I thought this was a vulgar, blasphemous piece of cinematography. There were a few things that I thought weren't funny, but it's just an overall funny, offensive movie. Don't bother watching it if you are so hypersensitive about religion that you can't laugh without going to Hell.

I loved Dogma's plot and the acting and all the characters were great. Kevin Smith is a really funny guy.

possibly Kevin Smith's best movie. he finally had the budget and the means to do something big. The camoes are great and teh story is pretty good. George Carlin as a Bishop was pretty funny, and Jay and Silent Bo never fail to amuse. The star of this movie, i think, Is Alan Rickman. His dry performance and his sarcasm and lack of patience make this movie a whole lot funnier than if he wasn't there. Jasone Lee is great, too. This is an attack on religion, or at least the fickleness of orgainzed religion, so i wouldn't recommend it to people who hold strong views. However, as a catholic, i wasn;'t offended in the least. Though this movie is very funny, it is also very thought provoking.

The guy who came up with the premise of the movie and directed it is actually a Christian - so aryandan get your facts correct before you b***h about something that you don't really know anything about. I think its a very clever film and I do like the main thrust of the film being that religion is an idea that should grow rather than using religion as a weapon against the things that you don't approve of or are frightened of. its a very sweet film and does raise a lot of questions and ideas that perhaps some people should take on board
